There are two additional ways to make a product more eco-friendly. #1 Design the product so it is repairable. Patagonia and several other well-known brands in the outdoor product space take this approach. #2 Work with the manufacturer to have a small supply of each of the original materials and components on hand to perform repairs. Stuff breaks, gets lost, is unintentionally damaged, etc. The company selling the product to the final customer can offer better customer service, and the end user doesn't need to replace the item over a small issue.
As a newer business just starting to gain traction, I only do an inspection on a small percentage of the full order. Would you ever do a full quantity inspection?
Yeh that’s totally fine, I just pay for one man day which is usually around $200 and they’ll do a small percentage of your order, if you have faults with production then you may reinspect a larger percentage at the suppliers expense - if you need intros to the inspectors I work with you can send me an email which is in the description box of the video 🙏🏼

@@SourcingWithKian Hi Kian. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your comment!🙏 I’m learning about FSC certification and GOTS, OCS certification (organic cotton). I’m finding it very challenging for the particular product I’m working on at the moment.😂 Not seeking to be perfect from the start was really an encouraging message for me. This was not in your video but I’m also learning to make the website more eco-friendly, choose a green hosting company, eco-friendly design, etc.
Kian I have been watching your videos for the last few days These are Gems, very much informative 🙂 And when you say " Yes Yes " its really Awesome ❤️❤️❤️ I have also started using this word combination a lot 😅 "Yes Yes" ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks @kian this was grt to watch. Some grt suggestions on transparency. I’m looking at GRS certification right now, not an easy one to implement but hopefully worth the effort.
Thankls mate, def worth the effort, Amazon will start rewarding more sustainable brands and when everyone jumps on this trend in 2025 you'll already be years ahead :)
Hello kian!! I'm new to yr channel, great content by the way...By any chance you can do a video or link on some inspections agency's that we can work with,so we know what to look for when working with China suppliers and inspector for our products ...Thank you
Thanks for checking out the channel :) and yeah for sure, feel free to email me - k@sourcingwithkian.com and I can send you my list of recommended service providers - I need to make a video on this topic soon as well :)
Hey Kian I have a question! If you do not mind can you explain why Chines exporters lower the unit price on their invoices and always, do not really declare correctly their goods and use low duty rate HTS codes that put the whole shipments on hold in the port of arrival!!!
That's a great question and something I'm looking into at the moment as I know these bags can degrade as well so I want to be sure Amazon will accept them too. The company website is here - www.maxim-group.com/ I'm talking with them now to arrange a special deal for my audience so I will keep you posted on that too :)
Great video kian! I missed the pre shipment inspection company link in the description, can you send it here? Thank you 🙏 Would also love to know the process of sourcing the materials straight from material suppliers and sending it to our manufacturers!
Do you have an Idea of the date of the next Canton fair (real world)? When will China reopen? I am used to go there every year, I am missing it so much…
Oh wow that's awesome, how many years have you been going to Canton? Maybe we've crossed paths haha. I'm optimistic it will be open for the April 2023 Canton Fair, now we can see the restrictions are starting to ease up slightly...
Can you please make a video about getting certifications? The suppliers are sending me intertek files but it's not at their name because they say it's from their own textile supplier 😫 how do you actually get 100% sure it's eco responsible products? I guess I need to ask for a TC ?
Hi Kian thanks for the value information. I have a question : Does Amazon accept clear biodegradable poly bags for apparel ? In their packaging policies They mention poly bags but I am not sure if they just mean the polyethylene one. Is my first inventory so I want to make sure I do it right. Thanks !!!
Thanks! I have tried to contact them but I’m new on this so I still struggling finding answers or contacting the right people. I much appreciate if u can help me with this. Thanks!!!
