As someone studying psychology and looking to go into Psychiatry, I hope you can talk to someone about your stress. Whether it be another student (who will likely be able to understand what you are going through), a professor, or a counselor on campus, just talk to someone when it gets overwhelming. Physicians and medical students are some of the highest effected groups of depression and anxiety disorders (suicide rates for physicians are really high). People do care about you and want to help you get through these stressful times. And even if you want to talk to us about it through youtube that can help. You are strong, I can tell. Stay strong! You're an inspiration to many of us who are going into the medical field and I thank you for it.
Biden's Son this is a beautiful comment. Thank you for shedding light on this dark topic. and thank you for your support. Vlogging and sharing my rough times actually serves as therapy for me and seems to be a healthy coping mechanism for stress and anxiety. I’m definitely going to monitor my mental health though and reach out if I need the help.
I used to plan a 5 minute crying time in between my studies... don’t give up. I am now a board certified surgeon : breast specialist, surgical oncologist. Worth it.
Can I just say that it’s so refreshing how honest you are. If you cry like 3 times a week because of school, then you show us. Not hide it. Thank you for your honesty in all things
every time I watch a video like this I'm like "Can I do this?" "Do I WANT to do this?" "What DO you want?" and I have to keep rethinking everything all the time
Michelle F You probably can. But you’re right - can I and should I are two different questions. I am a genetic counselor. I decided at one point I was going to go back and do med school. I ended up deciding not to continue that path based on a number of factors and I am ultimately happier for it. Whatever you decide to do, you are right in that. But just know it’s okay not to do it too.
same!! made the decision to go see our on campus therapist, school work aside, there are so many ups and downs, you got this!! use the resources they have!
You’re drop dead beautiful, intelligent, inspirational, and straight up real. Don’t let loneliness and the mad stress get you down. You’re incredible and honestly tho, people should aspire to be as motivational as you. You’ve inspired me already, and this is my first time watching you! Go get after it and rock this world!
orbitzz Hey, don’t worry too much about it for now. If you haven’t even graduated high school, then you still have a really long time to think about what you wanna do with your future. There’s no need to rush things in life, even though that’s what society tells us to do. “Hurry up and pick what you wanna do for the rest of your life!” like I don’t think people realize how big of a decision that it is for people in our age range (16-25 yrs old) when we’re still trying to figure ourselves out in life. Another tidbit of advice is to just take things one piece at a time, and don’t stress out about the next thing until you get there. If you try to think in a Macro sense (so like, trying to think about everything all at once) you will easily overwhelm and unnecessarily stress yourself out more. Just focus on things one step at a time. You will be okay! 🙂 If med school is your true passion, then go for it! You can definitely do it.
Gabe Rillman I needed some motivation, thank you! All these RUclips videos with these people stressing out about med school really make me feel unmotivated for it and I question myself if I really want to go in to this different lifestyle...
M3z4_5 Man don’t even stress it! We all feel the exact same way (being unmotivated) at one time or another. If anybody says that they haven’t felt unmotivated or lazy at least a few times in their lives then they’re just straight up lying. It’s human nature to feel that way. Don’t ever give up man! And don’t worry too much either. Being passionate about what you want to do will get you through it no matter how challenging and daunting it may seem.
@@m3z4_58 Ok aside from the stresses of school, you also need to consider other factors. People get sold on the idea that medical school is the ticket to a life of great income and personal fulfillment, and while that can be true, it's not universal. The reality for many is coming out of years and years of intense schooling (which is lost income potential for those years) with mind-boggling amounts of debt, starting in a field that's saturated with competition out of your ears and doing work that demands a ton of your time and mental energy. There will be many who love it. There will also be many who hate it, but are stuck thanks to their huge loan payments. It is like the saying goes: medicine is for those who cannot see themselves doing anything else. I saw myself doing something else.
I'm now in my third year of medicine, and not only does the course make you feel inadequate at times, but the people around you. Not to say people are terrible in medicine, but you realise how smart, hard working, and competent everyone around you is (especially compared to yourself). But I think it's definitely important to realise everyone is on the same boat. The other day I saw one of my friends (who I thought always had her stuff together) cry at the gym because she suddenly felt the stress hit her. It really didnt hit me until this year that whether you seem on top of it or not... medicine is another beast. just remember everyone is going through the same thing, don't get discouraged :D
I’m undergrad, and kind of don’t understand what can be so stressful about it (probably because I never experienced it), anyone who’s been there care to explain? 🙏
Daniel Davidov I’m not in med school either but from what I heard it’s the fact that there’s an insane amount of difficult material to learn in a very short amount of time. Also failing a class is very problematic as they can kick u out if they feel like ur not doing up to the mark.
as also a med student, i just wanted to say that it's OKAY to like alone time. i've come to respect my more introverted classmates immensely, because they know themselves and what works for them. as time has gone on, i've honestly started emulating them. so, don't hate on yourself for that! hope you're doing well!
I broke down and cried on the phone talking to my parents after just the second day of medical school lmao. I'm taking it one day at a time and trying to keep being positive and not overthink. Good luck students! We can do it.
Happy Axis Man I feel this, I’m not even a medical school student (I’m an engineering student) so I can relate to the amount of stress you guys go through, and I’ve broken down and cried NUMEROUS amounts of time throughout my school career. And I absolutely agree with you! Just take things 1 step at a time, stay positive, and do not overthink things!! You got this!! I believe in you! 🙂
As a third year, trust me the struggle is real. People been telling me since day 1, hell since high school, that i wouldnt make it. That I was too dumb... I thought i was going to fail term 1, I didn’t, I thought I would fail second year, I didn’t, I thought I would fail step 1, I didn’t. It’s been a long road, sleeping at 3am is normal, but one thing I’ve learned over the years is to believe in yourself. I used to compare myself everyday, I’m not smart, how did they finish, how did they do so well, etc etc. Trust in the work you put in, and trust in yourself that you’ll be ok. Life is not all about studying, and if we fails that’s ok, everyone fails. You get your butt back up and do it again. To imagine the class clown and kid who didn’t do any work in high school is almost going to make it, is a good feeling, your going to make it. Grind it out and god bless
Omygawd i cried reading this, im in my first yr and i havent been doing great for the first 2 blocks but im trying to think REAAAAALLY possitive that i can make it and do well for the next 4 blocks everything seems so surreal at times and i always wonder too why my classmates are doing really well and im not but then i just try to focus on myself and get by with the best i can do hehe WISH ME LUCK
Mike, as the class clown myself in high school with the bad grades as well and about to enter med school this coming year, I thank you for your comment. It has shown me that no matter who you are, if you stay focused and determined you will make it.
Dont give up! I'm a physician in the Philippines. Got my medical license when i was 26 years old. Trust me, just as our mentors said to us.. just push through because the view from the other side is beautiful. It will all be worth it. God bless you
Girl I cried at least once a semester when I was in med school. It usually was at the end of the semester during our study week. You are definitely not alone!
veronica torres girl! This is the truth. I cried every night my first year. It gets better!!! I graduate in 2 months. The crying makes you stronger!!! 🤗 🤗 🤗
I agree! I'm a nursing student and I cry more than I care to admit! Med school is definitely not for me but I love watching vlogs about it! It makes you appreciate your doctors more when you see what they go through!
I’m currently a sophomore in high school and... I’m so excited to go to medical school. It’s my passion. But everyone says that it is so hard. Despite that, I know I’ll be able to get through it. You can too❤️
I hope you can be your dream job. My passion is medical school too i'm a freshman in high school. I hope we can deal with that stress and be successful persons in the future.
I feel like those breakdowns result from wanting to having everything under your control, sometimes you just have to let things unfold the way they want to. You will be okay in the end.
I'm not gonna lie But here in my university We were charged 100$ For everything from our rooms to our college fees excluding the mess(common kitchen) fees. That too for the whole course of 5.5 years But the acceptance rate here is 0.3 %
I’m in nursing school and I can’t even tell you the amount of times I read my notes and just start sobbing. I can’t even imagine the stress you’re under. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us! You continue to inspire and push me to achieve my goals!!
I have no idea why this showed up in my recommended, but I literally just broke down with a friend and told them about how i was feeling and your video is literally like word for word how I am feeling and what I said to my friend. I don’t know hope RUclips knew but I’m glad I got recommenced this video. It helps to know others out there understand
Stop you broke my heart at the beginning of the video. You are perfect and every group of people will be lucky to have you as their friend. Beautiful people don't know their own value so stop you are smart, beautiful and fun to be around. And when i finish my medical school and be able to travel abroad i will be able to come to the US for some time and be your friend.
You're not a bad vlogger sis, I appreciate that you can get through your crazy schedule and still pick up the camera and show us everything. You're doing great!❤
Girl every time you cry i am crying with you. I love the honesty. Everyone makes it look so easy but you’re showing the true side. I really appreciate seeing this. Thank you for the honesty.
“Honest sequence of emotions”- what a great description, genuinely. I’m a 5th year medical student (studying in Brazil) and this video just about sums up the emotional roller-coaster you go through during the course. Stay strong!
You are honestly a machine! How do you even juggle studying, going to the gym and vlogging at the same time?! You should be proud of yourself since not many of us are as multi-tasked as you. Keep going girl!!! You're my inspiration. ;)
Medical school is hard and dealing with people can be hard too. You might feel extra tired when you're working at school *and* pushing yourself to open up to people too. I understand that feeling, and respect that I need a lot of time by myself to feel healthy. Maybe try to increase your time socializing at a pace that works for you. Focus on socializing in a way that reduces school stress. Know your limits! I hope that helps.
It’s ok hun. Thank you for your honesty. These tears aren’t for anything. Try to do something enjoyable for at least 30 mins a day. Mental heath is important
I googled how many things does a med student need to memorize in a day and it said 100-200 anki cards....Then you said i'm so happy I just memorized 1000 anki cards....GOOD LUCK to you and all med students
You are a source of inspiration--don't forget that! I've been watching your videos for a little while now and it helped me to push on through secondaries and interview prep. Now I'm officially accepted into a few medical schools and I couldn't be more grateful! It's all worth it in the end!
I literally have the exact thing you’re talking about. Social anxiety sucks like I literally couldn’t even focus on my class because I was overthinking my hand motions, the way I’m sitting, the way I hold my pencil. Honestly if you notice it keeps continuing pls pls PLSSS go to therapy!!
Ugh THIS! I'm not in med school but my cal 2 class has me feeling like the devil in a church. I don't like the subject and I'm hyperaware of my surroundings and classmates cause I'm so lost and I want to ask questions but I'm ssooooo scared ppl will think I'm dumb. I've asked questions a couple times before after working up the courage to do so and both times I've been immediately flooded with shame cause they were dumb questions. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Lol I'm going to counseling tomorrow, so it's something I'm working on :)
@@Bren-I-oop OMG I HATED calc 2. I took it at a community college and didn't even do as well as I'd hoped and my credits didn't transfer for some reason. I'm going to have a complete breakdown if they tell me I have to take it again.
Jx Tyra yes go to therapy. I used to have it. Got therapy years ago. The cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapy helped so much. In ways I didn’t think was possible. Now I’ve had multiple leadership positions in undergrad and love socializing with people. It’s changed the way I think and feel. I start medical school next year. 🙂
Hey there, Rachel! I am a 4th-year medical student. I just wanted to say that I am proud of you for pushing through, but remember to take time for things that you love outside of school. Focusing only on med school is HUGE mistake I have seen many of my colleagues make and it has burned them out before they even hit residency. It is extremely important that you keep connections with the people you love and DO NOT let medical school make you feel isolated/not good enough. Imposter syndrome is real and the best way to combat that is to surround yourself with people who lift you up. My family and friends help to keep me grounded. I am not #1 in my class but I am one of the most peaceful/happiest. I refuse to sacrifice myself or my relationships with others for medicine. You are a strong person and you deserve to live your best life, even in med school. :)
Hey can i know whether is it possible to do other activities during medical school. Like a sport and a small business.. is it stressfull at the medical school..
Gurl ur not alone. I think it's safe to say that at some point through our medical career we have cried, sobbed and burst into tears, sometimes even thought of quitting. But then I always look back at how much I've accomplished to get to this point and say that there is no going back now I've worked hard for this and it's a challenge I took years back and I'll still take it. U need to cry we are humans, but u also need to move forward cuz life is filled with challenges. A wise man once said "it ain't about how hard u hit, it's about how hard u get hit and keep on moving forward"
when you said it was not okay that you were feeling stressed about being alone you were wrong! it’s totally okay to feel that way and it’s tough to be around a lot of people especially is college when things are changing and you have lots of hard work to do. keep doing what you’re doing you’re doing great!
This type of thing really discourages me from continuing down the premed path honestly. I've only heard it gets harder and harder. Thanks for showing how it really is, it gives me and many others who watch a lot to think about.
Agreed. Dont be discouraged just realize when people say it's difficult it is. Go in knowing 100% just how time consuming it is and come out the other end in one of the last truly great professions around.
Miss Chantell make sure you keep her motivated. Don’t show the worrisome towards her or else she’ll become discouraged and have doubts. No matter how much hard it may be for her don’t let her give up! Especially if she really wants it.
Lol, hasty much. First you gotta get into college. Then graduate college...then HOPEFULLY get into med school. The first steps and the excellence you need in them are not to be looked over, they're insanely difficult.
This video is saw raw and real because school is noooooo joke!! I'm currently in dental hygiene school and I've never been so overwhelmed in my life! But oddly enough, watching your video helps me out so much because it lets me know there's someone out there feeling the same way I'm feeling currently! You got this girl, keep up the great work❤️
ohsoyoujazz couldn’t agree more! I’m in my first semester of dental hygiene school and had a panic attack in clinic couple days ago! It’s nice knowing I’m not the only one feeling this way!!
The moment you started speaking I resignated with you instantly. I feel you and I have had several moments where I had episodes like these!Dude you're a doctor to be ,people aspire to be you ,I know I do (hopefully) 😍 We love you and keep on going..
My nose is sensitive and I’m not even in college yet (I’m in high school and take a dual credit class that lets s go to med school trips). I had to smother on vapor rub underneath my nose, and I hope that I can get used to it because the vapor rub made my skin itch.
The smell itself doesn‘t really bother me but time after time it reminds me of endless hours of hard studying and failing anyways. I‘m going to be on my third try on an oral anatomy exam in 4 weeks. I studied like hell and couldn‘t have given it any more effort but it seems as if it just wasn‘t enough. I‘m tired of failing. That one oral exam is my last chance. Wish me luck guys.
I really felt when you said “I am just stressed and I just want to chill.” I’m not in med school but, going back to school for finance, while being in a super stressful field in finance while have 2 young kids makes me want to cry and punch a wall. Keep pushing, take time for yourself. You got this ❤️❤️❤️
It gets easier. Your brain adjusts to running a marathon everyday as long as you get sleep and exercise and balance. Keep up the good work. And don't let your Anki lapse! - MS2
As an M4, there were times that I would stare out my window after a night of studying and tears would just start streaming down. I'm not ashamed that I cried. In fact, it what makes me human. Med school is not supposed to be easy and it is completely normal to be overwhelm. What matters is when you wipe off those tears and hit the books again. The first two years are definitely the hardest and then it will all be easy and breezy from then on. Hang in there !! Before you know it, fourth year will come and it will be the best year of your life. All of your hard work will come to fruition.
*watches this video as I'm having a mental breakdown over biochem. Keep thriving!!! You're my motivation to keep going, I know its tough, but you'll get through it. I'm rooting for you!
@@flanagamer Inorganic isn't too bad, just a lot of math sometimes, but organic chem was rough, but mostly because I took the hardest professor their was so I definitely had to study a lot but I have faith in you!
Don’t worry man,I was at your same spot last month with Biochem. It’s one of the most difficult courses and it destroyed me :( But thank god I managed to get a B- , don’t give up you might feel like everything is going wrong but keep going and good luck.
Nah don't worry. If you learn Anki and interleaving now, then medical school will be much more manageable. Look up the 20 rules of formulating knowledge and videos on Anki (the anking, glutanimate, and this one RUclipsr whose name I forgot are good channels). Watch Thomas Frank (collegeinfogeek) and Ali Abdaal's videos on studying, and of course apply what you learn to the above, sort of like wishing for more wishes. Make flashcards for them too. Once you've built a knowledge base and more importantly good study habits, go to gen.lib.rus.ec and apply your knowledge to the books "what smart students know" (explains how to crirically read a book), "how to be a high school superstar", "ultralearning", "atomic habits", other books by Cal Newport, "superhuman" by Dave asprey, and self hypnosis by Forbes Blair or Roger Strauss or the new psycho-cybernetics, and maybe the sat black book. (for more prep resources, check out 1600.io(a little free), santasat, UWorld(paid), satpanda books for math, Erica meltzer books for English, collegeboard tests for tests (these are precious - ration them out throughout your study career, keeping in mind time for retakes), andthe Princeton review 2020 premium book for problems and tests). Make sure you are turning all of these resources into really good Anki flashcards and keeping up with your reviews, otherwise this is all little better than entertainment. Stretch yourself by taking dual enrollment classes/AP classes in non-STEM subjects and courses on MIT opencourseware courses. Once quarantine is over, you can start taking CLEP exams (free vouchers at modernstates.org) and see which community colleges offer credit by departmental challenge exam. One you've take an MIT course, you can then take the challenge exam and get credit. You can potentially get your associate's before graduating high school, but keep in mind this might affect your scholarship eligibility at some colleges. If you get really good at Anki, you might want to consider ankifying Campbell biology + a little plant anatomy and competing in your state's biology Olympiad.
I am a medical student and I can personally say this has happened to me. The stress level is through the roof and your just can’t deal sometimes. The worst time I cried was right after a lecture and I just hoped in my car and started crying, called my mom and told her that i was an idiot. But what makes a good medical student is getting over moments like this and jumping into your studies. Just remember we all go through it!
This was actually so refreshing to watch because I get the exact same way. One minuet I'm fine and productive and the next I'm a mess with the overwhelm of school and anxiety and loneliness. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who gets like this.
I"m a health sciences pre-dentistry student and I have never related more "I just wanna chill" whilst a tear rolls down your face. Same girl same. And your courseload is like mine on steroids so you're not being dramatic at all.
I feel your stress, I’m in radiology school and even on days I get everything done and get good grades on exams, I feel overwhelmed and sometimes just cry to let it all out. My anxiety kicks in and I can’t control it. Totally feel your pain and stress. You got this girl, lots of support your way💛
Hey I’m a high school student who is planning to apply for med school, and this really opened my eyes. I really want to pursue medicine as a career but as a person with such bad anxiety, I can relate with you. Just the amount of hours you spend studying overwhelms me and I really hate being in social situations. Its just overwhelming. It’s nice to know that your doing well even still working on ur anxiety and I really aspire. This video gave me a glimpse of what med school is like and I really like how open u are with ur anxiety. Its nice to know that someone struggles with it and who is doing well. It really inspires me. Thank you so much for sharing ur life ❤️
Don’t be embarrassed by being stressed and crying about it! You are allowed to feel how you feel and the pressures on you are enormous! It’s so much for one human to manage. Definitely look into talking to someone if you can fit it into your schedule! Taking care of yourself is #1! It’s awesome that you’re prioritizing the gym and sleep 😊
Third year at Medschool now believe me we're all like that everyday is different and you'll cry so hard till you have no time left to cry but you get used to it and you adjust and get going❤️❤️sending love and light to you
I just started medical school and is just such a stress trying to learn and be able to keep the rhythm, I barely sleep, I feel like sh*t, sometimes I feel like I am not enough, but I don't know u inspired me to keep going. Even if I cry, I feel bad or lonely. I love this career, and I wanna keep going. YOU CAN DO IT 💖💖💖🥺🥺
I feel you. As a fellow medical student handling the rough environment of med school everyday since the last 2.5 years, I just want to pitch a few points. Medical school gets frustrating, monotonous and depression can creep in very soon. I cope with it by trying to shut down the stress by shutting off the books for a couple minutes and changing the "pattern" - jumping rope for a while in my room, maybe shower and once I feel the panic attack is kinda gone, I just sit down with a fresh mind. One thing that really helps is making notes from 4 or 5 books (read : model answers for various type of questions for a subject). If it helps, Medical School is actually enjoyable if you work on an effort-oriented way and not worrying about results. Sleep well, and hope to see you make a mark on the field. :)
I cried and had many healthy physical and mental problems during my first year and i realy wanted to quit. Now i am in my fourth year and i feel studing this is the best thing that could happen in my life. In almost 2 years I'll be a doctor. ❤ I wish you the best
i’m premed and i’m already so stressed. I study hours on end, and at times it feels like my goals are so beyond reach, especially after a bad exam or the crunch of a finals week. However, this is just a reminder of all of the goals you’ve achieved and all that you’ve overcome. While i can’t understand the rigor that you’re going through, i can get a feeling of what you’ve already accomplished and you’re amazing for getting as far as you have! it’s crazy to think but even watching your stress, i’m still yearning to be in ur position. Take care of yourself!
I’m on my gap year rn before going to med school. I realized I was so depressed and had so many mental health issues to deal with that I couldn’t do it. I would have had a massive break down. Which I did have while being on my gap year lol. So now I’m sorting out the issues. Soon start therapy also 🤗 Then September med school.
4th year med student here. What I have come to realize is that during your break, you do not bring any study notes with you. When you overstudy you burn out much quicker, your anxiety levels increase and its just a downward spiral. Take frequent breaks, relax your mind, remember what you studied before and get back to it after. Your break is your break.
I'm a first generation, incoming medical student and I am so so thankful for your vlogs!! You are so genuine and transparent with life in medical school and how to navigate/manage it. Thank you so so much for that, its helped me immensely in trying to prepare for whats to come!
The intro to this video is the most Ive ever felt understood by another person. I come off as extroverted at work and school. But most of my time is spent alone where I’m comfortable. It’s hard when you are use to doing it on your own. Especially crying and struggling through it on your own. ❤️
I dropped out of college because of the stress. I couldn’t deal with it. I lost so much weight and my hair fell out in chunks. I got these weird jitters that don’t go away. I started sleep walking a lot which led me to not even sleeping at times. I probably aged a couple of years. I feel you.
This did SCARE me to the point where i am now crying before even getting into a med college.😂 I'd never want to be THIS stressed. God, the comment did scare me!!!
I love the emotion you show! That’s so real! I relate to it so much. I cry all the time because of school. No need to be embarrassed by it! People all expel stress different.
Girl, I'm a fourth year medical student and I can't even begin to tell you how much I cried in the past years. It's the combination of fear of failing, feeling dumb, as if I'm never going to ever catch up and just being straight up exhausted. IT'S A MARATHON. The most IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind is that you just need to keep going. Find people that you can talk to and that make your level of stress feel normal because it IS. The worst part of med school is everyone pretending like it's all fine. That toxic pressure is one of the main things that makes it so hard. FIND YOUR PEOPLE. Keep pushing. You're a badass. You'll be a doctor. I swear I was crying the same amount, I'm 100% with you.
I'm currently in my first year of medical school and I appreciate your honesty! Medical school is beyond tough and it's easy to feel both overwhelmed and isolated. It's nice to see I'm not the only person who feels this way!
When you were explaining how you feel in the lab, that is exactly how I felt the first time in lab. And still to this day. Peaceful and content. No time, no stress. I know it’s very simple but thank you for putting it into words for me 😁 Keep going strong, I love your videos and I’m sure you motivate all of us😊
I know exactly how you feel, I started actually talking and creating bonds with my classmates after one year, and my only regret is that it took me so long, i wish you the best of luck, love your videos
I’m a Caribbean medical student and girl, I feel you. I cry so much it has become second nature, and even a stress relief. Yet, we get through it at the end of the day. Keep pushing on, honey sista yasss! 🕺🏻
Watching this really brought back memories of when I was in medical school. It’s tough! Drinking from a fire hydrant indeed. Hang in there. Everyone has those moments where you breakdown mentally. It’s a very stressful time in life. Focus on putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it you would have walked your way in to your first patient encounter that you will care for and help in a way few can. Dance to your own rhythm and don’t ever doubt yourself. You will be just fine. Subscribed!
I cried so hard my first semester. when I stopped crying it was because I was so overloaded I almost couldn't afford to care, because I was so Numb. So keep crying if that's how you get rid of stress. Keep going. 4th year is the best year. 3rd is the worst.
I'm a third year student, and sometimes you just gotta say 'fu*k it' and let go!! I mean the amount of stress we're experience in only 24hrs is ridiculous! sometimes i feel like I'm losing my mind, so taking a break and letting go for a bit is a must! stay strong babe❤
Miss Southard, you are an amazing soul. Thankyou for inspiring me. I have always been told I wasn’t able to ‘learn’. Then I explained them: I learned to learn. Your video’s and those of other intellectuals inspire me to be a better me, every single day. You don’t even know me, but you still were part of changing my life. When it feels like you are about to crash, make sure that you retake control, an university would never let you in if they didn’t believe in you. And count the amount of comments, and see how many other people believe in you. Thankyou.
Third year resident here. I broke down and cried A LOT in medical school. Even though residency is more work, it has (at least for me) been mentally easier than medical school was. You can do this. You will make it! One day you will look back with pride at the long road behind you when you realize how very far you've come.
Hey Rachel , I can't imagine what you're going through because I'm still a freshman in undergrad but you got this! Take breaks, breath, and keep hustling! Your videos inspire me and I'm glad I've found your channel! Stay strong!
If you weren’t “friendly” or if you were a loner or had anxiety before Med school then it will get worse inked school because of the stressors. Something we medical professionals love to ignore is MENTAL HEALTH. It’s no joke and it can sneak up on you when you least expect it. Take care.
@@marap4107 facts "Oh, you're mentally ill? But you're a doctor, don't you know how to avoid about these type of diseases?" Ah, yes. Let me just wash my anxiety off right here.
your reactions are so genuine and I can relate to them so much. I am not a pre-med student I am going into law but the pressures of school definitely make me feel super overwhelmed and I always feel like I am being over dramatic! lol I just want to say I really love you're videos and how real and honest you are. Keep doing your thing!
I’m also a medical student in japan and spending tough times on the studies. I can’t count how many times I cried!! Sometimes I regret I should’ve been a normal college student.. but, your stories always light me up and make me feel I’m not alone. Thank you for sharing your dream!
I had an absolutely massive mental breakdown right after I started Pharmacy school last fall, you’re not alone! I’m under the impression that professional school just does this to people, especially if you have a history of anxiety to begin with (and I definitely do). The pressure is no joke, and sometimes I just have spontaneous breakdowns then go back to life like it never happened. People think I have it all together, but the reality is I’m just good at hiding things.
Randomly stumbled upon this. I just got through my first year as an attending and I know exactly what you are going through and what you still have ahead of you. My biggest advice is to make sure you find someone to talk to. You need someone to blow off steam. To vent. To have fun with. Balance, although it’s not easy in medical school is very important to prevent burnout.
When you sniffled at the gym I though you were crying again, I’m like oh dang she’s really having a crappy week. But no, it was the sniffle of productivity! 😁😁😁
Girl it is fine to cry all the time what you are going through isn't easy at all medicine is a difficult major and it comes with its costs being it breakdown, need for alone time or feeling empty those are all coping mechanisms to the great stress you are dealing with it is totally fine you are strong to be able to still stand in your field i wish you all the luck from my heart
I’m definitely going to monitor my mental health though and reach out if I need the help.

its actually really refreshing when done in between high-intensity periods of studying, feels soo good after
this is actually good advice. i never thought about this. im only in college now and will do this lol

THIS.
In medical school, you study until you run out of time, not until you’re ready for the test. Super weird feeling...
Lmao that's hilariously accurate. I've never been able to say I've got the whole syllabus down

Can I just say that it’s so refreshing how honest you are. If you cry like 3 times a week because of school, then you show us. Not hide it. Thank you for your honesty in all things
Thank you Steph
This is so true 💛
Rachel Southard if she cries 3 times a week because of school she should drop out. that’s not healthy at all.
For real most of us experience this, but it seems like no one else does. This is so, so refreshing!

Medical school taught me how to study for 15 hours a day and still feel like you didn’t do enough
Holy shit, i cant study above 10 hours, how can you do this?
Lol feel the same , it's true you can study this long or longer
@@mac0050 i only can do that before a day from the exam..
Then not studying for whole next day
And then panicking and studying for 15 hours again lol
Oooooo yesss
every time I watch a video like this I'm like "Can I do this?" "Do I WANT to do this?" "What DO you want?" and I have to keep rethinking everything all the time
Michelle F You probably can.

Man U inspired me
Seriously. I'm really even more inspired to go to medical school.
YES. Beautifully stated. Exactly how I feel.
I’m panicking and I haven’t even graduated high school yet. I’m really interested in going to med school, but I may be reevaluating my future now lol.
bitch me 😭
orbitzz Hey, don’t worry too much about it for now.
Also, girl, everyone cries in medical school. If someone doesn't..... they lying. 😘
HAH! aint that the truth

Im a med student in clinical rotations here in Nigeria. we all cry. Medicine can be hard but we will get through
@@flanagamer Everyone does
I'm now in my third year of medicine, and not only does the course make you feel inadequate at times, but the people around you.
Matthieu Mo thanks..

Honestly the environment in my med school is do toxic I can't even begin to describe it
Medical school makes me cry ALL THE TIME. Tears are just the stress trying to escape. Let it happen.

as also a med student, i just wanted to say that it's OKAY to like alone time. i've come to respect my more introverted classmates immensely, because they know themselves and what works for them. as time has gone on, i've honestly started emulating them. so, don't hate on yourself for that! hope you're doing well!

Same im just not getting the motivation anymore im in Year 10 going Year 11 in September

You got this girl, lots of support your way💛
You feeling
Third year at Medschool now believe me we're all like that everyday is different and you'll cry so hard till you have no time left to cry but you get used to it and you adjust and get going❤️❤️sending love and light to you
I’ve got to be honest, that sounds absolutely terrible. 😞
same here for dentistry, but I hope we can all do this.. don't give up everyone! remember that you're studying to help other people 💪
"I'm crazy... or I'm just a medical student" 😂😂😂 I feel like this is going to be me when I start in January
oh it will be!
i'm starting medical school in less than a month...and this scares me lol
Yeah you will 🤪
Congrats man! Where you headed!?
@@badtothebonecollecting Thank you! It's been a long journey so far, but I'll be starting the MD program at Deakin University in Australia
I dropped out of college because of the stress. I couldn’t deal with it. I lost so much weight and my hair fell out in chunks. I got these weird jitters that don’t go away. I started sleep walking a lot which led me to not even sleeping at times. I probably aged a couple of years. I feel you.
Real Mexican Food Shouldn't Give You Diarrhea
I‘v got so much respect for you! So brave you dropped out and put your health first! You are amazing❤️🔥
Julia Fee I went back and finished (barely) but idk if so want to go back and keep on shooting higher.
This did SCARE me to the point where i am now crying before even getting into a med college.😂
I'd never want to be THIS stressed. God, the comment did scare me!!!
See that why med school is a hell on the earth
I know it’s very simple but thank you for putting it into words for me 😁 Keep going strong, I love your videos and I’m sure you motivate all of us😊
I lost many friends to suicide while attending medical school. Please be strong😘
CONFIRMATION of INFORMATION seriously?
@@GabrielVasquez yes unfortunately...
Well that's counter productive.
Im so sorry for your losses thats heart breaking!! 😦 please take care of yourself! 💓💓 im rooting for u!
lmao failures in life, plus the family now has to pay all the debt they left behind
Subscribed!
Awh thank you Dr. Jack!
I love this video, such an honest HUMAN. We’re not robots and we are not perfect and it’s okay to struggle or to fee overwhelmed
Stay strong!
thank you Skye!
If you weren’t “friendly” or if you were a loner or had anxiety before Med school then it will get worse inked school because of the stressors. Something we medical professionals love to ignore is MENTAL HEALTH. It’s no joke and it can sneak up on you when you least expect it. Take care.

"Oh, you're mentally ill? But you're a doctor, don't you know how to avoid about these type of diseases?"
Ah, yes.
Queen really said, “studying on the treadmill.” Truly an inspiration. 🥺
When you sniffled at the gym I though you were crying again, I’m like oh dang she’s really having a crappy week. But no, it was the sniffle of productivity! 😁😁😁
HAHA you know, i won't be surprised when the day comes that i'm crying and vlogging at the gym
Girl it is fine to cry all the time what you are going through isn't easy at all
medicine is a difficult major and it comes with its costs being it breakdown, need for alone time or feeling empty those are all coping mechanisms to the great stress you are dealing with
it is totally fine you are strong to be able to still stand in your field i wish you all the luck from my heart
They should make us sign a emotional distress waiver before starting 😂
I study in mexico and they make you take a psychiatric exam before you get enrolled, its at least 700 questions
