I love this idea for mod "review" videos! I struggle to make modpacks which are balanced myself but you giving examples of uses is gonna help a lot. I'm gonna review my modpack now! Thanks for all you do, I am especially proud of your bounceback!
I like the drains because they don't have any mechanical parts so it doesn't have an overheat temperature outside of the metal it is constructed with. This makes it great for getting a little bit of that molten material into pipes for fun builds
11:25 And there goes all of Brothgar's oxygen generation! Or at least, the duplicant's time due to them taking the bottles out of the auto emptier and then dropping them back into the pipe...
The Fluid Shipping mod is actually super useful for filling the cooling loops. Especially with supercoolant. You don't need to build pipes all over the asteroid or build separate tanks. It wasn't mentioned in the video, but it's the most useful application of the mod.
One often overlooked benefit of Drains is that since they don't use power, they aren't machines and thus don't have an overheat temp, just a melting point. This is amazingly helpful when making a petroleum boiler before space, possibly even before steel, since you can get the fresh hot petrol into a pipe and run the pipe through your (counter-current) cooling system without the fuss of a breakable liquid pump or the mess of waterfalls (petrol-falls?).
Wait... How does that high pressure pump work with aquatuners? Would that increase the heat it dumps in the surrounding area proportional to the volume of liquid is passing through?
@@itsmorlok I can commiserate: My laptop is 2011, and can get up to cycle 5-600 before it takes way too long to save. Random exits of the game are annoying especially if I've queued up a lot of builds.
This mods solve many of the lacking features in the base game, only move a few kg, the base game need something like MK2 pipes and pumps. I really like pumps walls, sometimes I have and over pressure section, but I don't want to build a pump just for that. As you said, it save precious space.
that conveyor loader that can ship liquids... couldn't you use that for shipping lava around? :D does lava become solid in bottles..? if not you could make some really cool stuff with that :D
@@brothgar alright. Thank you. Would you be able to do the mosiac tiles along with it if you haven't already made the script or video yet, just for those people like me who like to repurpose the gravitas facilities into actual functional buildings. Also, thank you for responding to me and thank you for making this game even more fun. I can't believe I got responded to by my, probably by now, favorite RUclipsr. Thanks man.
there's a configurable mod that allows you to adjust settings for many/all buildings. a few new abilities you can opt to add: dupe-less operation of buildings that usually require a dupe to stand and push a button, or to adjust settings or disable them immediately/manually. pipe & rail masses can be altered, as can pumps. positioning settings can also be altered, so you rotate or flip buildings differently. transit tubes can be customized so the can be built anywhere & bend in tighter turns.
One problem with the Fluid Shipping mod is that it is based on the Bottle Emptier object, which means it has auto-bottling set (and no button to toggle it off), so your dupes will waste a HUGE amount of time going to any pitcher pumps you have, drawing water from them and dumping them into the Fluid Shipping object that empties bottles into pipe. I tried to explain this to the modder, but he got all offended and blew me off. Try it. It happens.
These air pumps will leave you breathless... ... I mean the thing is forcing a grand size vacuum. And dear God! Clyde's parents must have had a modded liquid pump on the toilet. That explains it! Wow South Park was ahead of us!
I have a quick question there: With the Canister Filler Mod, are you able to like put water or petroleum into the molecular Forge for example? Because that would kind of being awesome to automate the whole thing.
I think the filter pumps might not be as good, for example, there's no guarantee that every bit of a specific gas in a room will hit that tile, if there's more then one type in there, meaning it'll actually be harder/take more to clean the atmosphere in a room.
He Brothgar, loving your work as ever, can I ask a question, did you notice the lights out mod literally halves your frame rate? I have been recording a series for RUclips using the Mod and my game was lag city, but when I hit escape and toggle lights out, it returns to more than double the FPS. I noticed your FPS was like 35-40 when you only had 9 dupes on the super modded playthrough as well.
I am thinking of using this time I'm laid off to make learn to make some mods. I have thought of two things: 1. Printing pod overhaul where you do research to be able to increase print chances (kinda like how critters morph) 2. Some randomly generated quests like: "deliver 6tons of steel in X cycles to close orbiting ship for some goodies". Has it been done? Any suggestions?
brothgar i'm trying to automate liquids tanks for my bathroom in oni and i was wondering which gates and or filters you would use to go about it. i have not done anything with automation besides for my power supplies.

So I installed these mods yesterday (already had building ranges), used a few modded buildings (fan blocks, filtered gas pump), then saved and went to bed. This morning, all the polluted water in my bathroom's liquid reservoirs is gone! But not any other fluids in reservoirs. Went back to my earlier saves and they all look exactly the same- the polluted water just disappeared upon loading. Uninstalled the mods and reloaded the saves with the same result. Anybody else see this sort of glitch and know which of the mods may have caused it? Not a super huge issue but I don't want a recurrence... thanks!
@@brothgar I figured it out; I'm sharing for the sake of anyone else who made this silly mistake. The High Pressure mod increased the capacity of my bathroom pipes. While I wasn't looking; roughly 10 tons of polluted water went through the sieve and crammed into the clean water bathroom piping, making it look like lots of PW had disappeared. So nothing broke; I just was apparently not sufficiently caffeinated yet to figure it out. Thanks again for the great mod reviews!
High Pressure Mod has problem that it make all high. all pipes has too much stuff. Broke my toilets, petrolium boiler.. there should be separate pipes for high pressure then we could use those as like main pipelines.
If you just add mods that make things more efficient by being literally better than vanilla alternatives, you might as well just use debug mode to give yourself as much energy as you want. And then... Why play at all, you can't lose, you can't overcome challenges, you're just playing sandbox mode, why do I even exist. Now when a mod is giving me an existential crisis, you know its time to shut the game down, and delete the cheats. I personally like mobs that make doing things you can do normally, fast. I'm talking pliers, or blueprints.
High pressure gas pump should probably be 2x3 tiles and consume more power per g than normal for a pump. Then this could be added in the game and allow you to make PROPER AIRLOCKS. Waterlocks are just so boring.
HmmSeriously At this point That "mod's" (Yes with an "S") are PRACTICALLY BETTER then the base game. For one you go modsYou don't go back. Like SE (Space Engineer). So instead of playing the base game....go mods...
