It's sounds like I'm saying "high backed turns". I am saying "high BANKED turns". 🤦🏾♂️
I will plan to go to that trail.. Where should I start?
Felt compelled to give a shout out to the person responsible for having cut, shaped, re-shaped and maintained these trails for so long - Singletrack Surgeon
Thanks Miguel! I didn't realize he cut Sith.
@@mtb_alan It's my understanding that Taylor and his dad are responsible for much of the sweetness at Hulda
@@NoBrakes23 thanks for sharing. He must be something else. Hulda Crooks is the only trail system where, when I post about it, an individual trail builder’s name gets mentioned so regularly. At places like Greer, San Clemente, Simi Valley, Santa Cruz off-menu trails, etc. the trail builders tend to remain under the radar.
Thank you. Great vid. Can’t wait to see Tony’s angle with his new toy. 👊🏽
My pleasure!
Me neither! Gimme dat footy, Tony Tomato!
was thinking that too! I've been thinking about getting a drone and using a tracking/following mode on an mtb ride.
Looks so fun! I love trails that snake ravines like that.
So fun! I can't believe I'd never ridden Pinball. It's one of my fave ravine trails now.
Love the video Alan!
Thanks Charlie!
Your videos always look great and get me motivated to get out and ride thanks Alan!!
Heck yeah! That’s what I love to hear!
Great riding and footage, those trails look like a fun flowy break from the typical technical stuff
Thanks! Yeah...it was a nice change to roll some hella smooth flow.
Those trails look super fun! We all need some flow in our lives 🍻
LOL! You said it.
Love it!
Haven't ridden there in litterally 25yrs. Nice to see it's still going strong. Been thinking of going back out there paying homage to the trail system that got me started mountain biking so long ago.... and nearly took of my finger.
Short story - inexperience, 5ft drop to flat on hard tail while wearing my wedding ring. It snagged the grip as my hands slipped down. All good now just a nice scar and fun story to tell.
Glad you didn’t lose a finger. I’m all about a silicone ring.
Hulda is still a fun playground. Come pay homage. 🤘🏾😆
Hulda has evolved a lot in the last 25 years, and several of the new trails they put in are great. (Jedi is a lot different than it was back then--it's been washed out pretty badly.)
Looks like a lot of fun. I'm jealous
Don't be jealous. Get out and ride! 🤘🏾
@@mtb_alan Florida to flat..😂
Seth Bike Hacks was killin' it in Florida not long ago. 👊🏾 Get it!
@@mtb_alan 😂
Those trails look amazing
💯
Love it my friend went their just recently.
Heck yeah! Tony was stoked.
I literally started MTB in February and PinBall was the first trail I went on, my friend who literally have been mtb since they were a kid told me its "its fun and not that bad" I went down it and on the first uphill I flew off the trail and ate it 😂😂😂😂😂 that's before I found out there is levels!!!
Ha! Yeah. Many riders quickly forget what it was like to be a beginner. And other times, our friends just like to see us fail. LOL!
I can’t wait to get up there and ride ! Haven’t been in forever !
Heck yeah!
Looks super fun and flowy. Gonna hit it soon.
Heck yeah!
Love me some hulda crooks mtb!
Same! I always undervalue that place because it's my local spot. Tony made me appreciate it again!
really nice trails
Indeed!
That looked beautiful. Just put this on my list of trails to hit! ✌🏼🤟🏼
Yeah man. I'm often reluctant to suggest it because I wonder if it's worth the trip. But it's my local trails and I tend to undervalue it. Getting Tony's perspective on it changed my mind on that.
@@mtb_alan I guess I need to make a vid, “Hulda Crooks... worth the squeeze?”
Just added to my list👍
@@joeyyates8021 oh dang. San Clemente crew invading the IE! Look out! 🤘🏾😆
Hulda is a lot of fun, we will have to try Pinball next time .
Do indeed. It's a blast!
Thank you for the video. Been a while since Ive been to Hulda Crooks. Hope u can share more other SoCal trails beyond the Big 3 of SOaks. Aliso and Greer. Coz SoCal has so much more to offer but not a lot pf vloggers are showing them. Thank You Alan!!!
No worries!
Thanks for the suggestion. I'd love to show more places. I'm a regular guy with a Monday through Friday job, and I'm limited by what I can do once a week on half of a weekend day. But I'll see what I can do. 👊🏾
Love Hulda Crooks! Flow 4sho
💯
What fun looking trails. Pinball looks like a roller coaster engineer designed it.
Ha! Right?!
tony finally made it to hulda!
Yeyer! I'm not sure when his vid is coming out, but it should be pretty rad.
I have to go there! It looks so interesting
I tend to under-value Hulda Crooks because it's my local system. But going there with Tony made me realize how good it is.
Both those trails look great, and I'm a bit surprised they are just getting attention now. Do you think it's worth a big drive to check that place out?
They're a blast.
If you'd asked me before Tony's visit, I wouldn't had said so. But Tony's stoke on Hulda Crooks made me think it might be worth the drive. Come on a weekday though if you can.
Hulda Crooks in my opinion is a public bike park ! Super Fun !
I causually ride Hulda Crooks! I can take anyone on the jumpline! Be a guide ! Super fast, flowy and different types of jumps !
🤘🏾
I didn’t realize your local to Hulda! I’m local as well!
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Looks fun! How are the climbs to the top?
Def fun!
The climbs overall aren't bad. Both have section that require consistent power output on singletrack with exposure.
I'd say of the two, the climb to the top of Sith is a bit harder.
Check lockdown trail next time if you haven't new trail almost complete but rideable fun trail, good video thanks
Thanks for the heads up! I just saw that on Trailforks.
I like the mic!
🤘🏾
I was gonna take my friends this weekend but they never woke up😂
Get new friends or go solo! 🤘🏾😆
Whoa! Who do you think you are? 6:38min video? 😂 c’mon man some of us wait a week for these to drop. Jk loved it bro
Ha! Blame it on the trail builders for not making longer trails! 😆
I know this trail Dom from Swap Moto does this one all the time. Looks Fun. Does that Drone ever get too close?
Both trails are pretty fun! I don't know why I had never ridden Pinball before but it's now on the do-it-every-time list.
I'm not sure how close the drone gets, but there were def a couple times later on that day where it sounded like it was right on top of us. You can also set it to be closer or further.
You guys have some super awesome trails in Cali.. Here is Vegas we got nothing like that.. Great Video👍🏼 where about are these trails?
Ha! The grass is always greener. I was just looking at Bootleg and other AZ trails.
Check the description for the Trailfork links. And hey...Vegas ain't that far away. SoCal weekend trip is totally doable.
Yes got the Trailforks after I commented... Thanks Bro..! Yeah your right the Grass always seems greener.. 🤣
🤘🏾
I want to ride there so bad!
Do it!
How long are the climbs for each trail?
Assuming a moderate pace, it's probably 15-20 minutes from the parking lot to the top of Scott Canyon and then another 10-15 minutes to the top of the ridgeline that drops into Sith.
Have a look at the Trailforks links in the description if you want to see more details on the trails.
@@mtb_alan not bad at all! Thanks Alan. Do you like Hulda better than Greer? I’m local to greer and love it, don’t know of the drive up to Hulda would we worth it
Personally, I like Greer better, but I would say that it's worth checking out Hulda at least once. It also has some of the big features that have shown up in some recent free-ride vids. Whether you ride those or not, it's cool to see the features in real life.
Hey Alan FYI you’re missing an ‘r’ in your card at 3:51! Just looking out for ya 👊🏻. Now I want to go ride these trails. HARD.
😆 Naw...that's Tony's new channel. The Outside MTB.
Thanks for lookin' out. 👊🏾
@@mtb_alan hahaha 🤣
Lets ride !
Hi Alan. I was just thinking of a good video I might make. I am no expert Mountain Biker and that is why Sycamore Canyon in Riverside is a great skills-building location with short climbs. However, I was introduced a section directly next to Sycamore. From a hill close to some bunkers that are fenced off and belong to March Airforce Base there are 3 trails called the Amno Trails. The trails are shockingly about a mile long and made for Intermediates and Beginners. Doing a few laps gets you to 7-10 miles. Then from there, you can cross Alessandro and do the Zig Zags, Zipidedoeda, and other single track over there and get a good 10-25 miles.
Want to meet up and I can show you where the trails are? They can be hard to find.
They got jumps, rocks, and go-arounds built-in. Perfect for beginners. Also one of the fastest Flow Trails has a white ghost bike for a memorial of someone who dead 2 months ago because someone left a wooden drop.
Thanks for the suggestion, Frank. 🙏🏾 I do know those trails. Pretty cool trails. 👍🏾
Great video as always, I slow down your full pulls to really get to know the trail before I try it. Quick question, with full face helmets getting so light, do you thing more people will start wearing them full time? I see Katie (sp?) always wearing one.
Thanks! Hope it helps. Keep in mind that that was my first time on Pinball, and there are some things I'd do a bit differently.
re: full face
I see more people with full-face helmets. They're always gonna be heavier and hotter than an open face, but helmets like the Proframe that I wear or the TLD Stage that Katy has are light, breathe well, and make full-face more doable for pedally rides.
Hope that helps!
@@mtb_alan Thanks! Looking to get the TLD Stage for my son and myself. Better safe than sorry.
@@echobenav8 nice!
You have amazing skin! Can you please do a skin care routine video?? lol j/k... But not really..I actually want to know haha
LOL! I just try to eat all right, and make sure to sweat regularly. 🤷🏾♂️
@@mtb_alan Damn, that's it?? No moisturizers or retin a? You sir were blessed with awesome genes lol
I got some pocs. It's all in the lighting. ;)
Don't know where it is but i want to live close to it (uk viewer)
Hee hee...well, when things open back up, make a trip to Southern California. ;)
nice flow trails, but no way those are Black Diamond trails.
It's relative to the trail systems. Are there trails at Hulda Crooks you would say are black diamonds?
