Just did the 30K ride with your group last weekend. Unfortunately I did not record the ride, but I have watched this video numerous times since it's the exact route we too and so I can re-live the ride vicariously through you! Love it!
Just rode your route today and it was a blast! That steep rock roller is a monster in person, props to her for sending it. I went down those other two she hit as well as that double rock one at the edge, but decided to save that steep one for another day. Then finished with ridgeline. It was tough to get down as I hadn't experienced anything that loose, but fortunately a local 14 year old showed me the lines and coached me down it lol. Great video thanks for the guide!
Hey Alan - Love the format you have with this video that includes the grinds and climbs. Most folks focus on the sexy downhill but forget that you need to earn the turns. It's also great that you're working with Kady - she's fearless!!
Alan. This is not a beginner's trail. It was our first time at the Santiago Trial ( we have done the Fullerton loop only before this) . Going down chutz is so much harder than it looks. On a Marlin 6 hard tail and having BMI over 30 , let's just say I struggled a tiny little bit...
Thank you very much Alan. Going to ride this tomorrow for the first time. Been here many years to photograph cross country running events. Always wondered where the bikes were going.
There he goes again practicing his manuals! I've been working on doing wheelies but thinking about building a manual training rig for the garage. Love these S'Oaks vids, thanks for the rad footy Alan.
Thanks! Happy to be of service. Won't be able to do a Greer Ranch guide until it's a fully sanctioned trail system. Keep an eye on my and other mtb Instagram accounts for updates on that and how you can help!
Great content! The maps and insite are above any channels I've seen. My wife is from Newport, but we live in Santa Cruz. So finding trails is hard when we travel to see family. Thanks for the directions. Ounce again, great content.
Heck yeah! You're gonna have a blast. And this time of year is the best time to ride Santiago Oaks. If it has rained recently, make sure and check www.ocparks.com/parks-trails/alerts to make sure the trails are open. 👍🏾
@@mtb_alan I have a hard tail and full suspension. I was thinking of bringing the hardtail just in case something happens during transit. Is hardtail acceptable for these trails?
That was pretty cool. I've done some of that with my skills coach. I think with your trail guide I could probably come back and do all of that by myself
Thanks for putting this up Alan. I had wanted to try out Santiago Oaks but had been putting it off since I didn't know the park or have anyone nearby that really wanted to go. This helped me put a ride together and I just got back from my first visit there using this route. Great, easy to follow guide, thanks! 👍👊
Really like your videos Allan 😊👍👊 Will get warmer where i live comming week 👍 Last week we got some more snow, but think that was last for this spring. 😆🤣 Time to pump up the tires again now 😉👍
Love it whenever you make videos like these, a complete and detailed trail guide. Been there 3 times and my buddies love to park in the Elem School which doesnt give me a peace of mind thinking my car might get towed. Now, I can go there by myself and follow your trail guide. Thank you so much Alan. Hope you can make more videos like this as its really helpful. Youve done it on Aliso too so I can smell Greer nxt time?
Thanks for subscribing! In the event that you don't find riding buddies by April, it's usually pretty easy to connect with people on the trail at Santiago Oaks. 👊🏾
Whats up Alan!!!! A group of us will be out there opening weekend for snow summit. Are there any trails around snow summit you would recommend before we hit the park??? We are coming out from Vegas so we don't know what trails are out there lol
Yo! You can do an out and back on Plumbers (www.trailforks.com/trails/plumbers/). This also connects with Skyline (www.trailforks.com/trails/skyline-trail-48106/), and you can go as far as you want on that trail. You can also go up Plumbers, then head up Pirates and descend Fall Line (www.trailforks.com/trails/fall-line-52356/). Fall Line is my favorite off-park trail up there. Hope that helps.
@@mtb_alan ride what you have of course. But knowing you came from the bronson I was wondering if you felt overbiked or if you liked the way it handled on these smoother trails

Heck yeah! Way to go for it. Yeah…that roller is more intimidating in person, but it’s pretty smooth if you hold your line. 👍🏾
Such a rad place to ride and have fun. Just to note for others weekends can be very busy there. Try to go during week if your schedule allows.
Good point.
Thank you for the video...all the time we spend riding Chutes, this helped us finally find the Oaks jumps and drops!!!
Nice! Happy to help!

Indeed. That was the reason for the suggestion to go down the other Chutes trail. 👍🏾 Hope you still had fun!

My buddy is taking me out tomorrow here and I’m so stoked!!
Sweet! Have a rad day!
This is a fantastic resource, thanks for posting!
No worries!
By far the most intuitive turn by turn trail guide video to Oaks. Hope you have a Greer Ranch tutorial soon. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for posting this Vid. I’m going Saturday for my first time and hoping not to get lost. Cheers brother!

Great video Alan! I dig how you've given the "lay of the land" here. I need to go ride this area! Thanks!
My pleasure! Glad to help.
Nice, Need to get out there one of these days!
Thanks. DO EET!
Awesome loop man, you flew down cactus me and my dad (who just started mountain biking) we’re on our brakes the whole time.
Thanks! I was on my brakes a lot on Cactus when I started. :)
Thanks for some tips... visiting my buddy in Sou Cal and he wants to take me here... Wanted to make sure it's not too technical.

@@mtb_alan bummer… looks like too much rain next week. I’d rather let trails dry for 3 days before I ride.
Good call. You can always check the park’s specific page for trails status. www.ocparks.com/santiagooaks

Another great guide Alan! And timely as I’ve had a few people asking about how Oaks is. Gonna send them this vid! ✌🏼🤟🏼
Thanks Adam! Appreciate the share! 👊🏾
Awesome trail guide - I love the inset video
Thanks! 🙏🏾
Way to push yourself over that steep rollover, Kelly!
this is so sick..i'm definitely notifying that bell!

Great editing you should have at least 100k!
Haha! Thanks! We're almost 15% of the way there.

Awesome guide 👍🏽 after watching tons of riding videos there it's nice to finally get some more background info on the trails!
👊🏾
Still not ready for chutes ridge line.
Take it one section at a time when you feel ready. 👊🏾
Awesome vid!! Heading there tomorrow! How long did this full run take you from start -> finish?!
Sweet! Couple hours.
Great work again Alan. How the heck does anyone give you a thumbs down????? I don't get it. Some people 🙄
Ha! Thanks. Nice thing is that RUclips sees thumbs down as engagement so it’s still good for the vid. Jokes on them. 😆
Great trail guide! What's that background music? Sounds video-gamey, like sonic or something.
Thanks!
Check the description. There’s a link in there fir where I get my music. 👍🏾
can you do one for other trails in the area like Bonelli please?
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look into it.

I am bad with directions. Is there 4g to play this video for example on the trial?
If you haven't already, download the Trailforks app onto your phone. There are links to all the trails in the description.
Just subscribed! Awesome trail! Do they allow ebike here?
Thanks for subscribing!
As of right now, ebikes aren’t allowed in any place run by OC Parks, which includes Santiago Oaks.
Any bike rentals in the area, I may hit that trail on Sunday but I didn't bring my bike! lol
The Path Bike Shop in Tustin just down the road just started up their rental program again, but I'm not sure how many bikes they have available.
Do you do group rides I'm just starting out
I'm local to oc
I don’t have anything planned at the moment. But The Path Bike Shop in Tustin has weekly group rides. Good people!
Newly subscribed and enjoying the videos! Heading out to Santigo Oaks the last week in April, anyone going to be in town?

@MTB_Alan, the Ayvri link doesn't work anymore. Any chance you have.the GPX?
Thanks for the heads up.
I don't have a GPX, but the Trailforks links in the description should get you pretty far.
@@mtb_alan Thanks! I ended up just watching your video slowly and mapping out the route manually for my wahoo :)
Every time I go to oaks I have to do cactus and if I don’t well I’m sad 😞
My advice is to try smiling all the way down the trail.
Hi Alan. Are ebikes allowed in this trail?
Not that I know of. As of right now, OC Parks currently doesn’t allow ebikes on any of their trails.
@@mtb_alan Thank you!

rode here after watching this vid... went otb
Hope you’re all right. 👊🏾
I really need to ride Oaks more. I just get intimidated.

Random - what is your go pro setting?
I have a full vid on this. It's on the 8, and I use the same settings on my 9.

Interesting.
What's the total mileage and elevation gain for this ride?
About 7 miles and 1200 feet. 🤘🏾
Dude did you feel over biked on this trail ? Nomad seems a little overkill for this terrain
What do you suggest I do? 🤔
