They lost something after Pete, Pyromania was a really good album but it was probably just the last rockin songs they had in them after "the change." Their first two albums were magic, Pyromania did have some good songs on it, they as a hard rockin band died after that.
Pete Willis was one lucky dude. Played in the band in their raw, early rocking days when he was young. Survived to tell about it. And now in the hall of fame. Who else can say that?

Although I do agree with people when they say that the later Def Leppard material is "musically" superior... but this old stuff with Pete really captures the spirit of rock and roll. This is my all time fave Def Lep song.
Yep! It was Def Leppard's raw sound, and it was awesome. Pyromania and Hysteria had a lot of production tricks thrown in, that made it not sound like what you would hear while during a live show.
I heard Mutt in an interview say he had asked the boys if they wanted to make another High N Dry album, or more of a commercial type of album. Dang I wished they said another High N Dry album!

Their first 2 albums were their best in my opinion. This is when they really rocked. After these they got more commercial. I was blown away when ON THROUGH THE NIGHT album ended up on my turntable as a teenage kid with a Japanese HONDO LP Copy in my hands. Still one of my all time favorite bands
