As Heineken says "probably the best song ever written"...it reaches the parts other songs can't
Carlsberg
Watching the band, having a Bud 😛
I think the greatest thing about this band is not their music, but the fact that they didn't ditch their drummer after he lost an arm in a car accident. That's true friendship and loyalty.
So right
A one-handed drummer that out-plays two handers
Their music is also amazing
The story according to MTV at the time, was that the drummer began figuring out ways to drum one-handed while he was still in the hospital bed recuperating from the accident that cost him his arm. He would tap out rhythms with his remaining hand and his two feet while in bed. That's dedication.
Yeah but then stop and think about the pete willis thing and not so much what happened to the loyalty there they said it was because of his drinking and partying but hell they was all wild back then high n dry .
HYSTERIA!......One of the best albums of all time.

The 80's, the feeling is indescribable, the hurt I feel now, longing for it, and knowing it shall never be again. Then I look at the world around me now, and I cry; because its over.

1983, 22 years old, Bartending at a killer local bar, living with five good friends in a party house with indoor pool, driving a new 1983 Boss 302 Mustang, Def Leopard always blasting, Wow, The best times ever. I’ve tried to tell my kids what they missed. From Atlanta, Georgia. I think I was blessed to experience the best times this world has seen.

When I hear this song, I’m overwhelmed with the feeling that we don’t realize we’re living the best days of our lives until they’ve long since passed. I was 17 and a junior in high school when this was a huge hit. I was in such a damn hurry to grow up and leave all the teenage “bullshit” behind. Now that I’m all grown up, 52 now, I’d give anything to live these days once again.
Amen Gordon. Well said sir, well said indeed. This song just has that reflective vibe and if you were 17 as I was when it was popular, you are transported back to those halcyon days of the 1980s.
ME TOO.,BEST DAYS IN MY HEART
True but out all the generations early rock Bill Haley and the following generations didnt let us down but the crap some these new bands are churning out depressing but hey at least we keep the dreams alive but coming here first girl I ever kissed was to this song :)

Hi Steve, totally feel the same way. LOVE this song, and LOVE Def Leppard!
My hat goes off to Rick Allen most drummers would've retired but his perseverance and love for the drums helped him over come such tremendous odds Def Leppard is on my top 10 playlist when I drive long distances
Hats off to the rest of the band for keeping him!! Most bands would have kicked him aside and moved on with a 2 armed drummer. They made the right choice. Proves their loyalty too. Not much of that in bands.
ed pettit most would have hung it up after they left that girl behind in the ditch at chappaquidick. what..? he lost an arm in the incident yet Mary Joe Kopekne lost her anal hyman and eventually her life!
He almost did quit. the Band kept his spirits up so he could figure out how to keep doing what he does now.
Ed Petitt and just think Journey turned their back on Steve Perry who helped make them famous when he broke his hip..
The problem with listening to Def Leopard when I drive is that I get speeding tickets :-)

When "Hysteria" released, I was a teen and to this day, it has always kept that 80s nostalgia feeling alive. I wish we had a theme park dedicated to the 80s decade with all of the nostalgia of music, movies, TV shows, MTV, clothes style and the way we lived to have fun without the use of cellphones/internet.
Look around ~ the styles are on the way back. However, as the saying goes " if you wore it the first time around, you're to old to wear it again" That being said, hey! It's your life, do, say, wear whatever you want to! Have fun with it!

At age 47, I look back at all the bands and ballads of the 80s and very early 90s and while I was a huge scorpions, Crue, skid row, Aeorosmith, Queensryche and GnR fan (along with so many others) I honestly think this was both the best BALLAD AND that they were the best BAND of that era.
They pulled off the working class hard rock songs as good as any or better than most while also being great at the prettier sounding melody type rock songs....Up tempo or slower, makes no difference...LIsten to the whole High n Dry album and it's so hard rocking, but they threw in "Bringin on the Heartbreak" which was different but still a great rock song and it certainly was the first example by them that showed what they could do in addition to songs like High n Dry, Let it Go, Mirror - Mirror, ect.

I always opened at my job when i was at Fridays and i would play my music while we set up for the day. I was plaing rocket before shift meeting and my boss overheard it and was like is that Def Leppard and i was like hell yeah, then we proceeded to talk about the drummer losing his arm and how we both love this band. I love talking about music with people who have similar tastes. It was the Fridays that was hit by the tornado in (correction) 2017.
Yeah, they are true brother s that care about each other instead of all about money. They waited for Rick to recover and learn to play again. Not many bands would do that.
@@johnyandell8948 thats how you know who your true friends are. I also doubt Rush would get back together with the lost of Neil
@@asylum8934 Yes, who could replace Neil's drum throne? No one could even come close to his mystical rythums.

Hysteria
Def Leppard
Out of touch, out of reach, yeah
You could try to get closer to me
I'm in luck, I'm in deep, yeah
Hypnotized, I'm shakin' to my knees
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fight
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near
Out of me, into you yeah
You could hide it's just a one way street
Oh, I believe I'm in you, yeah
Open wide, that's right, dream me off my feet
Oh, believe in me
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will
Ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near
Come on
I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire
Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it?
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will,
Ooh babe (Oh can you feel it),

Oh, I get hysterical, hysterical, hysteria, hysteria
When you get that feelin'
You better believe it, start belivin'
Good it's a miracle
Oh say you will, oh babe
Say you will
Get closer to me, get closer baby
Baby, closer, (closer) get closer (get closer), closer to me
Thanks

One of the 3 best of the Hard Rock of all times , sound , lyrics ...anything on this track is a master-piece.
Error in the second line, should read
"You could try, to get a piece of me"
@@niallmcentee9400 No, that lyric is correct, but they'd never write something as stupid as "I'm in luck, I'm in deep" though. Don't care what the official lyric video says, Joe clearly sings "I'm in Love", not "I'm in luck"
When music was REALLY MUSIC!!!!!!
Roy Winnett when music was Art, Passion, Soul & Magic combined.

ROCK ON!!!!!!!! 🙆
Art, passion, and soul that's what music is all about OK

You got that right. He really rocks :)
@@harryboyes2812 Yeah, he would be twice as good if he had 2 arms!!!
@@TicklerDude actually a lot of people have said he got better after the accident. He was a good drummer with 2 arms, but became simply amazing with one- and his trusty customized drum set.
You know that most of Hysteria was done with a drum machine?Nonetheless great band and album even if I prefer Pyro
@@biker7028 I love the album, but yeah, I often think it sounds over-engineered. It seems that was Mutt Lange's thing at the time.
HYSTERIA is STILL their biggest lp of all time. They rocked it in the 80's!

Hot stuff!!!
April 2024 , this is still Rocking even after all these years , Classic Leppard with the Late Great Steve giving it loads as per usual , just such a shame he ain't here anymore, he really did give that extra bite to the music.

Best times
Yes thats so true. Best times and best music ever
Steve Clark, the best guitar player on history. He was the heart of Def Leppard.
Elizabeth Steiner tbh it was his chemistry with Phil and all of them and he was great at putting different like uses of the guitar into the songs because they didn't use the same thing almost over and over like turning something different they don't want to use the same thing over and over like some f****** songs to he was brilliant in the Phil did a great job because they were in all the terror twins and they known each other for a long time besides Joe and Rick and that I mean Rick Savage because around for awhile while they found him really quick
Elizabeth Steiner 💗💗💗
Elizabeth Steiner definitely right about maker of this band period but not best ever. Just being honest. Right freaking on that you mentioned Clark! Keep his memory alive
