Dude is 55. Born in 1968. 1 year older than me. Just killing it for over 2 decades. I've been trying to tell people how amazing Morgan is as not only drummer but he's doing a lot of vocals at the same time in the actual song and let's not even get into how great he is as a lyricist. His writing talent is easily on the same level. I'm amazed with him and every member of this band.
@bambooforrests Absolutely 💯 🤘 They have a competitive scream thing going between LaJon, Clint, and Morgan. When Clint left the band for a few years, then came back, Morgan said he had to step it up because "my man" Clint developed a deep scream that was powerful and inspiring... So much talent. 🙏 Edit: Clint was doing a solo album and working with Korn on his break with Sevendust.
Yep. Even the mistakes are good lol. He's always super nervous to be the center of attention though. That's probably why lol. Watch his 2005 PASIC performance. He was super nervous
I met Morgan when he and the rest of the crew came to GA, had a meet and greet with them they so down to earth guys, took time to sign autographs take pics and interact with everyone, great musicians👍👍
Yeah buddy! I was there too at the Velvet Underground!! I actually won early entry on a radio call in and chilled with them before the show..... dudes were cool af!
@@jwilko555 cool man👍 I actually saw them in Columbus Georgia, I won tickets on the radio rock 106.9. They definitely were awesome on and off stage, I'd like to see them again 👍
I've seen him live back in the late 90s early 2000 and is in my opinion he's one of the most underrated drummer's in his genre. His best attribute in my opinion or his top unique quality is his showmanship, drumming great as ever.
@@stavroskoul732 I guess it depends how you define nu-metal. Nu-metal to me is metal with rap. Ex: Linkin Park. Alternative metal to me is bands like Sevendust, Alter Bridge and Disturbed
Saw them live a year and a half ago. 55 minute set and that drum tech you see briefly replaced 2 Snare heads... Dude hits like a truck. Best part is his energy and vocals.
@@knreal He's one of my favorite drummers. Him and Charlie Benante. Ofc I loved Vinnie. Miss him. Glad I saw Pantera a bunch in the 90s. I've only seen Anthrax twice. Last year was the first time I got to see Sevendust. One of the best shows ever. I'm glad I finally got to go. Now I'm going from now on. Easily my favorite band. I already got the meet and greet package. Might do the drum clinic next time. Thanks
April D that’s awesome! Yes pleas do yourself a favor and go check this out. It’s so much fun. He gave some awesome insight on the business and how he got his endorsements. Don’t bring sticks and a pad cause the email tells you to but Morgan strictly says he doesn’t practice ever hardly haha.
@@knreal while dude that's awesome! I would definitely do it for the $150. What state was this in? Morgan's one of my favorite drummers and that would be so awesome to be at one of his drum clinics
I'm still wondering what happened that caused him to go in the hospital and he wouldnt say not that we need to know Just curious is all cause I'm a huge sevendust fan got to see them live 1 time so far and hope to again
He had a big stomach mass that should have killed him. Did emergency surgery amd he’s all good. He literally had stomach mass fluid leaking into his bloodstream. He stated this on a podcast few months ago I believe. He’s all good
@@knreal ah ok thanks man good thing he did have that surgery I hate when bands change members I seen all the original band members open for godsmack in 2015 it was a great show I have some videos on my channel from it only concert I recorded
He did technically use a double kick kit on the Kill the Flaw album cycle. Most drummers use the pedal now but still have second kick drum live for show.
yeah it's become more of a visual thing to people who are into the drums enough to notice that kind of thing :) most top drummers now can do alot of shit on one pedal they can on two... they still use the second so they aren't abusing the one leg but yeah I've seen Shannon Lucas double kicking with one foot 🤣🤣🤣
WhyTheHorseface I assume so. What you hear on the video is what he hears in his in Ear monitors. Certain songs he uses certain samples and vocal parts to help him guide through a song.
Robert Heflin yes he does play to a click EVERY song and show. They have programmed intros between songs and a click goes with it. He uses other samples in songs to guide him through the song. Trust me, This drum hang shed a lot of light on what he does.
Craig Babineaux He plays to a click because they run pre-recorded parts on a computer that he has to be in sync with. If they didn’t play along with “tracks”, he could still keep the band in time because “real drummers” (as you say) keep good time. It has nothing to do with the singer and everything to do with the fact that they have more sound onstage than the band is actually creating.
Chad Young before he played all of us got to sit behind his kit and take a pic and few of us even got to play on it for a minute. His snare stand was being weird and it was probably one of us fuckin it up on accident lol
Never heard this guy play. What’s with the loud click for everyone to hear as well? I found this to be as basic as it gets. Hmmm. I thought I heard this guy was/is amazing(?). Perhaps there are other songs he’s more proficient at... Who knows. Seems like a cool guy tho.

does he run a click in his ears all night?
