And hey gang - sorry for the abrupt ending and totally off-the-cuff demo here. This was literally an audio "tone test" to see what the patches I've been tweaking sounded like on camera. I had no intention of actually posting/sharing this with anyone, but then after seeing all the messages and excitement from viewers about the new amp, I thought - "Ehh, why not?" So this is a VERY candid video of me playing around and stuff earlier today. Just a heads up - thanks and ROCK ON!
A few more things... 1. I really like this lil' thing. It's cool, but you REALLY have to pay attention to what you're doing and tweak things like crazy, but I'm starting to get a better feel for it. 2. I think I'm going to eventually grab the Kemper powered cab and also the Level II upgrade - all in due time! That way I can keep the HeadRush/V-Amp rig (it's a good combo) and have the Kemper rig completely separate. I've also heard that Kemper amps sounds better with Kemper cabs, so I'll probably grab one. 3. Editing/EQ discovery - the "Clarity" control while editing is crucial and helps get rid of that nasally mid-range "honk" and it also seems to tighten the bass frequencies/tone in a great way. The EQ on this thing is responsive as hell, and when you change one EQ setting even 0.05db, it noticeably affects everything and you can hear it readjust the sound/tone. I've never had an amp that was this EQ sensitive before, but it's cool because you can dial this thing in like I've never seen. 4. I'm going to create another video in the near future where I use all five of my electrics through all five of my first bank of five edited presets. You can REALLY hear the character of each guitar through this thing, and that's something I noticed was lacking with the V-Amp. The only guitars that noticeably sound different through the V-Amp are the Tele and D'Angelico, but through the Kemper the tone of each guitar actually comes through clearer. The Strat sounds more like a Strat, the Tele is off the charts, the Les Paul has its low end beefy growl happening, the PRS sounds clearer/better, and the D'Angelico has a sweet tone with an edgy blues "honk." Anywhey...I'm finding plenty of time to tweak and edit this thing with the snowstorm that hit, so I'm keeping my butt at home, staying warm/safe, and playing my fingers off - but in a good way! Stay tuned folks! 🔥 ROCK ON 🔥
Dave , you have found kind of what I found out myself about 5-6 years ago when I Got my Pigtronics Philosopher king amp , and that’s how much different my Strat vs Tele vs Ibanez vs Taylor Electrics all sounded & responded at the same amp settings & how much more different each one added / subtracted from the setup sound wise . Looks like you’re in your element ,still in PJ’s probably from the day you got it having never turned it off or stopped noodling around with it like I did 😆😜. While my rig is second fiddle to that Kemper , I fully understand the allure & fun you’re having …..👍. Happy New year Buddy , and stay safe & warm this winter .
Great stuff! I lived with the kemper a few years practicing, at regearsals and gigs. Although I love the flexibility, I always go back to real cabs instead or FRFR. The kemper has that mid range honk sometimes that newer modelers dont, however the kemper does sound great in a mix and in a band setting. I always ended up having and EQ post on all patches. Keep up the great work! 🎉
Its soooo good to listen to you fooling around that its almost therapeutic ...I think this kemper, once its dialed-in, can be a very good live gig tool. The Rock lead 2 with delay is awesome!!! A huge improvement compared with the unboxing day distorted tones.
Sounds good! I just bought a Fender TMP a couple of months ago and can't believe how much it inspires me to dial in tones and play to the backing tracks and bands I grew up listening too. Love your stuff and enjoy your new toy!!
Sounds great, David! And I bet those presets will be great for playing live too and won't be impacted by the Fletcher Munson effect. For the studio though you could bump up the higher frequencies a bit, including a 1-3db increase at around 800-1000Hz to make the sound cut a bit better.
The Rig Manager makes it all really easy so you can tweak it to your ear. I play mine through a Yamaha THR and it sounds fantatic but Ive been leaning towards getting a Kemper Power Kab.
Rig sounds great, I always dug the 90s rack mount stuff . I was curious about your thoughts on Strat mods , (Gilmore seven way, treble bleeds , the cool little wire jump to get the tone control to work on the bridge pick up , ) I’ve done a lot of these mods , It’s FUN . Ya gotta have a FrankenStrat around to try this stuff 😂
Absolutely enjoy your channel and the videos! Any chance of doing some Trevor Rabin ideas? Another great guitarist that maybe gets under the radar. Happy New Year!
For videos when you are covering a specific artist and band, were you planning on downloading the artist tones that other people have made (or at least the free ones)? I forgot that this also has the capability to do that kind of stuff.
Hey! There's a Toto Chordplay lesson and several Lukather Three-For-All episodes. Do a search on the channel and you'll find those lessons! Good luck and have fun! ROCK ON!
Hey man, I have an enormous collection of rigs for the Kemper. I think have nearly 14,000 rigs that are not on the Rig Exchange. A lot of them were pricey and no longer available. Let me know if you're interested in me sending some over for you. Anything you want, I've got it.
All these units are like that ,mostly the input gain needs to be set for the pickups you are using Ad Dave is alluding too it takes some work but is worth it Amps sound great but they have a place A profiler will deliver studio quality tones live....that an amp can't do

I could listen to you play all day Dave. Fantastic. Bluesy crunch was my favourite.

Level 2 gets you the Kemper Fuzz Factory which completely blew my mind, it's incredible.
And of course Morphing as well...which is insane.

Nice to see you let loose finally! Sounds great

Still the best digital tone unit on the planet. 👍
Beautiful playing. 👋
Have fun with it! Sounds fantastic.
Coming along nicely... very useable tones there.

Great sounds all around, even better playing 🤘🏻 Nice jammie pants……
The tone now matches the talent. Very nice playing.
Sounds great.
Just curious but do you just record direct to camera or ?
Perfect for a live sound at home !
I have the same comfy pants, lol! I dont quite have the same awesome tones though. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
I just bought the Headrush Flex Prime. Now I want this too 😂 Being old means I get all the toys
Are you recording through the studio monitors or have it hooked up to an amp/cab? Thanks!! 🙏
Digging #2 best so far...;)
Wow, amazing 🎉🎉🎉
Sos crack David!!!
Love the channel and your tone. Is it stock or did you add the level 2 and 3 patches?
Sounds great man! Kemper is still great after all these years. The guitar is it a Fender Ultra? Thanks

I bought a V Amp Pro because of your channel and I love it but what to do now ................🤪
That sounds really excellent. Could you please tell us your delay parameters from patch four?
Does it mave a patch that makes me play as well as you, Dave?
Just a thought: Toto Chordplay???
Hey! There's a Toto Chordplay lesson and several Lukather Three-For-All episodes.
Do a search on the channel and you'll find those lessons!
Good luck and have fun!
ROCK ON!
I don't always watch videos labeled TONE TEST #1, but when I do (and they rock) I say how about TONE TEST#2!
Sounds great, how are you hooking it up?
i miss seeing the lights on your amp 🙃

Right on, man!
Not sure I’d stick with a unit that eventually sounds good but only after a ton of tweaking.
It's actually really cool.
You can dial-in exactly what you want and are looking for!
All these units are like that ,mostly the input gain needs to be set for the pickups you are using
Ad Dave is alluding too it takes some work but is worth it
Amps sound great but they have a place
A profiler will deliver studio quality tones live....that an amp can't do
yeah
A good musician can make any piece of gear sound great. It's just another tool in the toolbox.
