99% sure that most all of the people saying that what he plays is "easy" have never even sat behind a kit or are amateurs at best. Turn on a sevendust track, sit down at your kit and try to play along. His drumming is deceptively difficult and extremely polyrhythmic at times. The ignorance is real.
I love how people say he isn't technically skilled. He went to MIT and is trained in Jazz drumming. He is technical. It's called playing for the song, so if you think he is playing easy beats, well guess what. He is but it fits the song. Any seasoned drummer will tell you that playing a ridiculous amount of fills or rudiments will kill what this song is. He can drum around any of you haters all day long.
Nothing worse than an un-animated drummer at a live show...Morgan Rose brings the energy up big time during Sevendust live shows! I'm not even a drummer but I tend to focus in on drummers art live gigs, he is awesome!
I am a guitarist/musician, but I have a percussionist idol, and his name is of course Morgan Rose... I really want to add a very important element to and on behalf of everyone's comment. If ever you have the chance to meet Morgan you'll see he is the most humble and respectful and friendly guy you could hope to meet. He treated my drummer/friends/band mates and myself with the coolest courtesy ever. We met them at Ziggys in Winston Salem NC, and while talking to him he excused himself for a moment to take a phone call from the late Dimebag who called to let him know Lane Staley had passed away. He trusted us to keep it quiet, which we did, for Lanes family hadn't been notified nor had the press. I Love and respect this man with all my blood...Incredible percussionist, and incredible person..
Morgan Rose is a very respectful and kind human being, BUT, you're full of shit on the family nor the press having been notified - #1 - it was his mother, with the help of the police, who found him dead, after his accountant called her to let her know there had been zero activity on his account for two weeks, so she and the police went to his condo.#2 - ANY death that the police are present is immediately known by the press, since they monitor the police for such newsworthy events. So, you thought someone found him dead and said "I better call Dimebag?" lol.
He is a really humble and cool guy. My boyfriend and I met him for the first time this year and the rest of the band for a meet and greet but Morgan was still around and we got to talk to him. It's like talking to an old friend once you get over the fact that you are talking to one of your heroes.
all the sevendust guys are super humble and are really sweet guys. all of them were great guys and all down to earth, but out of the 100s of bands ive met over the years lajon is the only person to ask my name. not that, that bothers me or anything but you kind of do the whole "hey "insert name" nice to meet you and they usually will be oh hey man thanks for coming out or what ever, i was a bit taken back when lajon replied with "hey man whats your name?" i had to think for a second haha, i said dan and he goes nice to meet you dan then chatted for a few mins" something so small, but it totally made my day, i wasn't just another head in the sea of people
When I went to one of his concerts he was playing and he threw one of his drumsticks off the ground and bounced to a fan he was still playing with one drumstick in the fan through it back to him
at 245 he twirled it to himself like that...i've seen them live 3 times, and morgan always has something new like that that blows your mind and reminds everyone how good he really is and how original his style is...he's the man
i'm a drummer and as a musician but first of all as a music lover..i FUCKING LOVE to see and hear drummers like him.. having fun and still playing so tight.. \\m// ...what's that ride? by the way ...
You think Morgan can't play - go grab your sticks and get on your kit and warm up with this: ruclips.net/video/8oa5mXYDowE/видео.html Then come back and rewrite your comment.
He is just having so much fun blasting at every cymbal and drum with reckless abandon and love for that song to be comfortable to play with that emotion and feel….. a true drum master class on jamming!!
What the heck just happened 2:45 ? did someone by you throw a drumstick to Morgan? HELL Yeah @ 3:40 drumstick behind the back move. I've been behind Morgan a few times and I can just sit and watch him play all day. He's very entertaining.
Morgan Rose is THE MAN. He has mad skills! Tthe best part is watching him play during his concerts. He has a blast up there performing for his fans. Morgan Rose I give you a 10. I've been a huge Sevendust fan and I love listening to you play bro. Keep it up brotha!
@Schatje79 What he plays is easy... now!. lol. how he plays it it's not... there's a difference between technical and showmanship.... now this guy is awesome as a showmanship... imagen him playing the same thing but without doing all the tricks... that would be boring.. but with all the tricks and stuff it makes it look really hard.
Sevendust's monthly expenditures consist mostly of Morgan's drumsticks which he keeps tossing around everywhere and his cymbals which probably break after just a couple of gigs.
When I go to concerts I have so much fun watching the drummer. I hardly ever watch the front man. Hence why Tool is one of my favorite bands. Maynard knows his drummer is the best in the world. Which is why he's front and center with all the spotlights. Morgan is great! There's barely a song they play in their sets that lets him take much of a break at all!
An incredible performer who wrote drum parts that were built for live performances. This man knew from the beginning that he wasn't making "studio band" music and designed parts that were intended to be performed every day for months at a time. That's not "easy"; that's brilliant.
I've played like that before and that's anger, frustration, and hurt. Drums are a good outlet for that. Morgan and the whole Sevendust crew have been through alot. Im so glad their still putting out great music!
Im late to the party. Im a drummer of over 30 years. Dude is all that! If you dont understand or try to make comparisons to your favorite jazz drummer, youre an idiot. Love me some Morgan!!!
I think one of the best things about Morgan Rose is that he brings the whole package to the drums. In today’s world, you simply can not be just a great drummer. You have to be great capturing everyone’s eye, and keeping it. For sure, he’s technical. His riffs, fills, and beats are all balls ass. He’s a beast. But he also forces you to pay attention to him. He’s the complete package, and Sevendust will forever be worth your money just based on his abilities, and force back there. Coming from a thirty year veteran of playing drums live, this guy is fucking hero in the drumming community, and we all a-predicate what it is that he brings to the table.
You should check out John Otto from Limp Bizkit. He’s an incredible drummer who has great groove and phat beats. He can handle both soft jazz and metal.
@lolazo806 man i dont think you know what you are talking about...to play what he plays as accurate and agressive as he does is not easy at all...not to mention all the TECHNICAL fills and transitions he adds in to his showmanship....Morgan Rose is a BEAST
When I have shitty days, I come home, open my computer and click my bookmarks and find this video. I then sit down, close my eyes, and pick up my ear phones while this video loading. I start to pray and thank God for allowing me another day to live and for all those who have forgone their lives in order for me to perform my job. And when 1:23 hits, I fucking salute them by banging my fucking head.
I honestly think that I've never heard or read that people saying he isn't a technical drummer. They've probably gotta stupid if they really think that or maybe jealous of him being better or well known than them.
99% sure that most all of the people saying that what he plays is "easy" have never even sat behind a kit or are amateurs at best. Turn on a sevendust track, sit down at your kit and try to play along. His drumming is deceptively difficult and extremely polyrhythmic at times. The ignorance is real.
Dean Johnson 99% have never been in a real studio with a real producer and click track. Sorts the men from the boys. This guy kicks.
***** lol so true!
He beats the kit like it stole something. Fucking beast.
+Dean Johnson Love his style. Let the haters hate , meanwhile he's up there just killing it
he went to p.i.t. for god sakes! people just don't know!
I love how people say he isn't technically skilled. He went to MIT and is trained in Jazz drumming. He is technical. You preach that shit!!!!!!!!! 👌
His kick patterns are so god damn good.
10 years on and this comment stands true. Sevendust would approve. They're pretty consistently awesome as well.
he is a monster, period
Damn straight.. 🎉🎉 might be 10 in the world w his skill and ability.. He's a drum god
How can you dislike this drumming??!!
There's a guy that loves his job.
The Chuck Norris of drums!
one of the best drummers in the world
Nothing worse than an un-animated drummer at a live show...Morgan Rose brings the energy up big time during Sevendust live shows! I'm not even a drummer but I tend to focus in on drummers art live gigs, he is awesome!
As an un-animated drummer, i endorse this message!!!!
U got that right
What a great guy, you can tell he's having fun.
I am a guitarist/musician, but I have a percussionist idol, and his name is of course Morgan Rose... I really want to add a very important element to and on behalf of everyone's comment. That's awesome I think the guy is a genius at drums!
Now I like him even more!
Morgan plays drums like he’s in a bar fight!
Morgan Rose is the truth....the energy and his style is unique.
3:41 trick 100 points
3:44 around the neck, god he his good...
One of the most underrated drummers from one of the most underrated bands
Three favourite drummers Tomas Haake (Meshuggah) Brian Mantia (Primus) and Morgan Rose.
Very cool but Primus is Herb, dude
HAHA! Straight clownin and still killin it!
Butch Coplin For real though. That's the talent that is Morgan Rose.
Really need to be able to hit the like button more than once on these kind of videos.
Anyone saying that playing to sevendust is easy is out of their damn mind. Elite control!
I could watch this all day!
Seen this dude play drums in 99 at The Main Event in Toledo OH. Dudes performance changed my fucking life!
When I went to one of his concerts he was playing and he threw one of his drumsticks off the ground and bounced to a fan he was still playing with one drumstick in the fan through it back to him
His joints have to ache after all these years of bashing !!!!!
One of the bad ass rock drummers in the world
Not a musician, but a big music fan. Love Morgan's style. Amazing and fun to watch.
I love Sevendust! They are the best band out there period. Everything they do kicks ass.
2:36-2:41 THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT🤟🤜
at 245 he twirled it to himself like that...i've seen them live 3 times, and morgan always has something new like that that blows your mind and reminds everyone how good he really is and how original his style is...he's the man
You can have all these tech playing guys! I’ll take Morgan and his power and feel any day.
i'm a drummer and as a musician but first of all as a music lover..i FUCKING LOVE to see and hear drummers like him.. having fun and still playing so tight.. \\m// ...what's that ride? by the way ...
morgan is a monster on the kit.
He really is, one of the most underrated drummers ever.
You think Morgan can't play - go grab your sticks and get on your kit and warm up with this: ruclips.net/video/8oa5mXYDowE/видео.html
Then come back and rewrite your comment.
I adore to watch this guy on drums - so much passion with this, what he is doing - greeting from Poland
Wow that crowd had no life into them. Sad!!
Helicopter
Stick twirl towards the camera
He drums with the precision of a robot programmed at M.I.T. freakin unreal!
Don't crucify me for this one but. Why is he playing weird at parts, and is he disposing of the sticks to give to people at the concert?
LOVE That improvised fill at 3:31 YES!!! ❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sevendust has been one of my favorite bands since day one. Morgan is having a BLAST and it shows.
love him the best drummer ever
Morgan Rose is THE MAN. He has mad skills! Tthe best part is watching him play during his concerts. He has a blast up there performing for his fans. Morgan Rose I give you a 10. I've been a huge Sevendust fan and I love listening to you play bro. Keep it up brotha!

Those one note pauses around the neck and the stick launching is insane 🔥🤘
morgans type of playing reminds me of shannon larkin of godsmack. They´re doing similar tricks ;)
and they´re both great drummers of course^^
Tell me you’re having the time of your life without telling me you’re having the time of your life 😂🙌🏾
Look at Morgan Rose just having fun, isn't that what it's all about?! What would bands be without people like him and Sevendust :)
He wrote that song because of dezz look at him he looked at the camera hahaha sorry for my English 😂🤘
Long live king morgan the anxious. btw enemy is one of my fave 7d songs to play
Unforgiven 2003

Why there's no such moment in studio record (3:32-3:35) :(
Sergey Shkap was about to say the same thing
I fucking love that energy, shits absolutely insane!!!!
The man at his playground...once again :)
He does all that just becuase he knows the camera is filming, too much pose dude, really WAY too much
Enter the MORGAN
he’s living his best life 😂🔥
Dudes fucking bad ass! Coolest rock star I know!!
Not the most technically skilled? Wow, I'd hate to see what you consider "technical."
Sevendust's monthly expenditures consist mostly of Morgan's drumsticks which he keeps tossing around everywhere and his cymbals which probably break after just a couple of gigs.
This songs cool but they play the chorus waaaay to much it’s like 90 % of the song
I’ve always said the same thing it’s waaaaay to much chorus
When I go to concerts I have so much fun watching the drummer. I hardly ever watch the front man. Hence why Tool is one of my favorite bands. Maynard knows his drummer is the best in the world. Ok Morgan is amazing, but nobody gonna talk about Lajon speech at the beginning?
Just…. beyond heavy and precise
beat it harder morgan. HELL FUCKIN YA! THIS GUY IS THE SHIT!
This is the Twins from the Matrix on the kit, clearly before their dreads reached full length for the Matrix 2.
An incredible performer who wrote drum parts that were built for live performances. This man knew from the beginning that he wasn't making "studio band" music and designed parts that were intended to be performed every day for months at a time. That's not "easy"; that's brilliant.

Triple h vs goldberg unforgiven
Seen you guys many times. You are always off the hook live. God bless you all and thank you for all of the incredible music. Rock on.
I didn't know singer is so basic...sad
criminally underrated
Morgan Rose is an amazing drummer...
But his screams are ICONIC!
One of the best videos online

Great drummer heavy shit
So killer. Thank you
Bad as fuck this guy is slammin
Beast! Watching Morgan play always makes me wana grab some sticks and chop to haha.
2:02 did he throw his stick on purpose or on accident? 😅😂
From his facial expression, he seemed to have dropped his stick, but being Morgen, he could’ve done it on purpose to lmao.
Thank u seven dust for supporting our troops. Killin it the dust hell yeah!
@lolazo806 man i dont think you know what you are talking about...to play what he plays as accurate and agressive as he does is not easy at all...not to mention all the TECHNICAL fills and transitions he adds in to his showmanship....Morgan Rose is a BEAST

love this drummer ..
he loves the whole fkn art of music and drumming...like me..passion is a sweet thing
Baka MORGAN ROSE yan! 🤘
triple h vs goldberg
what is the chances of getting a gear video. would be great to see what you use live...including mics and all...
Not true at all. When I saw them live he plays like this on every single song. He loves what he does and he shows it when he plays.
HOLY FUCK!
Y ES QUE HAY--....
I’ve been to one of there shows and was lucky enough to catch one of his sticks he sent in the crowd
Man this is hilarious, He has too much fun with the improvisation. Such a good time watching this.
