⁴ᴷ R143s Brake Testing on the Culver Middle Track

Every year, brake testing is carried out on each car type in the NYC Subway fleet. This year, a consist of R143s underwent brake testing on the middle track of the Culver Line. It is exceptionally rare to see R143s on the Culver line during the daytime. Enjoy!

I feel like the L train actually has its signature train. I mean most of the times the R143 is on the L and I know that it sometimes moves to the M and J but that’s more likely to be R160.

The (G) uses the Culver Line as a way to access the Coney Island Yard.

Actually the Culver Shuttle did use Lo-V cars in the late 1950s due to a shortage of cars on the BMT. They were modified with extension plates at the door sills to make up the difference in car widths (IRT cars are narrower than BMT/IND cars although the track gauge is the same). When new R27/30 cars arrived in 1960 the cars were sent back to the IRT to run out their last miles.
