One of MTA’s employees was telling me that this was ending soon. Also don’t know if this is 100 percent true or not he also told me that once Pitking gets enough R211s to retire the R46s the R179s that run on the A currently may be moving to Comcourse Yard for B&D service.
R179 5 car unit will be heading to 207 street yard to the C line. So 207 street yard can handle 10 car set of 5 car unit. So 207 street yard can displace #3146 - #3237 back to East New York Yard or to the G line. to run as 480' footers . as 8 car unit
I do know that the R,68/As will remain on the B D N W Q lines until the R268/As gets here to replace all the R68S R68AS on the B D N W Q lines. The G F is getting CBTCS including the A C lines is definitely getting CBTCS. The B D N W Q lines is not getting CBTCS for a good while.
@@leecornwell5632the R179s DO NOT use 10 cars sets for those lines cuz they’ve never even been on those lines the (B) and (D) Lines use R68/As and the (N) (Q) and (W) use R46, R68s however every morning, one Single R160 makes it way down the (Q) Line from 96 street/2nd Avenue to Coney Island, So if your outside on the (Q) at like 7 or 8 AM, you might catch an R160 on the (Q) also the R179s are on the (A) (C) (J) and (Z) lines and the R211As most certainly aren’t on the (B) (D) (N) (Q) and (W), They are on the (A) and (C).

@@josephortiz1990 The R262's will arrive to the system after the R211s are completed and that is probably in 2025-2030. The R268's will arrive after the R262s. This is super rare! I have never seen a 68 at Pitkin yard! Like never! I wonder what this was about?
What is the difference between the R68 and the R46 Subway Trains? They look almost the same
The 68s were built in the mid 80s but really not a huge difference both are 75ft cars
Wow thats crazy it’s so easy to tell
You may still see it on the C line
Wait so the R68A are no more for the A in rush hour as of June 2024.
Yes that is correct
So will any R68/A run on the A line anymore?

Yes, R68 and R68A's will be going to the N/W and Q once the R46 are all retired and since Broadway will have a stock with SMEES until they get R268s.
