Ahhhh 100-104... We tested these extensively in the Rockaways last year. We put these cars through the paces in Subways, hopefully they will serve SIR well. Glad they finally fixed car 103. A lil electrical issue when we were testing it out here lol
Funny thing is, I work installing those systems, but that's basically bird sounds coming out of speakers to keep pigeons away from stations. Some systems even have laser beams that aim to disorient those birds as well.
I just hope they reconfigure the seating to mimic the current SI trains. It'll suck if it's the typical subway seating. It's always nice to look out the window while riding the train on SI.
R211A is the older brother. R211 T is the older sister. R211S is the youngest sister. R68A is the father R160B is the mother!!! R42 is the grandmother R32 and R44 are the grandfathers.
0:27 Even though the R211’s cars are 15ft shorter, the gap still looks wide. Let’s hope it won’t be too wide. If it is, then the northbound platform needs to be extended slightly north to eliminate the dangerous gap. Also, Richmond Valley needs both platforms extended to accommodate the full length of all trains.
@@edwardp3502 I remember you, you sure have great knowledge about the SIR. Again, in my opinion, Richmond Valley is the one and only station with shorter platforms so it does sound tempting to lengthen them once and for all just so that no SDO is required. But of course, we have to wait and see what the MTA will do.
@@anonymous3738 You know the MTA. They won’t spend a dime unless they really, really, really HAVE to. The Chambers Street BMT station has been rotting away for 40 years and they barely put a new tile in every five years. Richmond Valley is dead last on their list of things to fix.
@@edwardp3502 I think you’re actually right. The MTA needs to prioritize fixing restrictions such installing elevators and ramps in non-accessible stations! As for fixing inconvenience, such as lengthening short platforms at Richmond Valley or 145th St, de-interlining by modifying track layouts such as the ones at Franklin Ave or DeKalb Ave and adding new lines such as Queenslink or anything else can wait. I can’t believe my mind focuses on solving restrictions and not inconvenience. I’ve always been longing to see more stations accessible once and for all and here is my reminder. Also, the MTA should make renovated stations accessible such as some on the Flushing Line. They should save the money for allowing wheelchair users to use the system because it’s not their fault they can’t walk. Even Chambers St which you mentioned got elevators before getting a facelift. I actually agree with that because then the MTA can take their time to make the station look new again now that wheelchairs can access the station once and for all. Looking forward to seeing what improvements will be made for years to come!
Yep! The Staten Island Railway is not connected to the NYC Subway system, but the SIRR cars are sometimes seen on the subway system heading to/from Coney Island Yard for heavy maintenance. The R211Ss also did initial testing on the subway system before being sent to Staten Island: ruclips.net/video/ZRQ7T_4YZ9Y/видео.html
Coming soon, the R211’s will be on the B, D, F, G J, L, M, N, Q, R, V, W and Z lines along with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 lines and the Shuttle for both Grand Central and Franklin Ave. will all be getting R211’s which is going to be in the next few years.
Your information is incorrect. The R211s are B-division cars, so they cannot operate or run on any A-division line. The numbered lines are planned to receive R262s as long as there is funding for them.
Too bad the PA/IC in these cars is worse than the R44. Don't know why transit went backwards on that when you consider for some time NYC trains aren't known for clear PAs
So This Means That The R211S Subway Cars On The Staten Island Railway Anyways Will Be Going Out For Regular Revenue Passenger Service Anyways Already After All Whatsoever Period Right?! HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaLOL!:-)
Finally seeing the r211S testing those trains look amazing

When will it go into service
@@TheDopamine998 its unknown, once the R211S completed the testing phase, then will start revenue service.
All that’s left is for this train to head to Verrazano Bridge Station, from there head to Bay Ridge to meet the R train and head through Brooklyn.
Can’t wait for the Staten Island Railway getting automated announcements for the first time in its existence

@@WildWildWeaselOh wow, really? That's rather interesting! Learned something new!
FINALLY!!! To say the current trains are old would be a gross understatement!
I rode them in the late 50s and early 60s The conductor went thru the train at/near end flipping seats to face the other way
The new R211 trains are beautiful. I can't wait for the new R262 trains.
I don’t care about the so-called R262s all I want is the R211s!!!!!
No matter what because the R211As R211ts its gonna be adleast three or five more years to deffinley be 100 percent complete.
The powder blue 🔵 reminds me of the 8 Thrid Ave Elevated line and the T JFK rolling signs
Woah! That's incredible. I can't wait to ride them once I visit my family member.

They're not gonna spend millions of dollars to reconfigure. What you see is what you get.

Interesting to see how tall those BL20G’s at 3:52 are compared to the R32 and R211S.
Yeah for a modeler like me, It’s a great perspective. Those are full sized engines which cannot run the subway system but can run the Amtrak part.
Thank You!
Hopefully the R211S don’t take as long like the R211A did over a year ago.

Platform lengths are just fine to handle these cars. And like six people a day use Richmond Valley so those platforms are staying as is.
