- The Kawasaki R211S pilot set (100-104) was found doing some burn-in testing on a particular Saturday on the MTA Staten Island Railway. I was caught off guard when I realized that the doors of the last car were opening to the platform side, which usually does not happen during burn-in testing. The R211S will define the future of the SIR's fleet and will become the very first NTT (New Technology Train) to enter service on the SIR soon. Enjoy the new announcements!

I've only ever grown up ridden NYC subway underground. So it's interesting seeing them outside. Reminds me of the LIRR trains now, especially the newer R211s and M9s.

The R211 newest trains it's serene and explored I didn't have any clue Staten Island had a metro, viewing from Seoul, South Korea at this time.

They work, now put it in service!

I'm not a big fan of Velina's announcements. I don't mind "the next stop is" from Kathleen, but Sewell's station name announcements are actually kinda cute. 7.5/10 announcements imo. 👏
I don't know a single person that likes Velina's station announcements. Her PSA announcements are fine though.

Before they put them in revenue service fix that flat on car 100 😂. Other than that go to go. A friend of mine of over 35 years been living in Staten Island for 25 years and his teenage son who love trains I know can’t wait to board a R211 in the Staten Island Railway.

So the R211S will be using 5 cars instead of the R44s having 4 cars
Yes because the R211 cars are 60 ft and the R44 was 75 so the 5 cars of the 211 equal out to abt the same amount as 4 cars of the 44

When it’s going to start to ride a R211 train to Staten Island
It's time for new trains but these are pretty boring. It's another R143 type of train, just modified. The R44 was such a big surprise and so "deluxe" and different when it came out around 1972. Don't know when the MTA will break the mold with a new design. Not any time soon it seems.
This design looks more like a mixture of the R44 or R46 will R160.
