- The nintendo 64 version of goldeneye 007 is coming to xbox in 2022. This leaked news shows the games achievements list and confirms that visually its not the leaked Xbox Live Arcade version which happened last year. The guy who unlocked the Achievements is a Rare developer + he unlocked the first couple of achievements in October from what I've seen, so it seems like work on this version started as soon as GE was unbanned in Germany

As a Bond fan, the timing for this is perfect. Pierce Brosnan's Bond is in much need of a reappraisal and a re-release of this will kick start that.
Also, now that Craig has left the role, EON will be more open to celebrating the previous incarnations of Bond. Goldeneye is a major contrast to the Bond universe depicted in the recent Craig movies. Brosnan's action packed films lent themselves really well to video games, I think that's another reason why the Craig games flopped.

There's already a 360 remaster, all it would need is a spit polish and some emulation.
Given that the N64 version will be emulated too...
The 2010 version of Goldeneye was pretty good.
And it's not Craig, but Everything or Nothing was damn good and one of the first games to have accurate renditions of actors' faces (Brosnan, Dench, Cleese and Dafoe's characters actually looked like them, and this was long before the days of motion capture and facial scans that are so common today).

I really hope this happens. Goldeneye is such an important game, it really deserves a proper rerelease.
A proper release on the Switch should be more like it since it originally released on a Nintendo system

it is just going to be a generic shooter,.. meh.. i played it last week with Dual n64 controllers on my N64 with a legit GoldenEye Cart with my son :D

Goldeneye was released 25 years ago this year! It feels right that it’s making a comeback a quarter of a century later. Very exciting stuff!

I do hope the remaster gets an official release. It really helped give Perfect Dark, a new lease of life, improving the game with sharper graphics and better frame rate. I hope they do the same with Goldeneye

Inside, I'm beyond excited for this news but outside I'm quietly reserved. Having purchased Turok 1 and 2 remasters for the Xbox One, I was sorely disappointed that rumble was missing from both ports. Hopefully GoldenEye keeps the rumble option intact if it truly is a direct port of the N64 version.

It's about time. I was thinking about this recently. Needs to happen.
I wonder how they made this happen, they'd have to get the rights for not only the film but the rights from rare and Nintendo as well as soundtrack licensing and royalties for the likenesses to the actors. Either way I'm happy.

its hard for me to be excited for this since i have a working crt and the game nearby the N64
I really wish i could get a game similar to the perfect dark/ timesplitters / goldeneye experiance of a game with a storymode alot of unlockables in a challenge mode and a good ol multiplayer with your friends that you can be silly characters
If it doesn't force only modern controls then it could be great. I personally loved the default controls to GoldenEye and it's part of what makes it fun to go back and play today. It's different from modern games which makes it feel fresh. It's why I like to go back and play games that don't have auto regenerating health.
Goldeneye always had a dual analogue option.

Oh man, I can’t stand how so many FPS games force modern controls. I’m so glad Halo lets you use the legacy (aka Goldeneye) layout to this day as an option.
@@n64glennplant Yeah i know. It had the famouse 2 controller single player mode.
I forgot to add I have Perfect Dark HD on Xbox One X and it controls brilliantly in dual analogue and it looks superb in 4K60 even with all the Original animations - a testament to the original team. Of course the enhanced character models and textures are also tastefully done, much like the leaked GoldenEye remaster.

So happy about this. I think it would be the same concept as quake with 60 fps but staying to core original game play. can't wait because i having been playing it on PC and N64 for years. Thank u Nintendo Xbox and Rare for finally making this happen. My childhood dreams coming true.
I think the leak earlier in the year put things back into focus for whoever makes decisions on these things.

I just hope it'll allow you to switch the graphics on the fly back to the original N64 version like the leaked XBLA one, played that all the way through on my JTAG 360 and ran perfectly! Was awesome seeing the improvements in real-time.

Very exciting. Really nice start for 2022. I hope the game runs at a solid 60 fps. That would blow the N64 original right out of the water. Hopefully we'll see a PC release as well for the online multiplayer.
Perfect Dark runs at 4K 60 on my Xbox One X. Goldeneye won't have a problem. Unless you're talking about Switch, in which case.. good luck :P

If they allow NUMERICAL SENSITIVITY adjustment it can work. I got mupen64fz to work with a custom remap and turned it down to 90%

It is always wild to hear what gets banned in Germany and what does not. But in the end I guess it's true for all places, just a lesser extent haha. Great to hear this news! I wonder if it will be the remastered version or if it will be the original N64 version? I could see Nintendo getting the original N64 version while Xbox gets the remastered version.

fun fact: when die another day was finished, they didn't release another bond film in 6 years, so to fill up that void they made a lot of 007 games that had pierce in it, and the last game from the EA days was from Russia with love where sean Conery came to voice his role as bond. I think there re-releasing goldeneye to fill the void since daniel Craig isn't bond anymore and the next film might take a while, that's my theory at least.
Yeah it’ll be interesting to see who’s next but we know there’s a new bond game on the way anyway which is more spy focussed
I'd only be down for purchasing the remastered/unreleased XBLA version - that looks amazing, just like Perfect Dark did. No reason why this shouldn't or couldn't be released on Xbox/Switch if they can get the old licensing stuff sorted. If not, then I guess I'll have to figure out a way of modding my old 360....

I have this on 360,remaster/remake. Is this going be same one
If the rumors are true then as a goldeneye fan this makes me very happy. Although I think it would have been better if instead of being a NSO and or XBLA exclusive it was just a standard physical release. But I would include additional content like that unreleased Goldeneye remaster for the XBLA that was rumored in the mid 2010, scanned manuals/box art-illustration, behind the scenes and maybe include that James Bond 007 gameboy game as an extra. I heard/read that that remaster was more akin to Halo CE Anniversary in that you could toggle the N64 visuals with the Remasterd visuals.
If this sells well it might open the doors for more James Bond remasters/re-releases like a collection of both Agent under fire/Nightfire with online and the GBA port included, a compilation of Everything or nothing + From Russia with Love or a remaster of the N64 version of World's not enough.
I still have it on N64, but playing with better controls will be pretty cool.

Not just better controls... a cleaner look, and hopefully a decent, steady frame rate now - it tanks badly on the N64 whenever anything 'big' happens! Still a 25 year favourite of mine though; awesome back then, and hopefully even more awesome sometime very soon!! 😃
I still have my cartridge but I think the contacts are worn down. I can only get it to boot like 1% of the time.
a remastered version of the facility map ( the one where you start in a vent in a bathroom ) was already released as a Workshop mod for insurgency 1 ,it is stunning and worth giving a look on steam , its called facility , can be played on insurgency 1 "35 Angry bots server # 3 EU " give it a look if your a fan

It won't release on XB unless it's on Switch and vice versa. Curious to see will the Nintendo logo be stripped from the title sequence on XB as well. The Nintendo dev department "Super Mario Club" worked heavily on the testing of the game and quality control, hence one of the sticking points for a re release in the past.

@@n64glennplant the remaster still relies on the very details Nintendo themselves playtested and perhaps changed in the original, let alone the original game itself being financed by them. Hence I suppose the XBLA version not seeing the light of day. Who knows, as part of the deal we will hopefully see both versions on both platforms. I'm still annoyed they haven't gotten a graphical filter up yet on the Switch expansion pass, OoT is a hard one to get through as it stands, Goldeneye would be the same I'd assume. I'm a wee bit over protective with the N64 and it's legacy and only want the best way to play, the current graphic status quo attitude on the ExPass is unacceptable, Goldeneye and OoT deserve better, everything else including the wireless N64 controller is beyond nostalgic and wonderful.
Now all we need is a Diddy Kong Racing remaster!

Any time EON Productions are done with a Bond actor, they're much more comfortable with allowing games/marketing with "other Bonds." We got this in 2005 with From Russia With Love, starring Sean Connery. The last revival attempt was during the Craig Era, so this all lines up. MSFT and Nintendo wanna make money, EON wants consistent Bond marketing.

This is absolutely amazing news that I’m absolute buzzing about, but surely when they have a quality remaster available designed to play on modern consoles, why would they just release the old version complete with the downfalls of the old tech? The remaster must be a given surely?

Kinda disappointed that it's just a straight port of the original and not a finished official release of the cancelled XBLA remake/remaster that got leaked months ago.
