Joker wasnt evil at the begining whats rob talking about. Joker had a pregnent wife and no money so he became the red hood then the joker afterwards in the comics. He went insane. He wasnt insane to begin with. Also in the comics he did standup for a job jus like we are seeing in the trailer.
That was a stand-alone comic, its not canonical in the canon he has no origin, he has no name, he comes from nowhere, and he has no motive, no one knows why he does what he does... he just does...

JoeDurtay If you a comic fan, you know these vulnerable and sane parts spill in genuinely. Though, they never last long. Rob already had a set vision and surface level perspective to begin with. Doesn’t understand the entirety of the Joker character. The art of insanity and madness The Joker manifests. The story is simply the lead to insanity. Joker is like a manifestation of the bitterness, insanity and madness of society. This tells a story of how it comes about.

now i googled it and nowhere does it say it's rated r or hard r but it might get an r rating due to nudity (probably because of joker's mother) not because of anything else but we'll see. let's just hope the movie comes out right.

Joaquin Phoenix is an amazing actor. I’m prepared to be awed by his performance as the Joker. He goes deep with his method acting. I think the trailer is intentionally subtle on purpose, and have a feeling the movie will be a slow build up with creepy hints where they will be a Shocker WTF!!! moment at the end having the audience asking questions, leading to a sequel. I’m almost certain....

No sequel. Phoenix only agreed to the film on terms that it was a 1 film deal. He doesn't want to be apart of sequels or the universes.

Phoenix might not return, but since this film is an origin story it’s only the beginning glimpse of the Joker descending into madness.
The thing is,Rob,Joker isn't just one crazy mad guy that kills people around for fun.Joker has a big character.His origin leads him being the reflection of the society.To me,the society is the true villain and joker is joker.He has high intelligence and he sure isn't like the rich mafia (pretty clichè)'joker' in suicide squad.Even in gotham,joker is a legacy not just a killing machine.He's a symbol of a dark,twisted,troubled mind which not many understand that.Just for you to know,joker isn't just a sadist but a symbol with big meanings in this true evil society.

I think I see it now. Correct me if I'm wrong Rob, but you don't believe people or characters really change that much. It started with Jaime, then it came forth with Zuko, both of whom had some amazing redemptive arcs. The same with this version of the Joker. You want to see the darker/crazier version of the Joker because that is the one you are familiar with. I am completely fine with it, everyone has a right to their opinions and your different way of thinking adds a contrary dimension to the discussion, sometimes in a somewhat frustrating manner.
That said, here's the problem with applying that to the Joker. The premise of the movie is taken from the Joker's belief that all it takes is one bad day to turn you insane. Most recently used in the injustice story where he turned Superman into a dictator essentially. The prerequisite for this, however, is that for this story to work you need to believe in drastic character changes.
Secondly, I doubt there will be any major villain or hero from the comics in this movie. Life itself will be the big bad pushing the clown into becoming the Joker. A very tragic artsy sorta film. So, I'd advise you to keep that in mind and manage your expectations, alter your perception based on what the film wants to be instead of what you want from the film.
that is not the premise of the movie, i wish people would stop trying to make it some sort of dark knight homage.. just because that was the first gritty joker we had doesnt mean this is on its dick... this is simply a short one off joker story that has potential as a psychological thriller and a simple story of a man losing it all

So basically what I think they did with this teaser is show us not the typical violent joker we see, it shows the moments before the break point, what bad day he just snap and never be the same, it’s more deep into his story and I can’t wait for how it will turn out and connect with everything
Somethings you guys gotta remember is that this isnt connected to any of the other DC movies. The Jared Leto Joker is still gonna be in movies. This is supposed to be a one off, low budget, "character piece" about the Joker. It's not supposed to be like the "Official Origin Story" or nothing like that. It's like a "what if..." kinda movie. And it looks really good.

This is an origins story so we're going to see what pushed the greatest maniac of all time over the edge. Also, did you guys notice that the kid behind the gates was Bruce Wayne?

The movie has already been establish as R-rated, but it's probably going to more of psychological thriller than a horror/comic book action movie.

If you ever read or watched Batman: The Killing Joke remember the line "If I have to have a past, then I prefer it to be multiple choice!" This could be one interpretation of his origin, but in the end it is a fakeout to hide who he really is. Other than he had a horrible period in life that drove him crazy.

Like in the dark knight every time he tells the story about his scars its different, i hope his “origin” is just something that he fabricated and maybe that poor old woman he was giving a bath too is actually a mental patient that he just fools into thinking shes his mom... that would be dark as shit.
I think the fact that he doesn't look that evil makes the character that much scarier because this is just a regular guy that has lost it and that is something that can happen in real life.
I already knew the majority of the RT TV guys weren't going to like this and that is because it's everything that they described. It's not a comic movie, it's not a horror flick, it's a character study so there's going to be a lot more depth that they'll probably find boring, but I find extremely fascinating. I'm excited for it. I'm actually hoping that there are no major action set pieces at all.

Come on, there is literally a bunch of people in clown mask helping him and like he shows up on the talk show that called him a coward, probably gonna kill that dude on live tv just to put that fear in the city heart while also getting more psychopaths in clown mask behind him and the ending may either gave Batman or tease his existence and how the joker became obsessed with tormenting the caped crusader.
Interesting take in the Jared Leto, SS Joker being a rock star. I didn’t like that version, but that definition makes so much sense now.

Like the dude says, they aren't going to show the Joker do anything horrific in a teaser trailer, and in fact it actually teases that he has done something terrible a couple of times. The part that gets me hyped is him being introduced on the tv show, because that may very well be a reference to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, which if it is, everyone in that studio is about to have a VERY bad time.

People speculate that, the kid in the trailer is Bruce and that this old Joker is the inspiration for the future Joker that fights against Batman. But these are just theories :))

I've been watching your content for 2 years now and I've noticed this about Rob for the longest time and haven't brought this up cuz it's kinda mean but I have to be honest now for him to be a wee bit aware.. Rob is really slow when it comes to anything with even just a subtlety of inticricy.
An individual who has done everything he can to stay on the right path, even if his whole existence has been a sh!thole of an experience, all of a sudden loses the few precious parts of his miserable life that has kept him sane for the longest time, finally causing him to snap and succumb to madness is a lot more horrifying as a character, than someone who's been predictably crazy their entire life. This is how I feel about JP's Joker vs Gotham's(tv) who isn't even really the Joker
I get some American psycho, taxi driver, clockwork orange and dark knight vibes with the tone from watching the trailer. It's a Psychological thriller type of film. Witch we dont get much of nowadays. I love the 80s setting. I really like the presentation of the trailer being dark, gritty, grounded and not giving to much away. I know Todd Phillips is directing it but I feel like its a martin scorsese type of film for some reason. plus that laugh tho!

In the killing joke comic he was just a regular comedian. He wasn’t evil at all and then he became he joker and the rest is history, so you can’t judge this because he doesn’t seem evil enough

btw this is an alternate universe Joker, this isn't how Joker became the Joker, it's a story of it's own
It appears to be an origin in the style of Batman Begins. Bruce Wayne transformed due to the death of his parents and the creeping criminality of the city his parents had invested in, plus it took a long time of him travelling, feeling lost to discover himself. This film will need a similar catalyst to force the guy to change and make it feel natural. I imagine any crazy scenes will be minimal and appear in the 3rd act as his transformation to the Joker finally begins.
I think one of the things about the Joker too, and I might be wrong, is that no one really knows the truth of his history. The Dark Knight is one example Joker tells several versions of how he got his scars, though the scars obviously aren't a thing in all Joker versions, it is pretty murky on like his actual origin, and while that may be just something because of the various adaptations, I think it's partly intentional, as an effect of his insanity, that you're never sure what the truth is, or what could be another delusion.
This incarnation is Jack Napier joker. This type of joker wasn't a 'canon' incarnation (chemical vat Joker) but he sure as hell is now.😂

It is an origin story and more of a character study movie.They want to show us how someone mentally ill descends into madness. The best villians are just normal or good people turn evil.Anakin turned Vader, must origing stories for Joker tells him as a normal Joe down on his luck,Hannibal Lecter was just a psychaitrists first then villian,Voldermont was just a very talented wizard turned evil,Magneto was a holocaust survivor turned mutant freedom fighter/terrorist,Sauron was almost like an angel in the LOTR lore turned evil,Lucifer was an angel turned evil. I mean you can have evil from the start too but its interesting to see normal or good people fall from grace and turn evil you kinda connect with them because you can relate.Batman could had easily went the other way just like Joker but he had Alfred and other people to help him and he turned good but Joker ( this version kinda like the Killing Joke version) seems to have bad luck after bad luck and we all been there at some point where you just want to say Fuck it! and do whatever the hell you need to do but you dont because something pulls you back from the abyss.
