Joaquin nailed the fuck out of the joker laugh. That was something I was unsure of especially at first, because when I think of Joker's true laugh, I immediately think of Mark Hammil's voice acting; however Joaquin has reallly captured the essence of joker perfectly! Super hyped for this movie

I hear people compare Phoenix to Ledger, but I think that's apples and oranges.
Ledger's Joker was based on the premise of holding you at arms length and never letting you in. He always lied and he used that to shock you with misdirection.
Phoenix's Joker is going to drag you down a flight of stairs into madness. He's going to scare you by making you sympathize with a maniac until you are frightened of yourself.
People are always gonna compare every new Joker with heath even tho they're all different

@Lobo Aquaman was awesome (imo), but the writing needed work I agree. Still, between WW, Shazam, and now Joker, it seems DC has done serious course correcting.

@Lobo I dont think so but I agree his portrayal isnt perfect or for everyone. I love Aquaman less for the writing or story and more for the incredible lore and world building they achieved with Atlantis. Also, Black Manta may be one of the most comic accurate designs for a villain I've ever seen. Its campy fun imo, just as an Aquaman movie should be. And furthermore, I think that 3rd act is one of the top 3rd acts of any superhero movie ever. I got LotR, superhero movie, and Star Wars vibes from that entire section of the movie.

His relationship with his mom reminds me of my relationship with my mother as i took care of her in her declining years up to her death. I'm guessing his mom dies. She was probably his last tether to the man that society says he should be. I am completely looking forward to this movie. It really does only take one bad day....

I do genuinely like the idea of watching the Joker go from a normal dude to a guy that snaps, that's really interesting. This might not suck!
I pray it doesn't;Batman is my favorite DC comics hero,and every good hero deserves an equally bad villain,a dark and twisted reflection of that hero. Joker is definitely the yin to Bats' yang,as different as night and day;I'd hate to see them drop the ball on this one.

So now everyone is into the dark DC tone but so many have been complaining for years that DC is too dark and should be more like Marvel....smh. Dark is what makes DC unique. That’s their signature look. And I love it
No, everyone is in on the characters that were originally dark and gritty, not the ones that were not and were made dark anyway.
That's why people love this and Shazam, not to mention Aquaman and Wonder woman and that's why not many liked BvS and Justice league (the later which forced comedy into characters that aren't comedic, like Batman)
A dark tone doesn’t work with specific characters. Superman is not a dark character. He a symbol of hope. Zach Snyder really fucked up.
Ishaan Chand just cuz Superman is a symbol of hope doesn’t mean he is light hearted. He’s a very intense and complex character. So a dark tone I feel goes well with Superman, even Wonder Woman tbh. I agree a movie like Shazam doesn’t need to be too dark and intense. But I guess I’m just not into Marvel goofy movies sorry 😬

You guys mentioned Dark Knight and what I loved about those movies was Warner Bros/DC not sticking their nose in it too much, trying to force shit into their greater planned universe, it was Christopher Nolan making the movies he wanted to make. Also, I wouldn't have disliked Leto's Joker so much if they didn't hype it for a year only to have him in the movie for 5 minutes.

And, here is what happened when Arthur Fleck reached his breaking point when all he ever wanted to do was live a happy life while bringing laughter to the outside world.

Guys, just so you know this movie is not canon when it comes to the other DC movies like The Dark Knight or even Suicide Squad. This version of The Joker is separate and looks at yet another new backstory to the character

According to IMDb, the boy the joker is forcing to smile is Bruce Wayne and the man in the tv interview is Thomas Wayne. And this movie is not in the regular DCEU universe, this is a separate universe with only the same characters.✌🏻💙💙💙

I hope they have a universe on one side where you have Aquaman, WW, Shazam, and so forth. On the other side they create independent movies like these that do not rely upon the universe. My issue with marvel is the universe has got so expansive that it is hard to care anymore for an Antman movie.
