Tim burton: ace chemicals creates Joker. Todd Phillips: society creates joker.
I believe in the comics, he either falls or jumps into a vat of chemicals, changing him physically. Tim was staying true to the original content. Even in the Killing joke a "chemical bath" is still used.
@@majorzero8343 I actually like that it makes for a more grounded movie and it could be a deep dive in the jokers psyche and I am all for it.
Chemicals affecting your face to make it look perfectly like a clown is unrealistic anyway

@@kaiohhai8812 you are right, but comic book origins are for the most part unrealistic which extends to the characters themselves as well.
This looks so incredibly well shot, and I believe they picked right with Joaquin Phoenix

They definitely made an effort to make the city look more Gothan-esque than the Dark Knight Trilogy.

How could u have zero interest with Phoenix in it? Soon as I heard that I was on board. He rarely picks shitty films and either way he's such a good actor.
Because I felt there was ZERO need for a Joker origin story. I felt the character was better for not telling us how he came to be. Also I assumed it was going to be the standard awful DC tripe.

But after this trailer? I need to see it. Finally DC decided to be different than Marvel, and finally decided to not race with Marvel for the biggest cinematic universe.
I love Marvel because of the comedy, the colorful worlds and fantastic battles. But I love the dark world of DC, the mature story. The unforgivable, cruel and mature lore.
Finally DC is being DC and not a Marvel copycat. Now Marvel and DC can coexist! And this is awesome!

Chills were definitely present. Such a beautifully crafted trailer.
*This* is exactly what I've been wanting a lot more of when it comes to comics based movies for a long time. Standalone films, not part of an interconnected universe or larger franchise, which are just their own, unique take on a character. Not meant to be definitive, just its own thing.
Each of the live action Jokers has embodied one aspect of the character from the comics. Nicholson was the Comedian, Ledger was the Psychopath, Leto is the Gangster, and now...
Phoenix is the Broken Man.

At the time when this was revealed. Didn't have any interest but after giving it a chance w/ finally watching. Movie was beyond amazing. 🎸⚡⚡⚡
Reminded me of the reaction to the first Logan trailer. A breath of fresh air, take risks, explore the character to it's core.
Somewhere between due date and this Todd Phillips has turned into Orson Wells, this could be the citizen kane of comic book character movies

I don’t think Joaquin would even do another Joker movie. Not sure he’s interested, I’ve heard in interviews he likes the freedom and not being tied into things like this. In my mind we will just see him as the joker this one and only time.

The amount of acclaim this teaser trailer alone has gotten is just so reinvigorating and satisfactory. If this movie turns out as good as it looks I'd be so happy. Please DC, we need this.
Intrigued by thomas wayne saying the "man who hides behind a mask" and then the lil boy being young bruce wayne. Just got chills with his smirks to the laugh. Excited for this movie! Happy DC is finally maybe getting it right!

BATMAN The Animated Series is my favorite of toons cause is dark and i was in elementary coming back from school around sunset it matched perfect timing. The music of the intro theme is so gotham.

I think he lost all that weight so his face would be more slim and give him a more defined jaw, which the Joker is known for
it was due to the fact his medication would cause weight loss
Being free of the DCEU and Phoenix's unwillingness to do sequels this seems to be less of a traditional Hero vs Villain and more of a standalone look into one man's fall into madness very much like Taxi Driver or Falling Down just this man becomes Joker.

“Heart of Ice” has more soul than the ENTIRE modern DCU.

It's an origin story. The director said, how do you do an origin story who doesn't really have an origin story. Thomas Wayne is the guy talking on the TV, the kid is Bruce Wayne and according to imdb, Alfred is in it also! Love ya'lls reaction!

Jay Phoenix is carrying the film obviously, but everyone already knows that he’s a fantastic, committed actor. I don’t think anyone expected Todd Philips to have a film like this in him, so that’s the surprise element

This is the most sincere trailer reaction i've seen so far... all the other reactions are like pure show XD it's funny yeah but too many screams like "WHAAAAT?"" NO WAY!! WHY??!!!" or are making motions with their body as if they are scared and shocked...
but your s was like "holy shit.. this is stunning... and amazing... can't stop watching...."kind of face.

This was meant to be an “Elseworlds” story which INFLUENCED the Joker.. ✌🏽
I heard justice league had a complete different story. Black suit superman and green lantern had scenes in the movie cut. They should of stayed with the original Snyder vision.

Well in the original cut, there was actually 2 lanterns in the movie, they have dialog too also the history lesson was much longer and bigger in scale, the invasion also hit Egypt where the wizards fought the parademons

The director is Todd Philips. Hes mostly a comedy guy

By the way one of the executive producer is bradley cooper wtf. The hangover director is about to make some serious magic with this film.
It's also being produced by Martin Scorsese who was involved with highly successful movies like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed and the upcoming mob movie The Irishman

@@weaponsofwarfare9537 from what i understand Scorsese hasnt been attached to this film for a while and everything were seeing here is Todd Phillips and Joaquins vision, tho you can definitely see his influence in every camera shot.
AMAZING reactions guys. This movie looks like a true piece of art - Like something very special. Phoenix seems like he went ALL in for this role - Definitely looking forward to it... And you nailed it man - If he nails it, then putting him in the new Batman would be one of the smartest moves the DCEU could make.
I've probably seen the trailer 30 times or so through watching it once and then a metric ton of reaction vids, before I finish the video I guarantee you'll both be floored.
It doesn't make much sense to talk about the DCEU. DCEU died with Justice League -an attempt to gain the majority acceptance of criticism, erroneous at so many levels-. Aquaman and Shazam assume they are slightly connected to something, but something that is in the past and will never come back.
The trailer is simply glorious.

I was very indifferent about this movie back when they announced it, but this trailer just launched it WAAAAY up on my hype scale. It's now my second most anticipated movie of the year, hot on the heels of Godzilla.
