Another thoughtful and intelligent review by an awesome couple. Your first trailer reaction got lots of views because your reaction was genuine. Great movie VLOG.
Zazie Beetz who played Domino in “Deadpool 2” is Harley Quinn in “Joker”??
The movie is a masterpiece. Point blank period
I see what you did there.
Boss it was beyond awesome
😂😂 I see what you did
it is so masterfully crafted
This movie made me cry, I went home and thought about the movie for hours. Such a great and different one. I'm glad Joaquin phoenix accepted this role. Personally, I don't want a whole universe surrounding this, because this feels so unique...
Zazie Beetz who played Domino in “Deadpool 2” is Harley Quinn in “Joker”??
@@MarvelBoi44 not Harley Quinn, but his " lover" yes
I just saw the movie and i'm so impressed and astonished. I want to see this movie again. Love you guys.
I needed more time to read those letters.
knock knock Oscar
@@pellowsaja1057 100% agree with you :)
Thank you :)
I'm gonna get some hate, but I think Joaquin has turned in the best Joker performance so far. It's more than just playing as the Joker, though. It goes well beyond that. That's what makes it so special. Listen, I love Heath in TDK, but this is on another level. This film is extremely well made, and has an incredible central performance. Despite my reservations with a few edits, I gotta go with Lady on this. This is damn near a perfect film. It grabbed me right from the get go. This is essentially a Hitchcockian/European psychological thriller with the DC Universe as a backdrop.
@WarlordRising anyone who gives you @hit tell them to kick rocks and F off.... anyone who gives you crap about your own personal likes is a shallow moron... An this is coming from someone who disagree's with YOUR take... but we learn thru difference and discussion not sheep like mentality.... have a good weekend Warlord.
@@michaelcoffey1991 LOL. Thanks, man. You, too.
I knew Joaquin was gonna out do heath in the role as joker. That’s my opinion but he needs that Oscar.
Agree!
That dance scene in the bathroom after he kills..its fascinating because it starts as an almost involuntary motion begining with one foot.
Then the other.
The energy, so to speak, begins to move thru his whole body culminating in that last shot of Arthur looking at himself in the mirror with extended arms in full celebration of Himself.
It was glorious
I loved it, it was a movie that had a message and a story and it delivered both extremely well. Didn't insight violence either.
*insite
Just out of the cinema in Dublin,Ireland... loved it
I remember watching your trailer reaction months or maybe even a year ago, I remember watching every and any video I could find reacting to the trailer and I found yours to be the funnest in terms of getting me even more excited than I was and wanting to see your review of this movie. Very glad you guys liked is as much as I did and happy I subscribed all those months ago
Best movie of the year! Best movie of the decade!
Joaquin Phoenix went beyond award winning. He completely made this character his own and has definitely set a bar of creative perfection.
I watched it yesterday and I completely agree with you guys! I came out of the theatre in a daze, just walking around on autopilot. I couldn't stop thinking about it and I still can't. What an amazing film. I wish I could go watch it again, and this is the first time ever I felt like that. Really recommend watching it, I was very pleasantly surprised.
10/10 is masterpieces movie and best joker for the moments
Definitly seeing this film again. Joaquin is incredible in everything he does and better get that Oscar.
Zazie Beetz who played Domino in “Deadpool 2” is Harley Quinn in “Joker”??
It's doing really solid in the box office thank God!!
"I almost forgot to punch out"
10:04 You can sympathize with someone's pain without supporting their actions. That's our relationship with the Joker. You can completely feel bad for his suffering while still completely understanding that he's gone too far in his backlash to it. You can also understand the responsibility of the people and the society who uncaringly pushed an unstable man over the edge.
Watched JOKER 3 hours ago - I agree 5/5 👍🏻 Joaquin Phoenix could shake hands with Heath Ledger - outstanding performance, unbelievable 🏆
One of the best DC production over the last decade, you don't need superheroes, special-effects/CGI-battles - Phoenix sould this character/story from the first minute to the last second - AMAZING !!
I like that the DC universe/elements (WayneFamily)are secondary in this movie. It's a fresh ORIGIN STORY. Well done WarnerBros/DC.
RATED-R FOR A REASON - but i never had the feeling there is too much violence - NO ACTION MOVIE 🤡
I watched last Friday, all the audience including me were clapping at the end of the movie, Best review by far guys, I agree with Lady Phat, we want a sequel, let's hope they'll do a sequel👍🤡
Phoenix doesn't do sequels so it will never Happen
I dont want a sequel... nothing that needs to be reenacted with this film. Better just letting it be what it is.
“A Classic”
Besides its a origin movie.. dont need to remake origin films unless the film is bad
@@chrisconnors9449 True its a CLASSIC & a MASTERPIECE, But it all depend on Joaquin Phoenix for a sequel👍
Robert Smith
They could touch on him rising to power as a crimelord. Going from looney revolutionary to crime boss.. but i still dont think it would have the same effect as the first film. Would still be good though.
I've seen it twice now and it's an absolute work of art. No other film has made my heart pound the way this one did. My appreciation for it grew after the second viewing.
I completely agree. It's even better the second time. I didn't think that was possible, but it is! I want to go see it again if I'm being honest...
What I like about the joker take is that it follows jokers motto of "it takes only one bad day to make someone insane." Furthermore, here are my thoughts on the debate on heath ledger and Joaquin Phoenix jokers.
Ledgers joker, while dark and realistic, is a more comic accurate joker, which focuses on his anarchy, manipulation, and comic source material
Phoenix joker is a more realistic and human joker. He is present as a damaged and troubled individual who has found himself cut off and distant from society. Not to mention, the iconic laugh is reinvented as a chronic disorder which hinders his life. However the biggest difference is how human his joker. By this sense I mean you can imagine a person like this existing in the real world.
Now while most people would route to see the transformation to the joker, Todd Phillips went in the direction to make the viewers route for Arthur fletch not to transform because in this version, we as the viewers are terrified of the joker.
Lastly, I can most people having an issue with the film for not showing a genius joker. Yet they forget that joker is not the riddler. To the core of the character he is a psychotic monster who wants to see society cave in on itself. That is what this joker does. It shows how truly terrifying the joker really is.
Now that I have said my piece, when I clicked on the video, you both faces of sadness and worry. That either tells me the film sucked in making you both feel uncomfortable or it failed to live up to its hype. But I do not think the film failed.
I'm glad you guys saw this film and gave us your honest thoughts on it.
Your differential view of the two Jokers is so accurate. Thank you for that because I couldn't have said it better. Both Jokers will be historic throughout time.
Angelina Mcfadden thank you very much
Very thoughtful and thorough analysis of the film!! One of the reasons I love you guys and your channel so much!! That's why you got so many views for the trailer reaction, because we know that you are two movie fans who keep it real and cut no corners and we LOVE that about you. Can't wait to see this!!
I loved this epic masterpiece!!!
I keep asking myself, who's the antagonist in this film.. Joker or society? Was the joker a hero?
This is a great film.. A GREAT film..
The message or the moral of this film was clear and understood.
But.. Will people buy the Joker mask this fall?
Arthur Fleck is a molotov cocktail that the press lit and threw into Gotham City's society
^I like that alot
I’m glad you guys also gave it a perfect score. I can’t stop thinking about it and that last half hour was so insane. I actually think I like him better than Heath and that movie.
Same!
this movie is epic and shocking in many ways very cleverly put together and the box office speaks for itself over half a billion already wooohoooo the haters going to hate great review
It was like watching taxi driver... was sooo damn happy with this masterpiece!!!!
After a third watch this movie is hands down easily one of my top 3 of all time. Wow this left such an impression.
Same. I haven't been this affected by a film in a while. I loved every single moment of it. And it gets better with every watch.
I loved every second of the film it was beautiful to look at, Phoenix looked gorgeous in all the shots. It was clear to me that this character was let down as far back as childhood - his laugh being his 1st problem everyone though he was fine etc but you wonder if he would have been ok if he didnt get mistreated or if they allowed him to continue taking his medication......was it his fault? He tried hard to keep his shit together until everyone just shat on him so he decided he would simply embrace it. He didnt have much of a choice in my opinion and that is what we need to look at. He wasn't born that way.
We saw it last night, we both thought it was absolutely fantastic!
I really really enjoy your movie reviews. Both of you keep it real. I respect your opinions.
More films will go origin, R rated and devoid of CGI because it has more impact while being way cheaper. This film has “changed everything”. Expect Freeze next.
Awesome review! My favorite video from you guys!
Wow... just WOW! This movie was just brilliant. And really heavy thematically. 10/10
As soon as I saw that first trailer, I knew this movie's gonna be something else.
I was so hoping you guys would do a review! Diving in now!!
Thank you guys. I got my tickets A week in advance but an emergency came and missed the 9:55 showing. No spoil from you guys but now I am more jazzed to see this on Sunday
“Joker” 4.8 out of 5 stars.
Classic. Top 3 of all time in my list.
It just bumped off “Goodfellas” at #3.
B.A. done everybody be putting this damn movie in their top 10😂 I have
1. Inception
2. The Fellowship Of The Ring
3. The Empire Strikes Back
Joker bumped TESB outta 3rd place
Dude, inception was trash, joker is number 1
LOVED IT!!!!! Especially the ending. DC should continue with the "Black Label " movies. Maybe give Ra's Al Gul a treatment like this
I need a Mr. Freeze movie like this one! "Think of it Batman. To never again walk on a Summer's day, with a hot wind in your face, and a warm hand to hold. Oh yes, I'd kill for that." - Mr. Freeze, B:TAS - Heart of Ice
IMO, this is the best interpretation of the Joker we’ve ever got. Not only this is a very appropriate origin story, but the fact that it explains how real mass murderers are made makes it much more worth it. Working with special needs, I can tell you I see similar situations of how these people become violent (minus the death and destruction). So to me this was a great way to get a real conversation going about stuff like this.
The trailers gave the tone of the movie without spoiling the plot. The acting was amazing. The cinematography was incredible. The directing and the soundtrack was unbelievable. I may be a bit biased as my son worked on the film, got his first film credit, and gifted us a trinket from the set.
Saw this Friday night. A masterclass performance by one of the best actors alive today. Going to see it again today just to catch anything I missed.
Amazing review as always! Cannot wait to see this film. And oh yeah, one more thing...VAN HELSING IS AMAZING! SEEN IT MANY TIMES! That score is fricking phenomenal.
i watched the movie and then came here for the movie review because i love you guys
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this movie guys! Enjoyed to watch your sincere and emotional review a lot!
Fantastic film. You both are right, it's difficult to discuss this one without going into spoilers. So I hope you do a spoiler review as well.
I absolutely loved this film! The scene at the late night show and the scene in the apartment when his co-workers come visit him was just amazing!
The big picture villain in the movie is Society - where as Joker is the tip of the iceberg opportunist that steps over the lines of morality which we can sympathize with in some degree due to Society being the catalyst. IMO
The most funny N' intelligent reactions n' critics. Love ya' guys! Your awesome!
Movies like this and Logan need to happen more often... I hope DC embraces this and let's solo stories happen, the potential is crazy... Only do a sequel when necessary.
Fantastic intelligent analysis. It's a straight up masterpiece. Subscribing!
Also, can we just forget that movie Sucide Squad ever happened? Jared Leto is a tremendous actor, but whatever he played is that movie was just obnoxious. It would be totally disrespectful for the character of Joker, and for great actors who played him (Ledger, Phoenix and Nicholson) to even call whatever Leto attempted to play "Joker".
Thank you both for your analysis! It is rather unsettling that I and the main characters share the same name.
what an amazing film this was . pure film making alot of insane things in this movie however one scene was surreal along with the music . had my heart pumping . all ill say is two icons meeting 1st . anyone who seen it will know what im talking about .
This was a great, insightful review!
Love the insight and review but Is it me or this video was like them old Kung fu flicks where the audio never syncs up to the way their lips where moving 😂
Glad you guys liked it as much as i did, and appreciate it as an artful take on the Joker, rather than just a Franchise film.
These 2 rock! Excited 4 their reactions!
You guys rock. keep truck-en. Big fan...
That moment when he stands up on the car, with that score playing, and he puts on that last smile....FUCK!!! That's the JOKER!!! I've seen it twice now, and it's even better the second time!! Trust me!! I have so many theories...
I loved when Joker made fun of the guys he killed, saying that they sang like shit.. "They couldn't carry a tune to save there lives" with a smerc on his face. Lol. THAT was a Joker one liner!! 😂
You guys are great reviewers big time
The laughs did seem schizophrenic or Tourette’s like.
Thank you for your review. OAN....I wanted to tell you guys that TMC channel is hosting a special on all of the Godzilla movies on Fridays the entire month of October.
This movie creates discussions and deep thoughts about society after we watch it. This is why ‘Joker’ is important not only to film industry but also to our current world.
Adam West Batman easter egg was awesome. Loved the movie. Now Give us Jason Momoa as Lobo under DC Black Label or DCeased or whatever.
A classy masterpiece
A. You got my Sub
B. To the Lady: I hear you about Pattinson, but he has come into his own in the indie film scene. Fingers are crossed we get something the level of Batfleck (B v S 😄)
C. The film was really good. Beautifully crafted, performed and, shot. ,
It is entertaining as it is unnerving.
Phoenix at the very least deserves an oscar nomination
I really loved this film. It was really good and enjoyed it. I plan on seeing it again and buying it on Blu Ray when it comes out. I am a little bummed out about not getting a sequel because it was so good and after it was over, I wanted more so I do disagree a little bit on not doing franchises because I would like to see this Joker meet up with Batman but at the same time, I do appreciate this for being different
It was nice to see Tomas Wayne from a different perspective!
You guys are the best bloggers
Love your review guys i want to see your Spoiler thoughts cuz yall held so many things back! Good job guys
Love y’all
Its a masterpiece. Great review. Thank you.
I hope the itch is scratched? Love you guys ❤️🙏 your buddy from Germany.
It happened to me when I watched BvS, LOL. When watching on theatre I was like "WTF is this shit" because of the bad cut, then watching the BD version I was like "this movie is my favourite" because of the good editing.
You guys are awesome 👍🏽👍🏽
I know what to expect. But i do understand when people say that Joker does work better with Batman.
Sean Stout it’s like venom without Spider-Man. People cry and cry for know reason when you can get some real good out of stand alone movies. We got a hard R with this film because batman wasn’t in it.
Didn't need him at all
Phoenix went beyond the milestone set by heath ledger..... this joker is the current benchmark.
The movie which gave me goose bumps after Fight Club.
9:30-9:54 I LITERALLY SAID THE SAME THING, DUDES. 10000% the feeling they were going for. Sure they tip toed on that line between sympathy and understanding someone’s point of view.
It reminded me of Mean Streets meets King of comedy, with touches of Paddy Chayefsky. You know way back when they made real movies.
Can't wait to see it. Who you got on Robert vs. Israel tonight
Bobby Knuckles via 2 or 3 round tko
Me too hope he takes Israel out
When you mentioned that the movie looked like it was untouched by the studio, I just realized that maybe Todd and the producers didn't negotiate the budget for this fílm. They be like, "Just give us $55M, we don't need more. Just don't touch our vision for this film." Hence Todd's vision was clear and in tact throughout.
They wanted more to use film instead of digital, but they wouldnt give them more money. Sad part is, if they get to do a follow up, they probably get a lot more money for it and that might actually become an issue and make the movie worse. Its at $619m 2 weeks after release. How many films that got giant budgets is actually good? Does 3m commercials on tv actually make people want to see the movie? it just makes me sick of the movie before its even released
And there you have it..... 5 out of 5! THE KING AND QUEEN HAVE SPOKEN!!!!!
I look at this film as the "based on actual events" that would inspire a horror movie. This Gotham City would create Arthur Fleck and I can only imagine the kind of Batman it would produce.
Brilliant film! It definitely sits with you and requires you to unravel it. It's a film I want to see again, but not immediately.
What if Arthur never killed the new psychiatrist in the last scene, and it was all in his head?! Noticed the room look a bit too clean, and the laughter at the end. Then, we’re all being fooled. That scene was a dream, and Arthur was never there.
I hope there's no sequel, and let this live as an all time stand alone legendary film.
I felt kinda weird cause my inner joy level rose with every kill. when he did the kill in the hospital i think i came a little. pretty sure my fucked up inner self revealed itself during this masterpiece! it sure has 5 stars on my list and is easily my favourite movie of 2019.
The only point of critic i could bring forward is, that Zazie Beetz character is pretty much unneccessary for the plot. but then we would have missed that very cool moment in her livingroom.
Greetz Mat (german guy who saw the trailer +150x)
You guys need to see Robert Pattinson in the following films
Good time
High life
The lighthouse
The rover
Hes excellent in all of them
Joker is excellent by the way.
musicfilmhead90 can’t wait for the lighthouse, if it’s even slightly better than the witch il give it a 10/10 lol
Theory about why they showed the dead bodies of the Waynes at the very end: if you look closely, Arthur appears to be significantly older (at least a few years) in the final sequence. Implying that significant time has passed. Then he thinks for a moment and says “I just thought of a joke”, and flashes the image of the Waynes. What if-and hear me out here-in that moment he realizes that, in a sense, HE created Batman? And what if THAT is the joke that his doctor wouldn’t get?
Also, I think the film subtly but clearly implies that Thomas Wayne was indeed Arthur’s biological father after all. The photo of his mom young and sexy, and on the back is written “I love your smile. -TW”. Seems like a pretty clear hint to me. A rich and powerful man like that could easily falsify documents and have a woman gaslit and committed to an institution. At any rate, the film cleverly leaves these ideas, and others, deliberately ambiguous and open to interpretation.
Anyway, food for thought. Great review of a great movie! Big fan of you guys. Subscribed! 👍🏼
I can't wait to see it
*You should do an updated review of Joker, it gets better the more you think and talk about it.*
He did u guys notice that when he first meets with his social worker the time is exactly the same as it is when it flashes to him banging his head in the cell ? Also when he first meets Sophie and has “sex with her “ the number on her door is different from when he goes In and fights our that he has just imagined her the whole time
Unmissable journey into the mind of the joker.......masterpiece performance. Easily in the top five film of the year.
This movie has heightened my love and appreciation of Joaquin Phoenix. His acting was tremendous. Also the cinematography and the soundtrack were pure art. Without a doubt, one of the best films I've seen in years.
As it goes, Todd Phillips had to pitch for upwards to a year to WB just to get the "go" to do this movie. This is testament of what happens when a studio gets the hell out of the way and lets the director and creatives present their vision without constant meddling from the top. Remember, WB execs have been sabotaging their productions as far back as Blade Runner (and it's upteenth versions), Superman II (remember Donner's troubles with the execs), and their twisting of everything Snyder. Plus, I can't even fault Leto's version since WB stepped in and pulled a hatchet job on the whole of Suicide Squad. Hopefully, after Joker's success, it'll open somebody's eyes over there.
THUMBNAIL IS BOSS
movie of the year Joaquin kills it
Awesomeness!!!
