    Rotten Tomatoes is a dumb useless website! I haven't seen any of the Alien films but now maybe I should. Chris Stuckman is a fucken snob! I can't stand the guy fuck that puto! Not going to as soon as I saw it was going to be an hour I made dinner and bust out the tea! lol Powder! oh god now I have to watch this series!

      The Bunny Barn by Jax
      The first film is very slow burn; it's very long, but it never feels long to me because the set up and atmosphere is so brilliant. I hope you get to see it soon, you'd never know it was the same director.

    • @brahmraxas
      @brahmraxas 7 лет назад +3

      The fact I hate about Stuckman is that he doesn't have the credibility to be a snob but acts like it. I like this channel because these guys, Samurai and Lady Phatblood are just fans who give their honest opinions about what they liked and disliked, but guys like stuckman are like "I am the Roger Ebert of youtube" whereas he has no basic understanding of Film Theory.

    • @JaxBTheRipper
      @JaxBTheRipper 7 лет назад +2

      he does think just because he has made some home videos that he knows what he is talking about. I've actually work on sets but i still don't go on and act like i know so much about film. He is probably signed some contract that maybe he can't speak bad of certain films. at the end of the day is all just his taste in movies and thats it.

    • @brahmraxas
      @brahmraxas 7 лет назад +1

      What's more horrifying is that he has immense influence on his fans and they choose to watch a movie based on his review. I know a guy who didn't watch Kong but was eager to watch the new GITS movie.

    • @JaxBTheRipper
      @JaxBTheRipper 7 лет назад +1

      i don't even think that one jeremy guy liked GITS which means there is some hope i guess

    I had the same problems. I have a science background so when they walked out without protection I was angry.

      THAT PHAT SAMURAI GUY LOL! YES!

    • @bharris3
      @bharris3 7 лет назад +1

      THAT PHAT SAMURAI GUY What makes it worse is that they established they should be in suits in Prometheus. Now only a few years later they lost all the sense they had? No. I was upset.

    • @bharris3
      @bharris3 7 лет назад +1

      THAT PHAT SAMURAI GUY It's nostalgia. Most of these so called movie critics don't know how to separate nostalgia from a film to determine if it's actually good. The android being David in the end was sooooo easy. I actually couldn't believe Ridley Scott meant that to be a reveal. He gave it away when he had to tape himself together. What, the crew didn't know that? They didn't know that this model, years after David, could heal itself? Home girl was standing there taping him up. She couldn't deduce that, "oh wait, this has to be the old model"? PLEASE!!! It was as obvious as some fat dude hiding behind a flagpole thinking he's hidden.

    • @bharris3
      @bharris3 7 лет назад

      NADS IQ They had helmets in Prometheus. If they wanted to differentiate they didn't have to make the characters stupid. They could have carried different equipment, or added different graffiti/color to their personal helmets/suits. They could have justified going without suits by having an emergency landing and the suits are unreachable. They could have started with the suits at least then some scientific gadget says "there are no KNOWN toxins or biohazards in the air or on the surface and no DETECTABLE threats from microbes, and even then there's no way you'd see me sticking porous cloth gloves into the mud or touching the liquid (I'm not calling it safe water till I test it). Ridley Scott made a sequel that wasn't even consistent with his own Prometheus movie.

    • @bharris3
      @bharris3 7 лет назад

      NADS IQ Yes but in Prometheus they at least started with helmets till it was determined safe and even then they had suits that they can SEEMINGLY touch things with and not worry about some foreign parasite. Also, yes it's all make believe but it's their job to keep me in the story. When they do something outrageous it pulls the audience out. If In the John Wick movie he used a squirt gun and people died when the water hit them it would force the audience to make believe harder because it would be stupid for John Wick to kill people with water from a squirt gun. At that point why pay? I have a science background and have worked in the medical field so when it comes to protective equipment I may not be able to tolerate outrageousness like the average person. These are supposed to be people who were selected out of many to go on this mission. They should know some things.

    this discussion on the film was the best I've watched so far from anyone. And I watched a good amount of 'em lol. You both covered pretty much all of my gripes. I wanted to see a continuation of prometheus and was grasping for the little amount they gave us. it's upsetting, but there's nothing to do about it. I'll keep watching these new films because of my love for the Alien films and the lore, but one can't help but feel slighted. Cheers and thanks again for the video.

  • @MercifulAndvary
    @MercifulAndvary 7 лет назад +2

    I agree that the most dreadful sin of this film is that it tries to undermine the aliens' origin. Anything else may get a pass, but this one - nope. "Alien film" is, in essence, a film about humans in the incomprehensible, indifferent and hostile universe (kinda like Lovecraft books). And this film tries to take it from us. Too bad Neill Blomkamp didn't get to direct an "alien film", he would probably treat the source material with more respect.

    I'm going to have to watch this movie again when it comes out. This discussion made a lot of good points that I can't clearly recall in the film. Overall I enjoyed the movie, it wasn't great, but I liked it.
    Part of me was happy we got an explanation for the "creation" of the Xenomorph, but at the same time I agree that having that mystery solved (especially like this) kind of hurts the series in a way. I enjoyed the character arc of David, minus the strange flute scene.
    It felt like the xenomorphs took a backseat to the androids to some degree. I wish they would have blended more practical effects in with the CGI of the xenmorph, but I was able to look past that for the most part.
    As far as the human characters go; I agree with you completely. Not enough time with their development to really care about them. I do wish they had put the Last Supper scene in the movie because it does help with a lot of the character introduction. I had seen it prior to watching the movie, so I think I subconsciously blended it into the film on my own.
    I am hoping for a director's cut of this movie when it comes out in August. I liked the movie, but it felt like an incomplete puzzle and i'm hoping a director's cut will help smooth over the rough edges with more context.

    So glad to see someone else that likes alien 3! After seeing alien covenant which i enjoyed ( having some of the Movie on you tube is bullshit , sorry you tube ) the franchise might just be one of the few you can watch in order of best to worse ( skipping the alien vs predator ones of course) curious were ridley Scott goes with that last of his prequel trilogy .

    I haven't seen this movie but from what a lot of the fans are saying, much like you guys, it distorts the mythology.
    This is extremely disappointing for this beloved franchise and we can only imagine how Blomkamps Ripely, Griggs and Newt reboot would have faired. sigh.

    Ok just saw it awhile ago & damn yea everything you guys said is true like movie moved way to fast did not careless about anyone like movie is mostly about David. Then part where he fight other self i was like there is no way you could have won even if David cut Walter in the throat or neck plus his voice was messing up so idk how he could talk as Walter plus change into his cloths,chop his hand off & cut his own face. The end how an Alien was on ship was the result of David putting the black goo on that patch he places on that guy with half of his face gone...anyways sorry for long comment hope you understand.

    After seeing Cecil's short review on GoodBadFlicks I wasn't sure that I would go see this but after your review I am totally skipping it now. Here's my question....we can go to different planets and travel through space but we don't have freaking lasers to fight with!? Also I think it would be cool if the engineers created the Predators as an answer to the xenomorphs. Anyway YOU guys rock.

    I was just hopping that the engineers were using the black goo they used to seed planets and then mixed it with Xeno DNA to create a version of the Xeno that they could control to fight an out brake on the engineer home world after they found them on THEIR OWN home world. Only to find out that the Xenomorph can't be tamed in anyway leading to the movie Prometheus. But whatever.

    The clown from Aliens was Burke, okay here we go with my 2 cents worth............... Prometheus & Covenant was shite bro, I only viewed them in the sense we were finally going to find out where the Xenomorph's come from but nah man, they bloody go in a different direction of what my simple brain could handle IMO, wasted my time again, these 2 flicks farken disconnected themselves from the quadrilogy that I have idolised since way back when. The same thing happened with Predator and it's various sequels IMO. Any way you 2 guys got some good input in terms of movies so keep up the reviews man, P.S. never seen the assembly cut of Alien 3, my simple brain enjoyed the theatrical release and it was great, take it easy you guys.

    I seriously think that Ridley Scott just did this movie to troll the fuck out of everyone that talked shit about Prometheus. He literally killed off everything about Prometheus and gave us this dumbed down, xenomorph, gore, alien ripoff to please all the casual fanboys. I don't think that was the Prometheus engineers' planet. I think he destroyed the city of the other faction of engineers, of the peaceful, life giving engineers that sacrificed themselves to seed the Earth, and not the warrior engineers that were set to bring the black goo to destroy life on Earth. Thats why on this movie they didn't look like the buff, godlike, bondage, warrior engineers. They had more like robes like the ones at the start of Prometheus. Did you notice the Women engineers?
