    Okay, so I am almost exclusively a thriller / horror story or movie fan. I’m not an avid reader but really love audiobooks. I am interested in authors like Stephen King (to own all his works eventually) and new to me authors such as David Sodergren. The issue is I do not know, as a non member currently, how to look up the available books on audible for such specific authors. Is the only option to sign up for a free trial and browse myself or is there a way to browse without all the hoopla (little joke dropping a rival audiobook app!)?
    Also - Horror podcasts on Audible?
    Thank you for your time!

      Hi! Welcome aboard. Audible’s an excellent platform for self-education. Are you an Audible member?
      Premium Plus members receive a 30% discount on all books or more. Sometimes they have 2-books-for-1-credit sales. When you run out of credits, you can also buy 3 more at a discounted rate. If you’re not a member, unfortunately there are no discounts but you do get to enjoy the rest of Audible’s general benefits.

    • @SamuelEarth

      I’m not sure I entirely understand the question - do you mean before or after buying the book?
      If you mean before buying the book, you can always sample the book. There should be a 5min section of the book you can sample and listen to as many times as you want before buying the book. If you mean after buying the book, you’re welcome to return it (which I’ve made videos about) but I suggest checking out their return policy before doing so just to make sure you’re able to.

    Questions:
    1. For how long will I be able to continue listening to books which I have already purchased with my credits and are in my library.
    2. Will I be able to buy books with my credits which are still unused even though I am not renewing my monthly membership.
    3. For how long can I continue listening to my purchased books without renewing my membership.
    4. If I renew again let's say after 3 months of not renewing will the old purchases still be audible 😅?

      Thanks for watching, Jay! Those are some good questions. The answers to 1, 3, and 4 are pretty much the same - when you buy a book, you get to keep it forever in your library EVEN IF you cancel your membership. There is NO expiration date for the use of purchased audiobooks.
      As for #2, credits do expire under certain conditions. Worst case scenario, they expire after a year if you do not use them. It depends on a few different factors but I’ll be putting a video out soon with more info about Audible credits (probably in the next week).

    Do you have more info on badges? What are each of the levels and what does it take to attain them, etc.

    • @SamuelEarth
      @SamuelEarth  4 месяца назад +3

      There are 18 badges: 7-day stretch, Alexa, collector, dabbler, daily dipper, high noon, marathoner, Mt Everest, nibbler, night owl, repeat listener, sampler, stenographer, the closer, the stack, watchtower, weekend warrior, and social butterfly. If you tap on each one, it’ll give you a little rhyme with a hint on how to get it.
      I looked for the time needed to achieve different listening levels and couldn’t find it on the app. One source online said newbie is 10hrs, novice is 50hrs, pro is 100hrs, scholar is 250hrs, and master is 500hrs.
      I think both ideas are cute and fun ways to gamify or track someone’s experience as a listener just starting out, giving one more of a sense of pride and accomplishment for the time they spend with Audible.

    • @lburke5623

      @@SamuelEarth with the badges though there’s different levels from what I can tell, but I’m not finding a ton of info on how they work.
      Example. I’m finding that there are three levels for each badge (but the articles are written in 2017). For “daily dipper” it they state the three levels for this badge are
      Silver: Listening every day for 7 days - Gold: Listening every day for 30 days - Diamond: Listening every day for 90 days.
      But on my profile I have “listened for 90 days” and the badge is gold, no clue what it’s supposed to look like if it’s “diamond” but I’m not finding anything on audible outlining anything about their badges or even confirming anything that’s listed in the articles from 2017.

    I think my only question or comment is, what is the main advantage of audible VS just checking out an audiobook at the library? I think the only difference would be convenience of availability and maybe more titles

    • @SamuelEarth
      @SamuelEarth  5 месяцев назад +3

      I’d say the main advantage is permanent ownership. Once you buy a book on Audible you get to keep it forever even if you cancel your membership. Some others are precisely what you mentioned - no question about it, Audible has the largest selection of audiobooks online. It’s also very convenient to use and you don’t need to go out of your way to borrow or return anything. Instead of going to the library for free, that’s what you’re essentially paying for. I’d say the more of an audio bookworm you are, the more it’s worth it, especially if you like much newer or less accessible titles. They’re more available on Audible than any other platform.

    So not technically competent here ... considering Audible. Would want to listen on my iphone. Is the Audible app best for this (rather than apple books or another app)? Do I have to use earbuds or headphones (they bother my ears, as I have tinnitus)? Finally, do you need to be connected to the cloud to download audiobooks to your iphone? Thank you!

    • @SamuelEarth
      @SamuelEarth  3 месяца назад +1

      I cannot speak for Apple Books or other apps, but I’ve been using Audible for almost 9yrs and upon research you may conclude with good reason why it’s such a reputable and competitively priced platform for audiobook streaming.
      That being said, I understand your concern with the tinnitus and coming from a fellow iPhone user, you may be happy to learn that you do NOT need to use your headphones and it’ll work with just the internal speakers in your iPhone.
      I don’t believe you need access to extra iCloud storage in order to download audiobooks to your iPhone. In order to DOWNLOAD the books, you need internet access, and in order to STORE the downloaded books, you at least need storage space on the phone. I hope this answered your questions!

    • @SamuelEarth
      @SamuelEarth  4 месяца назад

      In order to be able to buy extra credits, you have to have a membership that includes credits, you have to have no credits left, and your membership has to be active for over 30 days. If you fit this criteria and there’s nothing wrong with your payment method but you’re still having problems I recommend giving Audible a call at 1-888-283-5051.
      As far as claiming credits, if you have a membership where you get credits monthly or annually, you do not have to claim them - they should just show up on your account. If it isn’t showing up automatically, you may not have one of those memberships. The actual plans I go over at 1:00 in this video. ruclips.net/video/7JWqEGllv-E/видео.htmlsi=AAW0r9LRY-r4esLU The first one doesn’t involve credits.

    This is what have been happening to me with audible for a while: Any of my audiobooks on the library shows the chapters titles, they will only show "Chapter 1, Chapter 2..." and so on. This happens in every single one of my devices (iPhone, iPad, computer). Do you know how to fix this? Thanks on advance.

    • @SamuelEarth
      @SamuelEarth  5 месяцев назад

      Hi! I’m not sure I understand the question. Are you having trouble seeing the actual chapter names no matter what book it is?
      Some books don’t have chapter names other than “Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, etc.” because of how the author formatted the chapters. To my understanding, that’s all up to the author, but if you’re seeing that on every single book you check out regardless of the author, it’s probably worth reaching out to Audible customer service about.

So even with the premium subscription, you can't listen to more than 1 exclusive book per month (using the 1 credit premium) without paying more money. 1. I would like to know how to contact Audible without having to pay an expert with years of experience.
    2. I'm tired of some books not available to South Africa. I bought a lot of books from the same author then when I wanted to buy the next book in the series it wasn't available to me. I contacted the author and she was so very helpful and within a week the book was available. I'm sure authors want to sell their books. I would like to know why this happens.
    3. I have an Audible US account and I see you can have more than 1 account so I am hoping all books will be available if I open a UK account.

      2. I’m hoping this answers 3 and 4 as well.
      As an American, this always bothered me. Many people from other countries aren’t able to access certain books on Audible. I’ve looked into this and according to Speechify, “This limitation is typically enforced due to the territorial rights agreed upon by the audiobook service and the book publishers. Consequently, the Audible website or app may deny access to specific titles if a user’s IP address signals they are in a region where that particular audiobook is not licensed for distribution.” It sounds like legal reasons to me.
      They mention in the same article that there are ways around this such as relocating your Audible account from one country to another or using a VPN. This is something I strongly prefer to stay away from on this channel. They’re restrictions for a reason and whatever that reason may be, I don’t want to be telling people how to “bypass it”. I hope that’s respectable. You can always Google it though!

      @@SamuelEarth but they are free of charge on RUclips and Spotify ( ok there are maybe 10-100k max books ) and some are 10+ hours. I think they are just greedy.

      That’s the thing. People don’t just pay for the audiobooks. They also pay for the selection, which is unmatched. 10-100k is nothing compared to it.
      You can also cancel your membership and you automatically keep every audiobook you’ve ever bought at no extra monthly charge. I haven’t heard of any other platforms that do this.

      In many cases you don’t have to buy the book because it’s included in the membership, and when you pay for a monthly subscription a lot of the books can be 70-80% off which is just totally nuts. They have 2-for-1 deals so obviously you can sometimes get twice the book you pay for. Not to mention they also have meditations, bedtime stories, sleep tracks, and they didn’t hold back at all. I mean it’s really the Amazon of audiobooks. Say what you want about Amazon - that’s not greedy when you’re a hungry listener but I’ll agree it’s not for everyone.

      What is included in the Premium Plus membership?
      Do I still need to pay for books on Premium Plus membership?
      Can a family share a membership?
