I haven't played a Napoleon myself, but I can very easily see it being a Defender. It's just not the steriotypical "Get behind my sheild" philosophy of defender. Rather, its the "I'm going to rush in and be an unkillable troll so no one even pays attention to my teammates" philosophy. Get in close, draw aggro, let your snipers and hackers do their jobs in peace.
Speaking of, since you can still Ram and Boost during Trueblack, the Juggernaut talent tree is looking pretty tasty...

I have a build that has the Napoleon + Emperor to make a support mech. I use SHAHNAMEH and THE WALK OF KINGS to give overshield and because they have the shield tag I can use it in the Aegis shield. I use blink shield to defend myself and my team mates from artillery/ unforeseen area damage, and a stasis barrier to make sure enemies don't go where I don't want them.

an idea that i had was to speck into brawler and juggernaut talents, and turn the napoleon into a brawler.
cause with aegis active you only take dmg 1, you can still smack a guy with an improv attack and with 2 lvls in brawler do 2D6+2 dmg wich is just a heavy melee at that point.
and you can boost and ram people into walls dealing more dmg.
and with a point in blackbeard with synthetic musclenetting you can ram and grapple whoever you damn well want.
and with tortugas sieage ram you can add 2 dmg to just hitting your ram and if they hit a wall another 1D6.
you can turn him into a little irish drunk brawler if you like.

Not actually sure how difficult it is to include/add in your videos, but timestamps would be helpful. All good work otherwise

Would love to see a video on the Shallowtail & its Variant as well as the Kobold.

My read is it replaces resistance, and so happens after armor takes it's cut, so the remaining damage is reduced to 1. Didn't see anything about it in the errata

    So a Few Comments:
Blinkshield Works really well with Trueblack Aegis, The basic idea is you position such that several enemies will be inside the dome and then you put them into timeout with you, If you act before the enemies take their turn this round, and wait till after they take their turn next round you can functionally remove them from the battlefield for 2 turns, and because you have true black Aegis active (in this example) those enemies will have to hit you so many times in order to actually harm you. The other thing that you can do with this that you failed to account for is unlike the stasis ability from earlier on you can affect multiple enemies with this, and so long as they are not on the edge of the barrier (they are closer than 4 squares away from you) they dont get a save. The added flexiblity you get to create a moment for everyone on your side to stabilise or othewise cure themselves of negative status conditions cannot be overlooked as well and again with proper turn management you can get 2 turns out of this effect if you want by acting first on the round when you trigger it, and then by acting last on the round when it ends.
True Black Aegis is one of the few core bonuses that make me want to take Universal Compatibility as a Core Bonus (instantly heal all damage and clear all heat when you activate your core power) this allows you to take a real pounding and then go back up to full health while being incredibly difficult to kill
As a Defender/Controller Frame its primary roll is to actually get up in its opponents faces and be disruptive and annoying hanging back and trying to play defense is the exact wrong thing to do in most cases (although if you grab the Shield from the Drake you can halve the damage they take, and then make use of your Aegis to protect you removing a bunch of damage from the board.)
I think it also adds some spice when you consider investing in Brawler, if you primary means of attack is actually improvised attacks and grapples and rams you can get to the knockout blow maybe once or twice a fight, and with your good save target you stand a solid chance of stunning something.

The Napoleon is probably my least favorite frame, but has some of the best systems to build on to other mechs.
Stasis Bolt: A good investment on nearly anything for a single point. Got a spare quick action at the start of the game because you are out of range? Use this and have a shot at parrying that huge attack from the enemy elite. This is also hilarious on a Death's Head since you can use the flat +1 to hit and accuracy mods to make this more likely to work.
The shields: They are just good options on any range mech that is just shooting and standing still like Drake or Barbie. Or use them with a melee mech and lock a key target in a thunder dome with you.
Disruptor: I hope you have good heat dissipation. This is hilarious as a back up weapon on a Sherman or Ghengis - just keep it in your back pocket and fire it only when shit gets real. It's 10 blast 1, and it's on a rifle, so you can literally crack shot with it and just end people.
Phasemod: Just don't use it, ever. Giving yourself a flat 50% chance to miss on every shot would be amazingly broken in a full on D&D style rpg where you can snipe enemies through 15 feet walls or something before the fight starts but Lancer doesn't work that way. * (Apparently it doesn't need to be rolled unless Phase mod was required to hit).

Fortunately, there's an errata from the creator that indicates that Phase Ready Mod only activates its 50/50 on an attack thats ignoring the line of sight, you can ignore cover anytime you want with no penalty, as long as you see who you are targeting.

I think one of the most significant design flaws is that the Napoleon is really good at saving the party from an absolute worst case scenario but maybe having any other built would actually have prevented this very same worst case scenarion in the first place because one could have played more proactively. Other than that, the Napoleon is just....not that exciting, compared to other Defenders, you have the massive Size 2 Defenders with shotguns and reactions and providing cover just be mere presence and then there is just this small little dude. The systems are excellent by themselves but I can't really see anyone wanting to play Napoleon by itself around LL 2 to 3.
