@@trumpsb757sucks5 It was 1994 actually. I remember it like it was yesterday. Was completely blown away by that sound. Then Tricky released his "Maxinquaye" a year later... What can I tell you, it was a good decade for music.

instead of searching for one particular definitive meaning for this song (and video), just enjoy the multitude of varied meanings and reflections the beautifully formed lyrics and images create anew in your mind upon every listen :)
Being teenager and after this song came I became comfortable with myself being weird , awkward , paranoid ... it just clicked with me. Started enjoying all aspects of my own craziness and delusions with precise distinction what is real and what is not.
Sure your Grandad felt he same when he first heard Eddy Cochrane singing 'Something Else'.. I.e. Don't kid yourself, whatever your felt/have felt, millions of others have been there before you , you're not special, none of us are.

Jonathan Glazer is a genious, what he did in this video is bonkers and it captures song mood with Tricky perfectly, hats off SIR!
