I love how this song introduces itself within the first 24 seconds. I know it’s not even the best part of the song but it has such a comforting and euphoric sound that builds into this sudden shock where the darker sound begins and leaves you on edge for the remainder of the song
They were in a fight during the recording of the album. Each member would contribute his part separately, then they would bring it to producer who had to juggle with it all....crazy eh?
"Mezzanine" is an album I frequently listen when I'm reading "Snow Crash", the book written by Neal Stephenson. This song, in special, fits so good in some scenes in history. I love both so much.
Mezzanine is avant garde music, ahead of its time as Blue lines was but perfected in its sound and atmospheres. You can't say a word on electronic music w/o an honorable mention to Massive Attack.
After a short break in July from the 1997 tour in Turkey, Massive Attack would return to Bristol with cassettes of Turkish music which would be the inspiration for what would eventually become Inertia Creeps. The Turkish music was overheard by Massive Attack at a club in the Turkish city Istanbul and the very percussive nature of it piqued 3D’s interest immediately.
The first time I bought this CD in '98, my friends frowned..."Who the hell are they?" Well...turns out I had to buy this CD THREE times, because it kept coming up missing, lol. I love every song, and this is so mellow, smooth, soothing and beautiful. LOVE IT!
3:19-3:59 is just the most addictive part of this song. It all comes together right there- a bridge to higher ground. The aubade & digital love personified, as it comes out of the shadows like a phoenix from a tear drop.
somtimes you just hear a song, and this song is so special you cant belive it how amazing it is, you dont have words to explain it, a magical song who comes out from your soul
i cant stop coming all th etime to this video and listen to this amzing song. when i think about one of the best songs who is ever written i would say this one is ony of my biggest favorite songs of all time. the lyrics, the voice, the music for me this is a true masterpiece.
You should listen to the live version they did for MTV that's here on YT. It's amazing and watching it performed live feels even more intense and intimate. I highly recommend it if you love the song.
It was originally quoted as being about watching a recording of a murder! But the PR agent got involved and result was to just leave it alone and not risk any potential problems in the future!!
0:16 Chair Lounge chair ottoman Charles and Ray Eames was the one who designed this lounge chair in 1956. It is inspired by the traditional armchair of an English club. The goal was to reach a sophisticated and comfortable design. Great Chair!!!
Massive Attack master the art of tuning their music to the human heart rhythm. In less than a minute, you no longer know if the music you listen comes from ouside- or rather from inside you.
Massive Attack music is like something out of this world. like when I first watched The Matrix 1999 film. There music is so unreal like that. That movie blew my mind away when I was a kid.
Thats the thing about trip hop, you play the record and the landscape changes. The ability to override the listner surrounding and take him to a different place is one of the most important skills for a musician. At least that's what I strive for makeing music.
I reposted in English, because I thought it was such a beautiful placement, and I think it should be read by more people. "IMassive Attack is more than a reflection of an era. It is a phantom asteroid which returns to set its sights on sound art. A decadent wave charged with paradoxes from which escape obscurantism and the irrational, hypnotic factors defying vulnerable souls in search of the absolute. Their sound architecture is a short tunnel that leads to light!"
This song is so disturbing and dark as hell. Love the bass. These people are the real deal. Is this song about being obsessive with someone. This song is so underrated and probably their most darkest songs on the third album
I used to think it was equating strangulation with orgasm, then I just watched the video and it's an actual snuff film. The actual aboutisms, I think that depends on your own point of view. I'd say it's more about playing your part and owning up to your guilt in any situation, from victim to viewer, now that I've watched the video. The video is from the the point of the camera man...who eventually is also shown to be at least active in the cover up. ..he's got the wonderful role of every single player wrapped up in one.
ok i found out after 10 years""Inertia creeps" is a term used to describe the tendency of an object to resist any change in its motion. This can be applied to both physical objects and to human behavior. In physics, inertia is a property of matter that resists changes in its velocity. An object with a high inertia will be more difficult to accelerate or decelerate than an object with a low inertia. In psychology, inertia refers to the tendency of people to resist change in their behavior or thinking patterns. People with high inertia may be more resistant to new ideas or experiences, and may be more likely to stick to their current habits."

Beautiful way of describing that. Love when love is shown to great music

I am turkish and now at least I know why I fell in love with this song so hard
That's it then. The Tea Party has included some of this in their music I think (e.g. Halycon days). Adds a very unusual sound in western music.

Utterly brilliant song and video. The entire album seems to capture the paranoia and secret thoughts of those living in a thriving city at night..

Probably the best song of Massive Attack

M.A. have been with me since my early childhood. This is one of their best and a personal favorite. The percussion adds so much steam in there.
