Official video of Massive Attack performing Daydreaming from the album Blue Lines. Видеоклипы
Over 30 years old and still sound as fresh as the day I first heard.
34 years old...and counting...
RUclips advised me that I highly offended someone with my previous comment. Had to delete it. This is a great track regardless if MA sample a lot of their music.
This is what British Hip Hop should sound like, what a track, what an album, holy fuck
Check out trip hop music, this is an example of it. Half of it is singing, but it's still great either way.
sonikku956 I don't think this is trip hop, when I think of trip hop I think of shitty lounge music.
Both this and Maxinquaye have this paranoid, anxious edge to them. A real urban menace. I think Blue Lines is one of the best albums ever.
+KarlJC1411 This is early trip hop dude, the kind that had more rapping in it.
sonikku956 yeah I get that, but what I associate trip - hop with just doesn't sound like Maxinquaye and Blue Lines at all. And neither does Mezzanine for that matter.
I get what you mean though, it's all good.
@@CrashJC123 Your understanding of trip hop is shit. You've been mislead because Blue Lines and especially Protection and Mezzanine are definitive trip hop.
The Blue Lines album is on of my all time favourite desert island records. It's such an integral part of my collection slash life. I moved to the UK from Australia in 1994, when I was 21 and Massive Attack and Sisters of Mercy heavily influenced the reasons why I wanted to be in the UK....
The use of the Wally Badarou sample is impeccable
Unknown to many , this track is based on a sample from a well respected Nigerian music producer : Wally Badarou - Mambo. Listen to his full production with sysnths ....saying that Massive Attacks rap and vocals were just real genius ! British at its best
Très juste monsieur...on peut même parler d un véritable plagiat musical..car la musique est bien le morceau mambo du très talentueux Wally badarou..pour l info ce grand artiste est bininois (le benin) ..et non negerian...
Very fair sir ... we can even speak of a real musical plagiarism ... because the music is indeed the mambo piece of the very talented Wally Badarou ... for the info this great artist is Bininois (Benin) ..and not Negerian. ..
Babs I found it and yes.................. thank you - Wally Badarou
Too many "fans" think this act was "ahead of their time" when ALL of their music was unoriginal and sampled from previous acts. Really frustrating to read the praises and odd veneration for rip-off music.
TIL.
Love Robert 's voice in this song.
what an epic era for music...
Massive Attack are incredible, This era of music is so special to me having just hit my teens in 90 and got the best decade of weird new music (according to all the old souls) I've ever heard in my 5 decades. I love Motown,60's Rock and too many other genres to mention but UK music in the 90's was the most fire decade in music history imo.
I just read my thoughts, my opinion in your comment
Old souls?
Never thought i'd say this but Sherlock you nailed it 🥸 Love the Massive 😊
Yea all that music has stood the test of time being therapeutic to me for years those artists with all that music has been one of the biggest reasons why I’m a survivor
This song does NOT sound 29 years old! Massive Attack way ahead of their time.
The only thing that dates it is "yes daddy"
wally badarou-mambo (1984)
I brought this to 2nd grade for our music class in Norway. No other kid liked it. Still one of my favorite
Ho does a "normal" 29 year old song sound?
fuck, i'm old
One of the best bands to emerge in the last 30 years out of my country-awesome music!
One of the greatest bands ever, period. MA is extraordinary.
This is fresh!! Been a fan of these cats since they came out in the late 80's. I still am and always will be. Wow,thats creative and timeless music!! There is more talent in this single track than a hundred tracks being created today.
This was the first song I heard from them on the MTV back in the days when it was still fresh. Loved it, and I still love it.
Bloody hell, I'm feckin' old.
good card, a tiger. very good card.
it will bring you good fortune, good luck, good health and strength.
massive
Massssiiiiiiveeeeeee
4:09 as to be one of the most satisfying moment in music history.
I love that part too, wish it was longer.
1991 I fell in love with this tune I remember playing it on my Walkman .... With a blunt on my way to college 👊
+Luis Meloni hi, blunt is mariajuana? please answer
+manuel sandoval yes
A blunt pencil ???
+Luis Meloni woah, you were such a rebel.....
+Franken Stein (Doctor) 👍🏻
Older you get, better you understand this guys...
Marian 88 what you mean?
Spot. On.
Nothing to add Absolut true
Huh?
Love that they sample "Fiddler on the Roof" and the Beatles. Awesome.
Hahaaha. I love that "if I was a rich man part". That was pretty perfect.
"if i was a rich man tararara tararara tarararararara" hahahhaa
Saludos de Chile.
Do you know what does this mean? what's the reference?
@@giacomomantovani8349 Fiddler on the Roof
@@edmundbarker2311
@giacomomant its a song from 'fiddler on the roof'... im sure youll find it no probs.
3D Tricky and Sarg are massive
4:09. I want more of that god damn it. That one moment is the bset bit.
Geeeee8 gotta agree
Just listen to the song that this samples (Mambo, by Wally Badarou).
Here comes the sun little darlin',here comes the sun (It's all right)
+insme ☀
Put your headphones on and listen to Massive Attack’s ‘Unfinished Symphony.’ I listen, then listen again.... Awesome track..
Just discovered that one! 💜🙏🏾 and I had headphones on when it first came on
One of the best songs =)
Still gives shivers when I hear unfinished sympathy
So cool!
Boom chick a chick, Boom chick a chick.
+Onmysheet Favourite part.
Because my AK Rig goes boom boom
8k rig surely?
This may be one of the best made videos of all time..
The whole atmosphere of the room with the rapers and female vocal at the window is such a perfect balance .
Rapers? That's a hell of an accusation!
Eeks…’Can I have a ‘P’ please Bob?’
There's a P missing there
10yrs on, Bob hasn't corrected his typo.
you might wanna add a p….
The world is better with massive
1991 was a year for beautiful music.
Love this beat! Love Massive Attack forever!
Wally Badarou from his track Mambo
The Masters of Trip Hop and Dub
Its Wally Badarou...of Level 42 aha!
This is one of the greatest songs of all time
Unfinished Sympathy…
i agree
Not really, fella.
Track is produced arround 1990 and still absolutly worth to hear
Breathtaking song and video.😀
I'm getting really addicted to this masterpiece ever since I've first heard it This is way ahead of its time The lyrics, the percussion, the female vocals, the sexualized beat was spot on One of the lyrics i recognized the rich part from Gwen Stefani's 2004 single Rich Girl I didn't notice it was from a musical, This is the best one i've ever heard in history
If I were a rich man - From the musical fiddler on the roof.
Answer : YES!
Question : Will I always love this song?
Massive ❤️
This beat makes me jig! I don't think I've ever heard a bad Massive Attack song, they're so damn good.
"Daydreaming"
[Refrain: Shara Nelson & 3D]
I quietly observe, standing in my space
Yes, Daddy
Daydreaming
Massive, Massive, Massive
I quietly observe standing in my space
Daydreaming
[Verse 1: 3D, Tricky & Daddy G]
Way that we say 'em in style that we writ 'em in
Massive Attack, we keep it strong just like a vitamin
Going for the positive, wiping out the negative songs
'Cause, brother, it's relative
The passer's picking up all the lyrics on the dance floor
That raise your spirit level 'cause it demands for
Attitude is cool, degrees below zero
Up against the wall, behaving like De Niro
Tricky's performing, taking his phono
Making a stand with a tan, touch it like cocoa
Smooth to keep you moving at the back now
Free is the needle, it's moving through the track now
Dance to the drummer's beats, we need new sticks
Bounce around the vibes like acoustics
No drugs or pharmaceuticals, for the body, ain't suitable
Stick with liquid, me and Trick, we drop
A paper which you use my tongue to lick with
Trouble and strife ain't no sunshine in my life
Wiseguys get protection when they carry a knife
They shouldn't have been born, they're making me yawn
But I just take it easy, it's a Sunday morn'
So, you come on light my fire and
Together we'll grow forever, watch my Akai rig go
Because my Akai rig goes boom, boom
My Akai rig goes boom
Yeah, rhymin' the jam and, uh, we got the stamina
In case you never know us if we don't give a damn and uh
And it's hard to handle, keep your distance
Resist and the posse gets the pleasure of this dance
The cool breeze that you welcome in the heat
You don't see it but you feel it when it's blowing on the street
If I was a rich man
Da da dada
I quietly observe, standing in my space
It's the devious days they call the rat race
It's a concrete jungle, evil in the town
Weebles, wobble, occasional squabble
But what happen when the bomb drops Down
Don't make sound, yes
'Cause the dance floor's a desert and the dancers are parched
Do a rain dance and your brain's still marsh
My heavy, my brother get lighter than helium
Float above the world to break the tedium
Living in my headphones, Sony's what I say to 'em
The surreal boom of the Budokan stadium
[Refrain: Shara Nelson]
Well, I'm floating on air when I'm daydreaming
I quietly observe standing in my space
[Verse 2: 3D & Tricky]
Well, I'm tricky, kid, don't deal with sadness
Can't be with the one I love, I love the one that I miss
I'm very down to earth but brain sits on top floor
Don't need another lover just need, I'm insecure
The weather is a-changin', the storms be shakin'
The love that you take is equal to the love you're makin'
Here comes the sun little darlin here comes the sun (It's alright)
Yes, tricky kid, I check my situation
Maggie this, Maggie that, Maggie means inflation
Hip-hop, you don't stop, 'cause I'm not sloppy
I like the beat so we need another copy
We're natives of the massive territory and we're proud
Get peaceful in the dance, adapt the glory and the crowd
The problem ain't a different kind of skin tricks
I love my neighbor, I don't wait for the olympics
See you go hooligan, you're trying to play the fool again
Caught you in the lost and found
When your posse weren't around
No craft
So, you're going for you tool again
[Refrain: Shara Nelson]
Daydreaming
I quietly observe standing in my space
Daydreaming
Well I'm floating on air when I'm daydreaming

Album BLUE LINES (1991)
Awesome masterpiece from an awesome album!
Everything about this song is just amazing!
Truly a brilliant track 🎶🔊😎🙌🏼
Woman at the window and guys on the couch are amazing scenes for this video.Classic stuff here in my world that will stay with me.
Significant masterpiece ❤️
This song is just full of surprises ... I love it !!
massive track!!!!! massive band !!!!
No other band could mimic this.
"Yes, Tricky kid, I check my situation
Maggie this, Maggie that
Maggie means inflation
Hip-hop, you don't stop and I'm not sloppy
I like the beat so we need another copy."
I love these guys.
I read this comment just as Tricky said it in the video.
Cringe.
I envy those who knows MA since 1991... I opened them for myself jist in 2013, but it's better then never
I was just watching Fiddler on the Roof, and I heard a line that I remember a line from this song "If I was a richman"
That hat is dope.
Never gets old.
I quietly observe standing in my space...daydreamin'
So smoothly by the years ... always so good listening ...
Drums on this still sound ridiculously good. Loved it when I was 12, probably didn't really understand why but 21 years on I can totally pinpoint it. I didn't make music then, but all of the MA stuff now makes a lot mores sense as a music nerd!
I instantly relax when I hear your stuff you guys. So very much appreciated. Peace Christo 👽👽🐕🐕🎶🎶🛸🛸🕺🕺🔦🔦👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌🏻✌🏻🤖🙏🙏
Mesmerising vocals.
Boum chikichi 😍❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Massive Boum 🙌👏🏼🙌👏🏼🙌👏🏼🙌🙌
"Because my AKAI rig goes boom boom, my AKAI rig goes boom."
Oh my God, I love that line.
I think it might be 8K rig.
I thought was "AK" but that does match the message at all
AK as for AK-47 (Soviet assault rifle)
@@Ar41e After ten years I can assure you it is AKAI - a Japanese make of audio equipment. Do not fool yourself into thinking you know more about this song than I do.
@@Rich.Newell Well it fucking isn't, so.
I can't even handle the hat technology going on in this video.
It's at the very brim of what we thought possible
I'll tip my hat to the hattitude in this hereby comment section.
"Hat technology". :D
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring on this one, "Hat technology", I doff my cap to that one
I think this was filmed in Panama. Top stuff. I was bowler'd over with all the flat cap hat references, but trilby honest I was getting quite fedora with the play on words and decided to sit back and enjoy a nice porkpie - Spliff in the ashtray - that's the knowledge that I give......
i think they're from another planet or somethin.
Yeah Brizzle init.

Truly masterpiece
Brilliant song from a brilliant album
Yes, alternative genius! 💯
OOOOOOHHHHH MY GOOOOOOOD!!!! I HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE HAS BEEN ALMOST 5 YEARS THAT I'VE TRIED TO FIND THIS VIDEO ON RUclips. I HAD WATCHED THIS VIDEO SEVERAL TIMES ON MTV DURING THE BEGINNING OF 90'S, BUT I COULDN'T REMEMBER THAT THIS VIDEO WAS FROM MASSIVE ATTACK! OH GOD!!!! THANK YOU! I FINALLY FOUND IT! I ALMOST CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I'M SO EXCITED NOW! AMAZING!
Lol
Pure gold.
Massive! ! !
Brilliant!
I'm so blown away by this song last I used to hear it every day almost 5 years ago
Saw this on the 'international episode' of Yo! MTV Raps, along with MC Solaar. That glorious day was my introduction to Massive Attack.. 1991!
+bh617 same here. I remember when Ed Lover asked them who they listen to over in England and they said Vanilla Ice.
@tarrded no, only the same sort of divs who listened to him stateside listened to him here. Beat Streat and hip-hop culture wasn't far behind here you know, and in many ways ahead, and in graffiti alone we soon became the masters. I was 18 when this came out and only the divs were listening to vanilla ice. I seem to remember he was one that your lot produced though, while these guys are what we produced, simply out of the party scene. We'd heard everything you had in 91, public enemy, nwa. And before that Scott la rock and krs1. Do not for one minute buy into anything your media tells you. That is not at all how england was in 91. For a start the whole Manchester thing was about over, we had been into the pixies (signed to an English label throughout) and nirvana long before MTV introduced them to America. Pixies highest chart position USA # 78. Highest UK # 8. so, no, whatever you " heard" from an obviously selected demographic and aired in 'your' country we were not getting into 'vanilla ice"... that would be all your fault, your responsibility and your shame. This was our offering to the art form. YW
Class album from start to end production is amazing too Bristol’s finest 😀
Massive Attack for ever. Greetings from Geneva 🇨🇭

I remember so clearly seeing this video on BBC2's Dance Energy with Normski, absolutely love the Blue Lines and Protection era stuff.
Amazing as always
Very smooth!
The drum loop in Madonna's Justify My Love matches this perfectly. Someone should mash-up the two.
:) Justify my Daydream! OMG that would be earcandy!
Sacrilege!
massive!! indeed. my best band of all time
Way ahead of their time.... 🤤
My fave Massive Attack track awesome
Big tune
awesome video and album
just perfect!!
I love everything these guys do peace
This is my fave massive attack song...that I've heard ;)
Pure geniuses!
Great song
30 years today...still Daydreaming...
In the mix❤
I love the beat.
I remember seeing the video for this back in the day on Dance Energy with Normski. I used to love that programme...
Love the Melodie
