Pretty extraordinary Luc! My hands got shot, so I'm terribly limited - but, having listened hard and long to the alternatives, it's pretty clear J-x is miles (or equivalent kilometers) ahead. Thanks for the run-through! Rohan
It is a very cool expansion. I use it with the tr8s and some raw eurorack vco’s. I did buy the Behringer SL 85S microphone for fun and I had quite some nice results.
This Vocal Designer goes back to the Vocal Designer of the Roland V-Synth GT. That isn't quite as powerful in terms of options (and probably sound quality) but it's user interface is so much better.
I purchased the Roland JunoDS just for the vocoder. By layering voice patches (edited) with the vocoder I can get some realistic choirs for my ambient music and include my vocal inflections or actual lyrics. I also add in more layers of vocal patches from a Korg Triton and have an external effect designed chain of delay/reverb/EQ because the JunoDS effects are not strong enough to complete the job. I have no need for any robot sounding voices, and don't like that sound either. For mic input it is going through a TC Helicon voice processor which gives me a good recording level and other options that is better than just using a mixer with phantom power.
iv been trying to find info on where the voice/vocoder blend parameter is. I could be wrong but when i first bought it years ago i could have sworn i was able to chose how much of my voice came through for even more legibility in the voice.
Apparently there is no way to stream external audio or load user samples into Roland Cloud yet in March 2023. So if you want to do that to have your own carrier wave you still need a hardwear VP-550, VP-770 or V-Synth.
I very much liked the video. But my question is what kind of microphone do you use? I am still working out the machine, but i love what i can do with it.👍👍👍
excellent video! Helped me navigate this as a new user.. Question: The AT pro 70 is a condenser mic. Did it not require phantom power which, if I'm not wrong, my Jupiter X doesn't have? Or does the pro 70 have it's own electrics? Thanks Luc!
Great video! Can you please provide me advise on the following: How do I setup the arpeggios on a Jupiter-X, so that they play independent from each other other multiple keyboard splits? I tried to setup keyboard ranges for each parts, but no matter what I do the arp's do not play independent. Play an arp on one split and it affects the arps on other split. It looks like the arps cannot be separated and are triggered by the entire keyboard, despite the key ranges. Thank you in advance.
Sadly, no. For now it is available on the Jupiter x and Xm as well as the Juno-x. No announcement about if another hardware device will be supporting it.
I think it was 80$. I’m not sure. The price disappear in Roland cloud manager after you bought it . Now it’s only shown “Owned” instead of the price. If you log in a free Roland cloud account, you will see the actual price in your country’s currency.
the disappointment with it is that you have to hold the keys down all the time so I wont be throwing my VT4 away yet unless I'm missing something here.
this is by far the most entertaining preset demo i've ever seen.
Luc is a really top musician and totally knows all of his equipment!

Thanks for this.Very helpful!
Seems like a must buy for Jupiter-X(M) owners.

For Juno x they don't have this expansion? I keep looking....
This isn't something i would use much in a track but it seems like a lot of fun.

Hey where did you find the different color faders and knobs?
Got them from Roland Canada.

The AT-70 has a pack were it goes from XLR to the small lab mic cable. In that pack we can put a battery so it works with any device.
Great video!

Thanks, very good video. Is this the same Vocal Designer that appears in the V Synth XT ?
No, it is a newer version .
It's pretty much the same thing I've experienced. Definitely not worth buying a Jupiter for that with that $ cloud thing..
I own The Jupiter Xm, How do i get this expansion.I don't understand how
Thanks
Is it free ? Sounds very good, Ben Liebrand could be using this for his Megamixes 😬
Do you know if there will be a Fantomversion of this and the JD800 Model?
Absolutely no insider info about that.
Would not ask for Insides!😉@@Nu-trix
Hey! Does it have the old VP-330 or SVC-350 model?
Yes it does!
Can you load vocal designer inside the the fantom 06 or fantom (flagship)?
Sadly, no. For now it is available on the Jupiter x and Xm as well as the Juno-x. No announcement about if another hardware device will be supporting it.
It s works for Juno x?
How much is the extension? Thanks

$149 USD. Ouch.

Have you never heard of a sustain pedal?!
Its Vocal Designer, not Voice Designer
