  • Luton Town prevailed 2-1 in their FA Cup third round replay away to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday evening to set up a tie away to Everton in the fourth round.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to break down the victory beginning with some faces they were delighted to see back in action.
The lads then go through the match as the Town came from behind to record a win over the League 1 side. All the key incidents over the course of the evening are picked out and discussed before a look ahead to the trip to Everton in the next round.
Once the FA Cup chat has concluded the boys turn their attention to the news of the last few days which includes the first signing of the transfer window and a first assessment of Luton Town's newly-published financial accounts.
All this and plenty more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

The Luton Town Supporters' Trust celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2023 year having been created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.
Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.
Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League.
The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.
We have defended the Club in the tough times and maintain a shareholding in the Club to ensure we are able to protect and celebrate the future. We act as custodian of the image rights of the Club - to protect the Club name, kit colours, Club crest and mascot for the long-term interests of the Club.
And like our Club, we have integrity. We believe in fair play and are committed to represent the fans and influence the regulation and its enforcement of football. And to collaborate with other Trusts to share our ideas, learn from best practice and presented a stronger voice to the authorities.
Join the Trust for as little as £10 a year (adults) and £5 for children and seniors.
We offer exclusive benefits, podcasts and meet the manager and players events and are committed to continually improving the experience of the Hatters’ fans, bringing the team closer to the fans and bringing the supporters’ voice into the boardroom, validating proposed activities and decisions that impact the fans.
We encourage the you to get involved, to enjoy the thrill (the ups and the downs!) of supporting Luton Town, and we raise money for both the fans and the community/charity, along with the Club, to help with immediate needs as we have seen during the recent COVID crisis, and to build a better future through significant capital projects.

I see Luton as a club we would like to aspire to, brilliant achievement to be where you are in the English leagues. For us although we ran you close I am relieved we are out of FA Cup, 10 games in 35 days is too much. Promotion is our aim hence why our average gate is 21K Good luck for the rest of the season.

we can hold our heads up high, just came up a little bit short where it really mattered.
to go toe to toe with arsenal, liverpool, man city ,newcastle and tottenham and give them a proper game, and NEVER give up speks volumes.
i'd be more disappointed with points dropeed from the likes of burnley and forest.

The population of Luton is 225,000 and Bolton has a population of 276.000. Bolton is the biggest town in England. Many smaller places are cities.

We had 19k against Cheltenham on the Saturday. 10k on the Tuesday night shows how little interest in 'premier league' luton we had.

At least get your facts right! Everton are not being punished for overspending on transfers or cheating to gain a sporting advantage we are being punished for being 20m in debt for stadium cost, which is not a sporting advantage and being deducted 10 points for something that has got nothing to do with on the pitch is insane! considering some clubs can spend a 1 billion which does give them a sporting advantage and get away with it.

Are you sure? Infrastructure costs do not count towards PSR

These are the facts as provided by the University of Liverpool. What other clubs do should certainly be investigated, but that doesn't mean those who break the rules should get a free pass.
Everton say that their overspend was brought about by unforeseen and unprecedented circumstances and they have further mitigation because of:
The war in Ukraine led Everton to severing financial ties with Alisher Usmanov’s holding company USM. On top of existing commercial deals they had with USM, they lost a potential naming rights deal for the new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock worth £200m.
Accounting and the new stadium: Everton borrowed money directly from their owner, Farhad Moshiri, to finance the new stadium which put them over the allowed limits, due to a quirk in accounting. If Everton had borrowed money through a bank and stated that the borrowing was to fund the stadium, they may have been closer to or been below the limit.
Covid: Everton spent a lot of money on players which they then found difficult to sell during this period. Though they admit an overspend on underperforming players, Everton argue that external factors which meant selling players difficult were beyond their control.

I didn’t think the stadium costs had anything to do with it.

@@EdPottsUKIt has, when the war in Ukraine occurred Usmanov the guy funding us for the most part couldn’t any more because of Russian links meaning we lost out on a lot of money going towards the stadium.
we haven’t been able to spend anything since then, we have had a positive net spend for the last 3 years, all the talk saying we spend lots is a joke 😂

I don’t know enough to comment, but the fact is rules have been broken and that surely has to include money spent on signings too?
I feel for the fans but rules are there for a reason.
Our current board were honest about a previous owners financial mismanagement and we got punished with a total of minus 40 points deduction which sent us to non league football, so I know how it feels.

Be seeing you in the champ next season.
We get 20,000 plus most home games, but a freezing cold evening at Bolton on a Tuesday evening, and no disrespect but against a bottom prem side you won't fill that stadium.
Bolton population is 300,000 plus, which is more than Luton population.
And your home capacity is 11,500, we nearly had that on Tuesday night😂😂😂over 10,000.
Sorry guys, your not that attractive to pull in 20,000 plus on a cold evening.

The fact the stadium is out of town in an area that's always a few degrees cooler, especially when the wind is blowing never helps. Add that into the snow and how bad roads where that night unless it was United, Liverpool or the like attendance was always going to be down on a normal matchday. Our average PL attendance never dropped below 20,000 and was over 25,000 in our 1st 5yrs back up under Sam. Even now in L1 I think we average over 18,000 but on a freezing midweek night was never going to happen.
I do wish them luck though, we can concentrate on those games in hand in the leauge and the cup we have a chance of winning. No team has won it twice in a row and another trip to Wembley to do that with promotion is better than a tie against Everton in my eyes.

You mean your fairweather supporters only turn up to support their team when the weather is nice and there's a chance of winning something. The word plastic comes to mind.
I dare say a large percentage of your supporters choose Manchester City as their first favourite team.
Yeah, you have a larger population and a bigger ground capacity and yet all you've got to show for it is a few Cup wins.
What have your club been doing with all their money??? What are they doing in League One???
Bolton fans think they're still a Premier League club. HaHaHa
