  • Once again the Town players left it all out there as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
    Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back at the Hatters’ first trip to the swanky new Spurs Stadium with the boys immediately acknowledging the surprise name on the team sheet before going through the 90 minutes and picking out all the key incidents.
    The boys touch on plenty of perspective while also discussing the current state of play with regards to injuries, personnel, the relegation picture and a whole lot more!
    All this and much more besides on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

    The Luton Town Supporters' Trust was created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.
    Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.
    Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League.
    The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
    In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.

    With you Kev, was almost happy to see Werner starting. Good analysis to see Chongy had Porro marked, didnt realise that change was the catalyst to Porro improving

    No question we must win our remaining home matches and keep damage limitations against Arsenal and City. Unfortunate not to snatch something against Spurs really and the injuries keep coming. I swear the referee had a bet365 placed for nothing booking a Spurs player for 90 minutes, as he was quick to show the card to Barkley, Burke and Mpanzu but kept them in his pocket for the many bookable challenges Spurs made.
    Barkley is just sublime with the pass and Townsends ball in was brilliant. Given the makeshift side, respectable losing 2-1 to Spurs. Midfield was really poor for the second goal, leaving so much space and perhaps from our corner, we could have tried and kept the ball rather than give it away. Felt sorry for Kaboré with the own goal but nothing he could do about it. James is right, other teams just sit back and wait for Luton to implode and we did. Such a shame but COYH!!

    I would like to know why the players are taking so long to get over sustained injuries, I begin to question the capability of the medics/ physios . I really hope we can get some players back really soon COYH 🧡

      They are medics and physios of human beings Jenny not mechanics of a car! Believe me our physios/backroom team work night and day to keep our players as fit as possible but sometimes the body doesn't comply. Sadly too many bodies are at breaking point for us to cope :(

      Thank you for your reply , it’s worrying that our players are falling thick and fast , with no idea of progress or returns , so disappoint that Marvellous hasn’t regained fitness 😢

    Kevin, James all im going to say is you should just make a pre recording pod cast to say we nearly got points then you can spend more time down the pub drowning sorrows. Rob Edwards can do the same instead of the same post match over and over and over again.

    Unlucky is what we was at the weekend especially with our injury crisis, but Jim or Kev may I ask your opinion on why we brought in Elliot Thorpe from Tottenham who was tagged as a future star player for the spurs who is only 23 and has played for the Wales under 21's and who also has played really well for us when given the game time is not getting a look in at all , is this gonna be another Joe Morrell situation where he gets no game time for us but played in the Euros and the world cup for Wales ??

    • @KevinHarper-ry5vf
      @KevinHarper-ry5vf 6 месяцев назад +1

      There's a few parts to this. The first part is he's injured anyway which probably won't surprise you given our injury record! Outside of that though, he was signed as one for the future in the Championship so we've kind of outgrown that plan and if he is to play CM for us he's competing with the likes of Barkley, Clark, Pelly, Sambi, Marvelous, Berry etc etc and at RWB we've other options there too. If the worst happens and we go down I suspect you'll see Thorpe (and Louie Watson) in pre-season at the very least.

      @@KevinHarper-ry5vfhi kev thanks for your reply , I know Thorpe's injured who isn't for us lol 😂 but he's still a really good player when he gets on and yh we defo grew out of a championship mentality when we got promoted but when you see the amount of youngsters playing for some big clubs in big games in the premier league this season I just think we've missed a trick I really do and Thorpe came in with so much praise like he's a future premier League star player not championship star player and like I said it could be a Joe Morrell situation again and that's a worry , can't get into the squad but played at 2 major tournaments !!!!

    Despite your excuses l still maintain that Luton made a bad error of judgement in not signing a replacement for Lockyer in January.

    • @welcome2mytruth
      @welcome2mytruth 6 месяцев назад +2

      No doubt they tried but they couldn't sign anyone because the players they wanted didn't want to sign, or demanded stupid money.

    • @lutontownsupporterstrust

      Who would you have signed?

    • @jeffreymarks5439
      @jeffreymarks5439 6 месяцев назад

      You will remember that in January we did sign a centre back from Reading but we then loaned him back.If you expect me as an individual to have a full analysis of quality defenders in the UK and abroad that is frankly ludicrous.However l would expect the LT recruitment department to have access to that type of information. I don't accept your statement that it was near impossible to recruit in January. The example you cite of Newcastle was probably influenced by FFP considerations.l@@lutontownsupporterstrust

      @@lutontownsupporterstrustWe clearly fish in a different pool from the big clubs as has been shown by our signings. Who would have thought we would have signed Hashioka or even heard of him? But we do know from what the club has said we were close to signing at least one other so we were obviously putting energy into looking which looks to have been a sensible business decision.
