Still the same voice after all these years. Chris looks into camera like Dougal from father ted at the beginning. Just a brilliant composition and such a complex chord progression. And its taken me 30 years to appreciate it fully. Takes me right back to my late teens. Fond memories. Cheers guys.
Thanks for this,,,,wow last time I heard Jim Kerr Squeeze was new, I was in High School or something in NY. These guys are great! The Spot the Difference album clips sound great and it sounds like they are working on new material. The new Squeeze lineup also the Keyboardist and Drummer from Glen's recent group the Fluffers - they've been putting on some great shows over the years but it will be great to see Squeeze again.
Always loved this song, it's great to hear the acoustic version but does anyone agree that he should pick and choose when to play the riff... seems a bit redundant to just keep playing the riff throughout the whole song.. maybe reserve it for the chorus or something? Just saying... Glen's voice still gives me goosebumps though...
Always amused by the Carrack v Tilbrook vocals arguments on this classic track. So few seem to point out they BOTH sang on it. Carrack takes the 1st verse Tilbrook the 2nd (so a great way to compare) so probably explains why it appeals to so many. I think Carrack is technically the better singer but Tilbrook totally owns the song in pure soul/earthiness.
Glenn doesn't do the entire 2nd verse....Elvis Costello and Chris Difford also chime in and then Carrack does the 3rd verse entirely....Costello helped produce the album along with Roger Bechirian with help from Dave Edmunds, and it was a group decision to modify the 2nd verse like that....as for Carrack being the technically "better" singer..that's tough to call...I've heard Tilbrook live on many occassions (the only true test) and he's always spot on.....Studio recordings can cover a lot of sins (ie Don Henley for example)..and that's not to dispute Carrack's greatness (ie The Living Years).....
@@dinopappous6639 Thanks for the correction re 2nd verse. Totally get your point but I still stick to my original comment (having heard Carrack live also + video recordings of live performances). I say that totally loving Tilbrook and totally agree his live recordings/performances - one of the rare performers who can play live AND actually sound better than edited studio. You can tell just how he plays this - absolute confidence and technical ability - I mean those chord progressions he makes seem SO simple. As I said what makes it for me is his soulfulness/expression: it's like I love Billie Holiday and think she is the greatest female singer as no one matches her for soul/expression/interpretation yet others slate me as they say Ella Fitzgerald /Sarah Vaughan are better technical singers. I know probably gone totally off the point but just trying to provide an example of what I'm trying to say about Tilbrook v Carrack.
Personally I prefer Glenn singing this song over Carrack. While he is a great singer and a great musician in his own right, Paul Carrack is not Squeeze. He was only in the band briefly as a replacement keyboard player in the absence of Jools Holland. Glenn singing gives the song more of a Squeeze flavor.
Love this song.Isn`t it odd that their piano player is now the most famous person in the band, with a top rated show on the BBC?Jools Holland is an amazing player, though.
Love them boys! Even minus Carrack the song just transcends performance and enters the reptile brain as lyrical passion, But ids this the same Jim Kerr or Simple Minds? Surely not.
It's a copyright thing....it is a skip that is built into the playback (happens again at 2:02 and at 2:52) to make it "different" from the copyright protected original....they may not own the copyrights (or perhaps didn't at the time, that's why theydid "Spot the Difference" album) ...Imagine not being able to play your own music without having to pay some record company if you broadcast it on a media outlet.....Ridiculous (another great Squeeze album)....
Well they're different....I mean, Glenn invited Paul to join so certainly he didn't feel insecure or threatened by the inclusion of Paul...They are different with perhaps Paul sounding more "masculine" (ie Paul Rodgers) and Tilbrook sounding more "feminine" (Paul McCartney)....
I Love you Guys ...... Tempted .......I have Tears of Joy and Inspiration from this song..........Thank you,
AWSOME my favorite Squeeze song and loved the acoustic version
Glenn’s voice is magic
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻 thank you for the throwback
This is such a fantastic song... can't wait to see the boys live next month.
Thanks for getting up Chris.
Fabulous. Will work my way through these gems x

sweet mother of god, that voice!
the best pop song
@@planetmoon5817 Pulling mussels is better. He does sound like Darryl Hall here a little.
What a great duo Glenn sounds so good after all these years no cracking in his voice love them squeeze rocks
I was thinking the same thing. Guy has got a super clear voice! Usually at that age they sound like Roger Daltry singing drunk at a karaoke bar.
Lol
Leslie Johnson s
that was awsome thank you ,some real sol...mmm loved it.
Tillbrook incredible
Brilliant!! Age is just a number for these guys! Still amazing!
Glenn is amazing
Loving this! Thanks tmbgrbf!

stunning and simple, perfect
Wow. That was chilling! I know this was done in 2010 but at that time they still got it!!
I LOVE Q 104.3 :D can't stop listening to them... they play the best music there is :)
7.50am!! Well sung indeed Mr Tilbrook
Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford perform a great version of "Tempted"
On Difford's new boxed set, he sings the song, too. Glenn is hands over fist the best vocalist of the three.
this is awesome ;)
Still got it 😜
Goosebumps
phenomenal
Brilliant tune!
Wow 👍
That lady probably doesn't realize just how lucky she is to be sitting next to these artists. Awesome.
That is Shelly Sunsteine. I think she is well aware of her fortune.
Great song. Idk what’s with the weird edits though
Cheers.. Great..just love acoustic.. anything live
Holy fuck this was good!!
The man from Uncle 60s tv show of music
I comepletely forgot Paul Carrack was the original lead on this, they did it so well. Props.
Carrack did most of the vocals but Tilbrook did a fair share (together with Elvis Costello , Chris Difford and John Bentley)
Brilliant
Top band
What's with the skipping?
Copyright protection

Bad conversion I’d guess

@@donaldpolson5450 you can't go wrong with either one
I don’t agree that Carrack is technically better, Glenn Tilbrook is an absolutely faultless singer, and I much prefer his voice.

Fuck the quality of the video...this is that STUFFFFF!!

But he didn't play piano for them on this recording originally...that was Carrack....
I hope everyone realizes that Paul carrack sang this song in squeeze, and if you don't know who he is Wikipedia him and he will blow your mind
Love them boys! Even minus Carrack the song just transcends performance and enters the reptile brain as lyrical passion, But ids this the same Jim Kerr or Simple Minds? Surely not.
Jim Kerr is the name of the Q 104 DJ in NY (Radio Station DJ)
At 2.10 I’m sure he gives Chris a look to say wtf are you not
singing the woo..ooo..ooo backing vocal !!!???
anyone know a video that teaches or shows between 00:27 and 00:37
Fortugence.
Am I mistaken or does Glen have a huge bell end trying to burst out of his shorts?
Maybe it's a breakfast sandwich...
Chris Difford kind of looks like Peter Gabriel here, no? Especially at 00:24.
Sam Samuels often
What happens around 1:11 ?

i give up,can"t work out the chords help!!!
Haha Glenn in his sandals...
Singing? Playing instruments? Writing songs? This just won't do.
Get them off the radio quick.
Chris Is a Proud Boy?
he looks like that piers guy now
Would love to nail Glenn!
Technically, he would be nailing you .....unless you're into "pegging" (if that's so, he would also have to be willing..I guess)....
I think there's a queue of bangees for the girl on the left.
Chris looks so pissed off.
They said in the intro that he was sick.
No one ducked?
The editing is terrible. Spoiled a great performance, same with the other songs the guys performed for this radio show. Arrrggh. 😡
Too frantic, a foreign rendition.
sorry fellas but paul carracks voice is miles better........
MegaJasperdog why compare them you king of twits?
Well they're different....I mean, Glenn invited Paul to join so certainly he didn't feel insecure or threatened by the inclusion of Paul...They are different with perhaps Paul sounding more "masculine" (ie Paul Rodgers) and Tilbrook sounding more "feminine" (Paul McCartney)....
Would be fair to hear Carrack live and then "judge"....would probably be closer than you think.....
