Yes, and he's still at it. His most recent is an awesome big band album -- "Don't Wait Too Long" by Paul Carrack and the SWR Big Band, released in 2023
Seen him twice. He'll sell out in 12 hours when announcing the venue.
This is a vocal masterpiece. Everything about this song is fantastic

Glen Tillbrook did this song at a solo gig in my hometown and he told the audience to sing the entire song while he played guitar. I was in the audience and we sang the entire song word for word. He loved it as much as we did.

One of the most underrated vocalists ever, IMO.
Carrack , Tilbrooke and Difford don't get half the credit they deserve, but neither do so many other stupendously talented people . Such is life.

Just like his compatriot, another PC, Peter Cox, of Go West fame. He also has that Blue-eyed Soul vice which Carrack was praised for. I would admit though that Carrack can hit those high notes even better than Coxy. I like both of them alike though

This is a Difford Tilbrook affair. A matter for Squeesze to live through. East Side Stories was produced by a Vampire, Not George Martin
This is a classic recording. In the second verse, when the band shares vocals, each member with a distinctly different voice, we witness something most rarely done. Very powerful.

Paul Carrack sang lead on "How Long" by Ace, "The Living Years" by Mike + The Mechanics, "Don't Shed a Tear" by himself, and this all-time gem. What a legacy.

My daughter could sing this when she was 18 months old. It’s the music, not the words. She’s almost 31 now, still dancing to her own drum. So proud!

man, this is one of the purest vocal performances of all time... Carrack stole the show, even though he was barely a member of the band and the song was written by Tilbrook & Difford.

Originally Tillbrook was to sing the lead, but producer Elvis Costello had Carrack try it and decided he liked it for the recording. I agree as it gives the song such tonal variety.

Initially a bit confused. But blimey it is Paul Carrack, no mistake really.
Another fun fact: the album was produced by Elvis Costello. The backing band on Elvis’ first album was an American band called Clover. That band was the beginning of Huey Lewis and the News.
Love the four of them taking turns singing the second verse and then the backing harmonies. As fresh as it was released 43 years ago.

Of all the magnificent tracks by Squeeze, this is perhaps the most sublime.
As a 49 year old I was drawn to this video as a young kid envying Paul singing as those beautiful females danced beside him.

What makes this song so good is the complex chord structure. There's some pretty way out chords in this that work so well as a sequence in combination with the bass line.
It worked so well though! I love this song because of its complexity as a "pop" song or blues song
It's a real one-off, structurally. Very hard to jam along with!
For a normal unmusical person who can't figure out a chord progression it doesn't feel "complex". Just one of those few songs that is 11 on a scale from 0 to 10.
It really is a truly exceptional song, McCartney - esque in it's simple/complex nature. And a BASTARD to play.
This song always reminds me of the scene in Reality Bites when Winona Ryder and Janeane Garofalo sing it in the car right before Ben Stiller crashes into them.

This was on the radio the other day...damn good track. Squeeze are one of those bands that write some very clever and funny lyrics that hit home...they've written some classics over the years..
