Lyrics
A cloud appears above your head
A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.
The cloud is moving nearer still.
Aurora borealis comes in view
Aurora comes in view.
And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.
Music video by A Flock Of Seagulls performing I Ran. (c) 1982 Zomba Productions Limited - Видеоклипы
Back then, we couldn't wait to get to the future. Now, we just want to go back.
That may be true. But even being there, like we were, would we like it back then now?
You wouldn't be in the market for a time travel machine... would you?
Why is your comment not NUMBER 1. 😍😍😂
Sad in'nit?
The 80's and 90's were the future, we're now living in the post-future decline.
What a time to live in the 80's...New Wave music, hanging out at the Mall, video game archades, Friday night clubs after work, going to matinee movies, VCRs, Walkmans, afordable buffet restaurants, LateNight with David Letterman and SNL in it's golden years. No division, no lockdowns just a whole lot of fun and positivity...singing "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades!"
I would add Jay Leno to your list. The rest is spot on 👍👍
So true.i wish I could go back.
I was a teen back then, so no clubbing yet. But Blockbuster on the weekends, boombox, Ponderosa & Sizzler, Chuck E Cheese, watch tv shows like Airwolf, Knight Rider, A Team. Drank out of the hot garden hose. No worries about getting kidnap or anything. Scratch n sniff stickers.
I too was a teenager, 13 in 1981. best decade to be a teen here in the UK. 80's Indie ftw

There are certain 80's songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.

Very much so
Maybe not definitely one of them for me, but it is one of them.

Then when i come to a red light i realize im looking like a giant jackass, a 6'6 black man singing to an 80's electronic rock song. Can't help it though, something about this song and cruising down the road with the windows down gets me hype.

To be honest if I saw anyone with 80s electronic music playing in the car, I would have mad respect for them.
blacc beard My arm would stretch across three lanes to give you a high five.
+blacc beard . . . Sounds like you've got a little skinny white punk trying to get out ! Better beware they're vicious buggers if let loose.
blacc beard who cares? Watch September in a movie called the Intouchables. The black guy's a GREAT dancer (in another clip, also Earth, Wind and Fire) but a horrifically bad singer :) I do like that it's not Auto-tuned, tho. It makes it real. I sing professionally, and I like the off-key one better than I would the fake one. :)
besides, black guy's are ALWAYS cool! Look at the Gap Band. They play so well, no one noticed they'd look insane if they were white :) ! And being told your music/voice "sounds like a black musician" is a huge compliment.
