As I get older, I now understand how my Dad felt blasting songs from the 50's/60's on the stereo when I was a kid. It's a reminder of an easier time. Miss you Dad.
BTW my brother and I love all good music from 20s/30s/40s/50s/60s/70s/80s/90s. We are young 15+ and 25+ . Great music never getting old
It’s crazy how good the old songs are
Far away
That's because these songs of the 1980's have soul and meaning in them. And the music is the best ever over even the 1970's. Just awesome time would go back in a heart beat over this time if I could. Best years 1982-1986 for me as I am now 51. Yikes 49's years left and it seems as if the years just keep going faster and faster compared to the 1980's which seemed to last forever.

Oh the feelings of nostalgia this song brings up. Driving down a long stretch of dark roads in the summer, windows down and hair blowing in the wind. Feeling alive for the first time in years as I drove myself out of a 17 year
abusive relationship, excited to find what life had in store for me. This song will always be the anthem of my escape for me.
Love that for you x
Well done you, takes so much courage and strength! All the best to you ❤️
I am sorry you had to go through that. Hope things are so much better now
you know this is a song about sex with groupies?
@@johngross688 wow. Never knew that . That's pretty interesting. For me in my flight from my old life it resonated in so many different ways. When he sings "Try to stop my hands from shakin, something in my mind's not making sense. It's been a while since we've been all alone, I can't hide the way I'm feeling".. every single word hit deep in what I was going through...I was shaking like a leaf and hadn't ever been all alone as an adult...I couldn't help the way I was feeling scared but excited to live life happy. That's why music is so important to us, it brings out different emotions in different people based on our experiences. Classic song!

Man, the entire 80s decade was just phenomenal. What a great decade for music, movies, pop culture.
My childhood years, there was definitely a distinct magic in the air and all over Pop culture, especially music. I feel lucky that i got to be a kid during such a unique decade.
Yes!
Absolutely nothing like it. It was so bright and vibrant. I'm not taking away from the horrors of the world - the AIDS crisis alone was staggering. But every decade has those things. Not every decade has The Outfield singing one of the greatest 80s songs of all time. The acoustic version is amazing, too.
sooooo true
And crack 😂
I was working my 1st job at a Country club at 16 years old when I first heard this.. They always jammed this for the wedding receptions and the graduation parties…lol I was the only black kid in that place but it introduced me to another genre of music and how to vibe with people outside of my norm. I appreciate it
I had the same but the other way around.
I am Dutch ( white ) but moved to the US, New Jersey in the 80's.
I was in Public school and heard RUN DMC for the first time, some black kid with a Boom Box on his shoulder, just like in a movie.
That really hit me hard and had a lasting impression. Loved hiphop and breakdance ever since. Bought their cassette tape that same week and played it 24/7.
What a time that was. Loved it 🔥

Espectacular
Please, someone, bring back masterpieces like this to malls and public places and concerts
There’s good music being made today but it’s doesn’t have hundreds of millions views and a 40 year legacy so you might have to look a bit harder. Also since the nature of how music is made has changed so drastically there are more people making subpar music but that doesn’t necessarily mean good artists are a thing of the past. Just my two cents.

A band like Fall Out Boy or Pearl Jam/ Dave Grohl should add songs like these to their set list. Keep great music alive plus add to their already huge fan bases
@@onlinepole not trying to be rude but that makes no sense. I say that because a band like Pearl Jam has never been a part of what would be considered pop music like this. The members of Pearl Jam and Dave Grohl often pay tribute to their influences through cover songs and bringing the artists on tour with them. One of the Ramones last tours was with Pearl Jam at a time when the former was at the end of their career.
Eddie Vedder and Dave Grohl have cited plenty of influences and would probably think The Outfield made some good songs but it's two totally different worlds
Amazing history lesson! dudes will always be one of a kind!
@@onlinepole Dave Grohl is not a band... And it makes no sense for established musicians to cover somebodys material. Sure, there is such thing as a tribute but don't expect them to add any foreign song to their setlist. I love the Outfield but the idea that well known musicians should just add somebody other's hits to their repertuaire is ridiculous.

It's mostly because you're usually hearing the really popular and timeless classics that are good. Don't forget the 80s also had its fair share of crap, it's just that noone remembers the bad songs. Same will inevitably happen to a lot of current music.

Use your love, lose your love, your love!
I don't want to lose your love tonight
(I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna)
Lose your love tonight (your love)
Lose your love tonight (your love)
Lose your love tonight (your love)
(Lose your) I don't want to lose your love tonight
Thank you 🙏
Contagiante esse refrão
I get it........
If this song was retrofitted for 2024 audiences, given the lyrics, the subject matter which is not exactly angelic or wholesome there would be far more profanity😂😂😂
Gracias ❤️❤️
This will forever be in the top 10 80's songs. Everytime this song kicks on, you get transported to the 80's. So good.
Likes were stuck at 79... so I had to put it into the 80z
definitely not top 10, theres too many masterpieces made in the 80s
@@outsidechambaz No it's TOP TEN.FACT.
@@saltlife2547 I disagree, factually
@@outsidechambaz Can't knock you there. There really are so many greats. I should have said one of my top 10. Just for the rush of nostalgia everytime I hear it. More of a feeling based opinion lol
It's amazing when you stop to realize this song is now 40 years old and still sounds fresh. One thing that gives 80's music staying power is the sound quality. Still sounds great on a good stereo or a good set of earphones/earbuds.
I am 63 still young for ever
That's the spirit! ❤
Bop dat !
Still a timeless 80’s classic.
Was An Amazing Time 😎
@@darrinkulyk9560Everything was good
Sometimes I want to go back in time and experience different eras like this one.
However, I’m happy I got to see the Internet at its prime awesomeness before companies took it over.
So many flash games and memes, RUclips was about the community, Mario Kart Wii online.
I’m thankful I never missed it.
Rip Tony Lewis, we're losing all of our times bests. 80s rocked!!
It's been 40 years, time passes and people as well
IKR im so sad, that generation is dying :(
JOSIE’S ON A VACATION FAR AWAY, COME AROUND AND TALK IT OVER 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Listening in May 2024!!!
Rock on forever!❤
The 70,s 80,s and the 90,s had the best music in my opinion
lance barrilleaux Don't forget the 60s my friend :)
Spider-Man the Beattles, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Credeence, Rolling Stones, The Who.
MYMBOLICHES Yep
lance barrilleaux 50s thru 90s
I think it started in the 50s I never heard of music from the 40s
Em 2024 !!
Take me back to the summer of 89
That opening riff brings me chills. What music can do to emotions is unmatched
same!
What part of East Ky, I tell people all the time Eastern KY is a magical place . I am a sorghum baby.
Too true; it's why I always play this version. Proof as has been said, music is the language of the soul.
@@thehistoryguru7796 it indeed is
It can really take you back in time
In special memory of my brother Michael's 1st anniversary today taken so young from the devastating evil that is cancer. He played this song every single day especially the last few months/days of his life, watching him literally suffer everyday from stage 4. The power of music hits extra heavy today, this beautiful symbolic track is dedicated to you today, R.I.P big brother until the day we reunite and rock again 🙏❤
I have cancer myself right now, I get it. Im not even 50 yet. I play this song almost everyday too. Bless you.
@@agnesgallagher8641 I am truly sorry to hear, I hope life gets better, and you are able to make a recovery from this... My brother was actually a little less than 4 months shy of his 50th birthday... God bless you as well, keep the fight, and try to stay strong always 🙏
My deepest condolences to you and family
Sorry for your loss, my friend. Here is to Michael *raises glass*, and may you both be reunited one day. I can't imagine how devastating it must be to lose someone so close but his spirit will live on through you and your memories of him, and sharing them with others. ❤️
@@agnesgallagher8641 Bless you too, keep up the good fight. I wish you all the best with your recovery.
Old is the new us.
The sound of voice that was only possible in the 80's
The way they harmonize together, chills
And none of that auto tune stuff
The human voice is so amazing 🤩 especially when everyone is singing the right notes
@@AnthonyDevore-kr4uf yes
A lost art
might I recommend Tally Hall to you fellas, they might be a bit quirky for your tastes and that's fine but I figured I'd mention them since they harmonize very often and always do so in such a beautiful way
No autotune needed or available. Crushed it.
Right?!
Much magic done in the studio, in those days we would use a horn tube, similar to auto tune. Leads voice is incredible, I do believe I hear that device on the lead vocal. Incredible nonetheless
People who've never been in the studio be like:
@@donyeerodrigo7394Eventide's harmonizer was also used extensively for pitch correction.
@@Arcessitor I've recorded 41 albums. ;~)
