That's because these songs of the 1980's have soul and meaning in them. And the music is the best ever over even the 1970's. Just awesome time would go back in a heart beat over this time if I could. Best years 1982-1986 for me as I am now 51. Yikes 49's years left and it seems as if the years just keep going faster and faster compared to the 1980's which seemed to last forever.

I just turned 50 in September 2024 and will confirm to anyone out there kind enough to read this comment that I miss the 80s and early 90s really effin bad. This song instantaneously pulls me back over 35 years to a time in my life when I thought that never in a million years I would be so painfully desperate to go back to. If you have read my words, regardless of whoever you are or wherever you are, you have helped me to heal, and that makes you one of my heroes. For real and from the heart, thank you for being here with me in this video. ♥️⭐️🏁🏁🏁💯

My childhood years, there was definitely a distinct magic in the air and all over Pop culture, especially music. I feel lucky that i got to be a kid during such a unique decade.
Absolutely nothing like it. It was so bright and vibrant. I'm not taking away from the horrors of the world - the AIDS crisis alone was staggering. But every decade has those things. Not every decade has The Outfield singing one of the greatest 80s songs of all time. The acoustic version is amazing, too.
As I get older, I now understand how my Dad felt blasting songs from the 50's/60's on the stereo when I was a kid. It's a reminder of an easier time. Miss you Dad.
Much magic done in the studio, in those days we would use a horn tube, similar to auto tune. Leads voice is incredible, I do believe I hear that device on the lead vocal. Incredible nonetheless
Rest in peace, Tony. I’m 26 years old and this is my jam since my uncle played this song every Saturday in the morning while he was washing his car when I was a kid.
It's a shame we don't realize the most significant times in our lives because they didn't seem that significant at the time. All we have are the sights, sounds, and smells that can transport us back so we can remember. This song reminds me of when I was a kid going on trips with my dad. I can remember hearing it on the radio. Unfortunately, I believe this is as close to traveling back in time we will ever get. Our time machine will have to remain in our heads and hearts. I can live with that that because for those 4 minutes and 12 seconds I had my dad back. I will always come back and listen to this song. Whoever reads this feel free to like and or comment. It always brightens my day. Who knows, you might just catch me on the day I needed to hear this song.

@@thatsubieguy8988 Beg to differ. 80s had everything the 70s had and more. It was the last decade to build on the previous one. Sadly it's been all downhill ever since.
God bless you sir! And gob bless your generation they don't make them like you all anymore. Same with the music. I'm 32 and the old music is just so much better!
I'm 28, this music was before my time. But whenever I hear this, along with some other great tunes from the 80s and 90s, it makes me feel nostalgic for something I never had.
I loved this band from the start! I was shortly out of boot camp in the navy when this hit the radio and had just scored my first cd player when I worked as a cook in the pilots wardroom galley aboard the USS Eisenhower and played this album constantly while working excited about finding another great band to listen to! GREAT LEGENDARY STUFF!!!! Rip Tony & John
Thank you all for your service to the United States Government and the people of the United States. I'm a hippy pacifist and look forward to when the soldiering profession is permanently made obsolete by machines and new kinds of Strong Persuaders, i support the ending of hostilities in Urkraine and Russia immediately, i favor paying Russian soldiers to desert and inviting them to become, along with ukrainians with an interest legal immigrants to the USA
One of my fondest memories of my mother driving me to school after getting donuts and letting me blast this song all the way to the school parking lot. Memories...👍🎸😊
You can tell it's the Outfield playing with the first few seconds. They had such a distinctive sound and vocals. They should have been Alot more Famous . The 80s were the best for virtually everything. Such a shame John and Tony are gone , back to the Rhythm that we all came from . Godspeed Both of you.
Back to the good old days mid 1985 the outfield playing on the radio 24/7 and almost 40 years late some people are still enjoying this song. Thanks The Outfield for this great song!!!
vxy357 Boy I feel old. I had just gotten out of the navy after a 7 year stint. And I went into the navy after I graduated from college. You do the math.
For me you could say I’m biased but when I think of the 80s I think of this song as well as everybody wants to rule the world. My all time favorite songs and I’m 20. You should check out Greta Van Fleet! That group is special and they are only in their early to middle 20s
+Johnny Boone I'm just 18 now and I wish I got the chance to experience this type of music when it was new and still of great presence. I love this type of music and hope it lives on forever which is why my band makes this styled type of music
I absolutely love that today's generation is embracing these awesome 80's tunes, the mullets, the fashion. 80's girl through and through and I'm loving this, makes me happy.
Well, the world is a lot more accepting nowadays and everyone can wear, like and be however they want, it's all coming together. I was born in 2003, but I find myself listening to both modern and oldies everyday, doesn't matter if even one person thinks is weird, those are amazing and deserve to be blasted at 100% volume and be know by folks who are the same age range as me.
They sure are. I cant decide what car I really want right now. I love Nova’s Porches, Camaro’s, chevelle’s and Buick's. I hope you one day get your dream car. Im building a 1975 Buick Lesabre 1/2 scale pedal powered car. Just started it a few weeks ago. Got lights, switches, neon kits, body and all that stuff coming in, got some of it already. scratch built a steering arm and mounted my racing wheel to it so I can begin the steering column and front axle arm. I pretty much know everything I need to do.
Im 90s kid born in 84 i can say that 80s and 90s were best songs best movies best people best times best friend best playground best birthday partys best bbq best life ever i miss it so much you cant understand unless you are from that period of time bless you all
I'm also a kid from the 90s. I totally understand what you're saying! Here in Brazil it was incredible too. Parties, barbecues, family lunches, my grandmother's house always full, uncles, cousins, all together! With the arrival of the fucking social network, with its slogan: "bringing distant people closer together..." Damn it may even be true, but today it pushes people close to you apart... that's so bad
This was one of my favorite albums back in the day and still is. Start to finish, for a debut album its amazing. As we start 2025 I still can't fathom we've lost 3 of the 5 band members/touring members: Tony Lewis - Lead/bass, John Spinks - Lead guitar - vocals, & Reg Web - touring keyboardist. Fun fact - the second guitarist seen in the videos is Grahame Leslie - friend of the band and touring member.
What really impress me is the fact that this song wasn’t the most played on the radio in its time, amazing songs were released every week on those years.
RIP Tony Lewis, amazing vocal range, and John Spinks what a riffer, very sad that both these brilliant musicians are gone but what a legacy to leave behind. 🤘🏻🔥⛅
A band like Fall Out Boy or Pearl Jam/ Dave Grohl should add songs like these to their set list. Keep great music alive plus add to their already huge fan bases
@@onlinepole not trying to be rude but that makes no sense. I say that because a band like Pearl Jam has never been a part of what would be considered pop music like this. The members of Pearl Jam and Dave Grohl often pay tribute to their influences through cover songs and bringing the artists on tour with them. One of the Ramones last tours was with Pearl Jam at a time when the former was at the end of their career. Eddie Vedder and Dave Grohl have cited plenty of influences and would probably think The Outfield made some good songs but it's two totally different worlds
@@onlinepole Dave Grohl is not a band... And it makes no sense for established musicians to cover somebodys material. Sure, there is such thing as a tribute but don't expect them to add any foreign song to their setlist. I love the Outfield but the idea that well known musicians should just add somebody other's hits to their repertuaire is ridiculous.
Chale!! Semanas atras, Eddie Van Halen, hoy, Tony Lewis! Se nos estan yendo las figuras musicales con quienes crecimos... quienes forman parte de nuestra vida.

If I was a doorman to the 80s I wouldn't let today's woke generation in, they'd only spoil it

The opening guitar solo and lyric are unmatched, pure directed energy.

I know! I've always loved this song. Makes me feel nostalgic!

Amazing history lesson! dudes will always be one of a kind!
The 80s, great music, great night life, great friends. We had it all and didn't even know it.
