When the government spends $1.7 million on a small public bathroom or almost a million dollars for one apartment to shelter one homeless person, either they are incompetent or something really fishy is going on. Every government agency should be audited regularly by independent nonprofit auditors.
Actually, it's both.
The graft is real.
Yup...$1 M to shelter homeless means these people have poor judgement. But in addition, perhaps worse, they cannot make tough decisions and cost-effective.In FDR's day, they would have set up tent camps with cots/blanket with field kitchens, food, water, garbage, sewer. And they would added social services, online job/ video assistaance. Today, you would add TV and internet, and game rooms. But it would be located in a rural area away from everybody, on cheap land. But nowadays, they put a first rate apartment in an expensive urban area and wonder why it costs to much. The Activists would call tent camping inhumane....because they are soft entitled weasels who are good at spending a lot of other people's money..
It's called land value
yah its kinda like how, if you want a law passed, they tell you it takes years upon years to pass a law, when the government could just.......pass a law, like that
Sounds like SF in a nutshell-an overpriced toilet
For 1.7 mill I'd at least expect a robotic butler to wipe my butt and clean the entire bathroom after every use.. That's outrageous.
😂😂😂
😅😅🙏
Minimum will be a Japanese smart toilet from the likes of manufacturers like Toto.
$100,000 for land, $50,000 for construction, $50,000 for plumbing, $25,000 for permits, fees etc, $1,500,000 for bribes and graft.
Plumbing really 50,000 that’s outrageous?!
@@fumedchristitsproven1781 it’s just an example if I’m not mistaken. Either way it shouldn’t cost nearly that much to build a small building like that.
City owns the land so there's no fee there.
Politicians and those contractors are related
exactly what i thought fishy stuff
bingo! this is the answer. architecture fees alone were $300k and base construction contract was $750k, its a freaking toilet for crying out loud
Someone definitely pocketed some money
They couldn't be corrupt for less.
someone from the city hall added an extra 0 on that $170,000 Public Toilet cost. lmao
Yup, & it probably only costs $170,000 or less, the rest is being pocketed so one of these politicians can buy a new yacht or something 🛥️
Our governments across the Bay Area have no boundaries at to what is unreasonable.
Pile taxes and regulations on top of others.
These guys can't even figure out that $1.7 in unreasonable, and had to cancel at the last moment.
This should be a wake up call to oppose all sort of govenment expenses they try to pile on us
Dude its obviously just corruption, someones uncle owns a company etc etc. Has nothing to do with government inefficiency. If the government owned a public works construction company then there would be no room for that kind of corruption.
Because they know no matter wha they do people will still vote for them because theyve conditioned the ppl with “party loyalty” , we the best u got mentality.
All they cancelled was the press conference, the ignorant part is blaming the cost on PG&E. What does a energy supplier have to do with building a toilet. Other than supplying energy needed for equipment.
@@ActionableFreedom Dude, if the government owned the public works construction company nothing would ever get done. You've obviously never worked for government.
Democrats in office.
1.7 million flushed down the toilet
For 1.7mil, that bathroom better be a spaceship
$1.7 Million!!!! Suspicious!!!! Review your city’s Budget and Capital Improvement Plan!
Check the politicians pockets 😅
It's spelled "Corruption"
Greed just can't help it self.
If the streets of SF look and smell like a stock yard, how long before the inside of this thing looks and smells the same way, hence clean people (the ones who paid for and built it) won’t step foot in it. 6 months after this is built do you think Nancy and Pauline would use it?
Yup, basic human nature
$75,000 for just the building? That’s such a gross amount and yet also a mere faction of the price. What does all the rest of the money go to?
San Francisco "leadership" (or lack thereof) in a nutshell. Overpriced and underwhelming. No wonder the city has gone off a cliff
I'm all for this as long as the officials behind this have to use the bathroom as their office.
Corruption at its highest !
That john gives you something to sit down and think about!
Damn, it makes Sonoma Counties 800K toilet look cheap. It was purchased and displayed but I have no idea where it is. Probably hidden. We need a upgrade. I better talk to Linda Hopki9ns about her wish list she talks about.
The contractor for this project will be donating to the campaign of the politicians who approved then for this project beat believe that.
Humans are the only animals that have to pay to live
Humans are the only animals where a vast majority can't live completely off the land and when they did at one point life expectancy was extremely short.
Does it come with a happy ending
Yup German-shiza style
Many are used for doing drugs along the Embarcadero to Market Street.
In 8th grade, I remember playing truth or dare there when that spot used to be a parking lot. Spicy times.
That's Cool history there!
Thank for sharing 👍🤗🗽
@@jamescoleakaericunderwood2503 😂 You’re welcome dude! I’ve got many stories from that neighborhood over my life
@@Noahdaceo no doubt! ✌️
Obviously, nobody knows how much it cost to make a 4x4 union made "crap box" in SF when you add cost of permits, ADA, earthquake, environmental, safety, health requirements.
Most of the money would have lined some thieves' pockets.
Probably permit cost, environmental studies, regulations, late fee etc. It adds up if construction does not start promptly. You're paying $1.7 mil to the administrators and their friends. Your tax dollars at work, folks.
no, not 1.7million for that.
Portable restroom is $200 a month
With 1.7m you can rent that for like 700 years
Someone in Park and Rec is booking a flight to a non-extradition country. Next update will likely be that London Breed dated that person as well, lol.
So basically it costs about $170k but someone decided to add an extra zero to line their pockets.
Let me guess the owner of the company that "win" the licitation is the brother in law or the cousin, etc. of a councilmember or maybe of the mayor.
And then came pelosi
Who let that guy make decisions on that amount of money
San Francisco, next election, please vote for "a cup of water with a 'D' on it" as per Nancy Pelosi. At least then you'd save $1.7mil from corruption
Well, that's DemocRats for you!
Take any simple task that is relatively easy, simple and inexpensive and they pad it with so much corruption that it ends up totally ridiculous, totally expensive and way behind schedule.
1.7 millions, golden 💩 🥣
Sad, it doesn't even look likes it's worth $10.00. O snAp. I thought they meant the portapotty. 🤦
For a Porta potty??
Why doesn’t Los Angeles have this ? Or San Bernardino?
A good example of why governments should not interfere with free markets. Anything the government touches become corrupt and inefficient
I agree, but also corporate money needs to stay out of campaign finances. Both parties are slaves to their corporate masters.
It's not only about kickbacks but providing a huge restroom for ne'er-do-wells to get into all types of trouble.
100K for the restroom, 1.6million for "The big guy"
The difference between a permanent structure and a contract that may potentially have kickbacks......
I live in Sacramento. I didn’t agree to send $1.7 million to San Francisco.
WAIT. A port-o-john cost that? what in the actual eff?
Say it with me:
MONEY LAUNDERING.
MONEY LAUNDERING.
MONEY LAUNDERING.
Clearly someone’s pockets got lined, that toliet didn’t cost 💩💩💩💩🚽🚽🚽🚽
Add to the graybar.........
Yeah the junkies will love it
It’s not 1.7m$ for a public restroom it’s only 5-800k$ if not lower than that like the GREEN one along powell and embarcadero
The public sector truly does not represent the people.
ALL of those state and local officials should be thrown out of office, even out of the city of SF !
Corruption, that's why... That city needs to be audited yesterday.
They don't care because it's not their money. But they'll happily accept the kickbacks from the contractors building that golden throne.
Maybe the costs include cleaning drug addict poop off floors, walls, and ceiling, repairing damage from drug addicts, and unclogging drains blocked up by drug addicts.
Guess where that money went SF citizens in those greedy politicians pockets. I hope the news investigates where exactly it went and traces the money seriously. please!!!! id like to know who these people that were hired to put the toilet on that property are related to and who the politicians are related to.
Yes, who exactly in the chain of commands is pocketing money?
ESP since they could get FREE TOILETS
soft costs are insane in this city because of bureaucrat bs
Someone is getting money under the table
From free to 1.7million. Lol right… anything greedy corrupt officials can sink their paws into.
They get the toilets for free but still have to spend 1.2 million dollars a year to operate.
I am Native American born in San Francisco my family several wars Juli me what a disgrace I worked in Bethlehem shipyard Miss Feinstein Nancy you really need to look at what going on or don't you care people who work try to drive yourself to middle class you don't look at them people want to put a ball in their mouth or so many other things were they don't provide towards the country for you it's OK you got their vote I don't understand how that works you're so lost I am so angry so I can say I will not hurt anybody if I'm so good at it never did came home never came home
None of you are public works contractors. most don't bid sf work due to all the BS/ red tape/ regulations. the only ones that do, specialize in SF public works. they know what they are getting into and charge a premium for the BS they get into. 1.7 MILLION is LOWEST BIDDER, FOR A REASON
oh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soooounds like an embezzlement project to me. Trust the government 👌
Jesus Christ...I could clear a spot out get some materials and build a Terrazzo bathroom for a tenth of that ...run a drain direct to drainage and sewer ... Rinse clean
Well you can rent 5 porta potty for 10 years at $1.7 million.
Of course it is unreasonable. Does it come with self cleaning air freshener?
I would rather get more of those $20,000 trash cans all over the city then one of these restrooms in Noe Valley
it will only cost $20,000. to build a restroom, however the other cost is getting the building permit, paying the building inspectors for approval, using a politician recommend contractor, land fee permit, LGBQT approval permit, ADA approval permits and all the other filing fees you will need to build in a city like San Francisco....dang, just do like the homeless and piss and crap on the sidewalk and let the city clean it up with their doo doo specialty clean up crew.
I dont know why everyone is surprised.! How the hell are they supposed to buy mansions and luxury cars and private planes if they don't charge 1.7 million. Baby moma needs new shoes too
Who needs fancy trash cans???
And cost $1.7 M,just waste the money 💰
With this economy ( all the prices going up )
SF doesn't need fancy trash cans ..unbelievable.
At the same time more homeless people need help. $1.7 million really . Corrupt city officials need to be held accountable . Your taxes dollars.
Wow, it cost less to build my 2,400 sq ft house in Tiburon lol
$1.7 mil just to build it? One public toilet? I would understand if it's to build multiple and maintain them etc for many years...
Cant even fix the road on mission and market street what a dam shame
That sounds high but building in SF is not cheap. Legally everything has to be built retro fit and that is not cheap..
Don't be an ass.
@@starlite556 she kinda old and fat but still wiggles
Bay area has so much money they can house every homeless person they can if they have to
I thought California's streets were the toilet 🚽
Same I guess we were lied too
Then why don't they let the same private company put those for free for self advertisement? Everyone will be happy, no public spending, good quality self cleaning toilets and a private company taking care of them free of charge just for clout.
And we wonder why our taxes are so high...
Sorry, there is something wrong here. Seriously wrong. Just like those odd undated resignation letters. Time to ask serious review and questions.
Scams
Across from demolished Lincoln high portland,or..portable potty for homeless burned at least 5...i had the honor on way to fred meyer to witness fire truck arrive as another potty flames licking the sky..
Take back all the money except for the $20,000 it should actually cost to build a bathroom. Clyde back from whomever it was paid.
this seems like someones trying to line their pockets
Every beaurocrat and friends are getting a piece. I will build it for 75 thousand
1.7 million, hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha the people that want 1.7 million to build it is crazy.
The people building it are probably good friends or relatives that will split the money with some politicians. It is nothing new. Why do you think politicians become politicians? It is not because they care about the people it is because they want to become filthy rich.
Two years to build a bathroom
Friends getting contracts?
Who's getting a kick back?
the whole city is a public toilet
I'm sorry, I was raised in Marin, and San Francisco was one of THE most beautiful cities in the world and what it has become is tragic. Why do people keep voting these idiots into office? Well we can say that about almost any place I guess.
Stop blaming the politicians people, YOU elected them. It's time to stand up and be conscious of who your local people are. PAY ATTENTION. Try to learn about them before casting that vote. I realize THAT is not always easy. I've been trying to research my local people and some of them hide really well.
wonder how much elected official pocket the funds???
More drugs, more criminals, more looting, more burglaries, more bathroom costs more than a million dollars approved by Bay Area politicians 😅😅😅😅
what a joke
1.7 on a toilet but they can’t spend that on the homeless and mental health and drug issues for the people of San Francisco
Are we still pretending Democrats aren't laundering money? This is almost as bad as the $20mil heated sidewalk in new Hampshire.
You're a republican bigot if you don't pretend
wheres the mayor?
KEEP VOTING DEMOCRAT AND WONDER WHAT'S WRONG!?!?
1.7 mill!? What!? It's made out of gold? It better be made out of gold if it's 1.7 million dollars.
1.7 million on toilets but can't spend shit on helping homless people.
