This is a prime example of how inefficient and dysfunctional SF is when it comes to doing anything, even something should be simple, building a public toilet.
I bet they won't take that long to wreck it .

Public toilets are *so* important. It would be great if they're less expensive, but we need the toilets.
It would be cheaper for the city to buy a condo and let people shower in a beautiful Noe Valley condo.

Permit Fees? Isn't that permit from SF itself? So they are saying they will make a budget to pay themselves?
So a free toilet runs about $350k? If that’s how much things cost, it’s no wonder people cat get ahead in S.F., California, or the USA.
I think you can buy a condo for less than a million, and the original price of the toilet was over $1.5M.
Something is way off kilter, especially when city workers calmly explain how normal this is. It’s not. Something is broken.

I don't get the sense people asking about upkeep have used the modern public toilets in sf. I've used them with my kid. They're fine.
I no longer go to visit.
We used to go 2/3 times per year to different scenery spots and get some meal,but not planning on going back any time soon!
