Sad to see all of these historic restaurants closing since the pandemic. It's no wonder so many are leaving this state. Hope everyone's having a good weekend.
Wish the owner a happy retirement
I only visited San Francisco a couple of times over the years, but oddly I ate at Mums every morning I stayed in the city. Fantastic place, fantastic people. Very sad to see it close, but I wish the family well and say thank you for giving me a great experience when I visited the cafe.
Thank you Gavin!
They get what they vote for lmfao
Japantown is one amongst 3 or so other crown jewels of this city
Japantown is my must stop every time I visited the city. With the current lawlessness I don't see I'd ever return to the city again.
crime....they're closing due to crime....They're just too classy to let everyone in on the SF treat!
Hm, all these years and I've never even tried this place. Wonder why the kids aren't going to take over. I mean at 73, he really should retire and enjoy life.
After what the city did to the restaurant community (not just through COVID, but years of ridiculous regulations), no one would want their kid to continue with the business
@@jumboshrimps4498 That's your opinion. The reality is, newer generations simply do not want to do what their parents HAD to do to survive bc they have a choice.
@@UpUpDnDnLtRtLtRtBAStart no one had to open a restaurant. It's all been a choice. The question is why restaurant has become relatively unfavorable. There's a lot of new restaurants opening up in Inner-Eastbay bay area. Those cities are more restaurant friendly than San Francisco.

Truth
I'm always against that the government is not focusing enough money for elders retirement thats why they have to work at 72 to afford rents and things they need.
The city turned crappy so therefore it is closing
@@imd1b4u We had a lot of old established restaurants close. They told the local media, due to higher costs of foods they purchased which rose 40% due to inflation, also higher insurance, etc.
Smart I think it's best to close. The goals am sure the father set out to be was just to support his family and watch his daughters grow, who needs more money other then that? Live life and enjoy, knowing how to spend your savings is the goal.
Driven by it, but I've never been in there.
I really want to hear more about how this will impact Rohit from Berkeley.
Asking the last American to flee San Francisco, please take our flag 🇺🇸
where we headin
they might mistake it and grab the Mexican flag.
Good to see more San Francisco businesses closing down. They voted for this, let them enjoy it.
The restaurant owner is in his 70s! It's hard work to run a restaurant even in your 40s. I seriously doubt you'd be able to run a restaurant in your 70s.
*Stop using YT comments to push your hateful narrative.*
@@DemPilafian Spoken like a true Biden voter. What would be so hard about running a business in your 70s compared to your 60s or 50s?
@@jillbelas7266 The restaurant owner was in his 70s and wanted to retire. Who are you to criticize him for retiring?!? *Your arrogance is off the chart.*
@@DemPilafian The truth is now a hateful narrative? How Stalinist of you.
@@abefroman4953 The voters didn't make the owner of the restaurant become a senior citizen. *You completely fabricated that narrative.* Be a better person and tell the truth.
Best way to operate a business in a soft on crime city within a soft on crime city is to NOT operate a business there.
Open a location in America.
Good, more taxes for the people.
You guys voted for it help next time people vote the right way definitely going to get worse
This is the reality - Business need to adapt fast if they want to sustain this shift post pandemic. This means acknowledging that their security needs to be beefed up, adoption of delivery services is critical, adoption of AI tech to bridge the gap with staffing and expenses, and maybe food trucks to establish rapport and connect with potential retail that is not around the immediate area of your brick and motor. Ultimately, businesses need to adapt FAST.
Local mom and pops can barely function day to day. This will only benefit the Chains, and large franchises
