So It took the city years to get rid of the used heroin needles on the sidewalk
    the poop on the sidewalk

but they can get rid of the planters on Monday morning
Their priorities are all out of whack

Perhaps the day will come when voters build some critical thinking skills, then realize that they can't solve their homelessness problems as long as they keep voting for wealthy people. This includes some members of the LA City Council.
What these wealthy politicians don't get is that us peons don't mind new taxes paying for these things. As long as the wealthy pays the bill. 😏

    • @carolinematusevich889

The mayor doesn't add to the problem. She knows how to fix it. The city council doesn't want to fund a plan. The state legislature hasn't come up with a plan, nor expanded funding to deal with the issue. All because no one wants to pay for it.
But that's too bad for the politicians who feel that way. You know, the wealthy ones. The ones who know that voters wants THEM to PERSONALLY fund the vast majority of homelessness services.
But you can't collect the eggs when you vote for foxes to guard the henhouse. Stop voting for the wealthy for public office.

On another note they need to make more homeless shelters. Only problem is the not in my backyard people. The ones who complain a shelter is too close to their home. The whole thing is a mess. They need to be consulted by the people who manage the housing first in Finland.

Same issue here in Albuquerque. A city-wide issue, but one large beautiful park that was the pride of the city with dog walkers and families alike was taken over to the point that businesses across the street, who had spent a fortune to have their facility near the park, was just a few weeks from losing their clientele. The homeless would vandalize the building every night (and use it as a toilet, and during the day, sneak into the business to use the bathrooms for drugs. Being nice to them did not help. They would demand water and sometimes, calls to the police would bring no help at all. Several times they were threatened with bodily harm. Heart-breaking that a wonderful family business was going under. The city finally cleared out the park (all the ancient older trees were already destroyed from being used as toilets with even graffiti carved into them), cut down all the trees, and it is now going to be a fire station. For now, they have moved to other parts of the city. Not a solution, but they don't want to have a solution unless it is on THEIR terms...no rules or regulations. Ridiculous. I fortunately live 50 miles away, but friends and family have worked hard to stay in town to serve the city they love. They have sacrificed so much already, as have the good folks in LA/Hwood. These are the tax-paying peeps who help pay for all the city services. I know the area well, but would not feel safe to walk like I used to, without a large group of friends, or even an armed escort! 🤠🐴🌎❤

But these people can't afford the mortgage or rentb where they are, but they don't want to live where they can afford like everyone else does, they think housing should just be given to them. There is no entitlement to live wherever you want, you live where you canb afford. But we all know this is a drug problem, not a housing problem.

very bright lighting is also a deterrent, as is any kind of slope or gradient, narrow meandering pathways and then early morning sweeps to move any sleeping individuals. Works in Paris.

This is a start. Another "thinking out of the box" thing to do to deter potentially violent "Youths" is to play Classic Music outside - it's like Kryptonite for Superman. Classical Music drives these underclass youths elsewhere.
    Here's another tip.
Do not ever tolerate Hip Hop Gangster Rap music anywhere you want to have civilization. When you allow Hip Hop Gangster rap to blast - it's their turf.

The cities need to talk to the people behind housing first in Finland. The whole problem would be fixed. Sadly if the recent heat wave doesn't take lives of homeless people.
