I BET THE PEOPLE NEXT DOOR ARE PISSED FROM THOSE RATS MOVING AROUND......JUST AWFUL
Make them clean up their mess. Provide tools only so they'll learn and appreciate their own efforts.
My theory is the people who own next door homes took the man's squalor as an excuse to lowball the owners of the neighboring homes. In fact they may have put him up to it or enabled his condition for their ends. Its like the guy who paid someone to squat in a place he wanted to buy for cheap to put pressure on the sellers and drive down the price. Anyway everyone on the block is doing a victory lap now all their homes are worth at least another $250K all at the anonymous taxpayers expense. Never let a good crisis go to waste. The only bad thing is clean air is going to smell funny to them for the next few weeks after years of smelling rotting garbage.
@@CoolHand273What exactly are you saying? That the surrounding homeowners enjoyed the fact that the squalor caused their own property values to decrease? That makes no sense. Why would anybody be complicit in the sabotage of their own property value?
@@CoolHand273 of one of the neighboring tear downs (in which the previous version of it, structurally looked like his) .. they’ve since (completion) offered him 2M which he has declined - doesn’t need the money ,, his property as is, is $2M minimum,, he knows that .. vultures on the prey
@@angelamarie88I am saying the speculator developers who built the homes next door probably got the original bungalows for a song because they were next to a blighted property. No one wants to live next to something like that and they most certainly do not enjoy it. Its just that the developers likely used this situation to their advantage. I am sure most of the neighbors were horrified but you would want to sabotage the values of the home in the neighborhood if you wanted to buy a home in the neighborhood for a significant discount and then have the problem solved at the city's expense making your home go up in value in the process. The long time residents are not sabotaging anything. Like most people they just want to live quietly and be left alone. A real estate developer may use google earth to find really run down homes and try to buy them homes next door for a discount since those people feel they could not sell their homes otherwise. Hope this makes sense from a predatory capitalist standpoint. Nothing I have tried myself. I am not that clever. There was something a long time ago called blockbusting where realtors would go into white neighborhoods and spread rumors that black people were moving in. All the white people would sell at a discount and the realtors would re-sell the properties at a nice profit.

I’m at a lost how one person can accumulate so much trash. This man clearly needs a case manager or a personal support worker to help keep an eye on him. I am noticing that people who need daily support are now being put out in this world on their own and that is not good.
His sister should have been looking out for him! She looks like a wacko too

What is crazier is that even with all that trash, that property is still worth 2 million dollars!!
This person has been doing this for years. The fact that the neighboring houses managed to be bought and sold tells me the housing market in LA is nuts. People are willing to buy and remain next door to a landfill so long as their property value remains unscathed. The houses immediately next door look updated as well. Simply astonishing.
I saw another story about this same house earlier in the week and the neighbor right behind him has been in their home for over 30 years. They said they built a wall in the rear of their property after this guy started filling his yard with trash hoping that would give a better barrier to the piles of garbage and rodents. With interest rates so high and they are probably getting older, they probably don’t want to get another mortgage. My husband and I are in our 30th year in our house and retirement is coming up and we don’t want to deal with a mortgage. Plus, imagine trying to sell a house that borders a garbage dump. The story I read gave the name of the street the house was on and i found the street view of it that was dated over a year ago and the front yard, while overgrown, had been cleared of trash. The aerial view showed the backyard was full of it. I’m not sure who had helped him clear the front yard before, if it was family or somebody hired, but it’s insane how much the trash has built up again.
Why can't they clean up the streets of LA like this? Shame on the local government for allowing this to go on for so long.
They do it on purpose. They have an agenda.
What about the people causing the mess? Do they bear any responsibility?

And I am surprised the sister thought him living in that house was a good idea!
Yes thank you Mariah, you seem to be the only one to understand this guy can’t be fixed or change at this age and lack of mental flexibility combined with autism, he is a lost cause and should be in a care facility permanently
He is the homeowner. His Cancer stricken sister gave him this house.
Mariah why do you think that you are competent enough to diagnose somebody into a mental institution? He can drive, he can cook, he can read and he can write. Hoarding is a mental disorder that he needs help for. Probably for the rest of his life.

Well he’s autistic and autistic people sometimes have trouble getting rid of things. His sister should have known he needed someone to monitor him and help him with things. It’s not that “he won’t cooperate”….it’s about the fact that he’s got a disability and has trouble with certain things. They better bill the hoarder.
embrace your authentic self (and then reach out)
obviously some of you either don't listen very well or have a hard time with comprehension. Short version, the house belonged to the sister who give it to the brother because she had cancer. He has autism. AND just because you put a million dollar price tag on something doesn't make it worth a million dollars. Only "in your own mind"
Unbelievable that this would happen in the same city, which made it ok to crap on the public sidewalk. lol
Congrats to the sanitation worker who has lasted 25 years! It's a hard job and where would we be without them?
How does a mess get this bad?
How long did it take?
How long did it take to deal with the resident?

Send him a bill and if he doesn't pay put a lien on his house
Absolutely. They better make him pay. Lien for sure if he doesn’t pay.
I bet he is very embarrassed.
"This could've been taken care of years agooo!" Dude sounds lk Adam Sandler!! 😂💀
Society needs to start taking people with autism more seriously as a mental health disorder. The numbers have increased dramatically. Mental health needs to be improved and mental hospitals need to be reopened and some need to be committed after extreme vetting .
