There are easements where I’m at where a neighbors house is built on part of the next neighbors property. Usually in rural community areas, not suburban planned communities like the houses shown here.
zero lot line properties are built exactly on the edge of their property lines. Those houses don't have windows on that side of the house because their exterior wall is literally a fence for the property it abuts.

Keeping the elderly residents up. When we called the Police station, they said it wasn't related. But this has happened multiple nights. And it's never been the case before. Also, the police officer neighbor had his buddies over. And they were playing loud music till 3am, keeping the neighbors up. When the police we're called , nobody came out.
The lady needs to learn to speak English and stand up for her rights as a property owner. Just because he’s a cop doesn’t mean you can’t report him to law enforcement. Just because he’s a cop you can’t go down to the county office with your survey and start the process to clear up this issue. Apparently, she sat on her butt waiting for the TV news cameras to come riding into town to see her for some simple, simple property dispute. I questioned her competency in running a home for the elderly. The TV crew might wanna investigate her for some shady shenanigans with the elderly.
The officer needs to receive disciplinary action from the county or city he works within. His actions reflect upon the whole police department and county government.
Wow! Good job, Howard!! Thank you for taking this one on. It **should be** an embarassment to that police department that one of their officers is behaving that way to a tax-paying citizen of his own community. And what the heck kind of law would ever say a house isn't "allowed" to have WINDOWS??? What the hell?
I hope someone at the police department investigates. The officer's behavior is damaging to the department's reputation and is an indicator that he has problems that may affect how he performs his job. It's outrageous.
Aside from the property issues here, it is concerning that someone living in the USA for 35 years doesn't speak any English. If she did, she might have been able to communicate with the neighbour before things got out of hand.
If she owns 7.5 feet from her house she should build a fence at that point then it allows space for residents in an emergency and clearly defines where her land begins and the neighbours ends.
Is anyone else shocked that someone who has lived in an English speaking country for 35 years is still not able to speak sufficient English to get her side of the story across? Does anyone know why? As a migrant myself I find this perplexing.
Why did the news program not even hint at the reason she had to have an interpreter? It is distracting from her real story. My parents knew a little English already from some classes in school growing up in Europe. They Came to Canada (1956) in their early 30s and I was 5 and did not know any English at all. They both took some night classes to improve once they arrived. I started Grade 1 in the city when I just turned 6 (no Kindergarten then) and passed every grade. They probably just thought I was one of those quiet, shy kids in that large classroom, but I was learning the language AND trying to make sense of the lessons! If a child can do it within months, then an adult should have an easier time by just being out in public with English-speaking people, along with radio, TV, printed formats, and other media that is available now, and should automatically absorb the basics within those 35 years!

He’s not only a bad neighbor, he’s a bad cop. This guy could snap at any moment and hurt her or her residents
Also, neighbors who aren't cops, have done the same things to their neighbors.
The cop should be sued for harassment.
She’s been in US for 35 years and still can’t speak English. Most of these people are elderly, if there was an emergency they wouldn’t be able to get out. This cop has a screw loose, id closely check his arrest records
Name & sue the Cop who continues to break the law over & over again!

Where's the fire department complaint?
That dude is a jerk, he needs to put up a fence on HIS property if he wants privacy.

dangerous bully!!
That officer needs to be investigated for every stop and arrest he's ever made. He is a bully and should have zero authority over others.
Agree to that.
Officer is both bully and coward. Gives law enforcement bad name
He is behaving this blatantly illegal in broad daylight to vulnerable residents of assisted living facility? No telling what he does on the job under colour of authority! Wonder what his police disciplinary record looks like!
Exactly
Exactly right!

Hire a construction crew to build a legal fence on your property line. Throw everything on your property away. Intimidation is a felony.

This man broke the law and had the audacity to threaten his neighbor when she called him on it. He should be fired for both. She should sue him, and also get a restraining order against him.
Trespassing. This guy is a bully & a jerk. His actions reflect poorly on the police department. He should have more respect for the elders. If he's lucky, one day he will be old as well.
If he gets treated like he treat others,he will see what it is to be abused!
It's worse than trespassing, He's is committing Adverse Possession. He ultimately wants to legally take over her home.
He's a MEGA LOSER!!! 🤮🤡
And He should have more respect for the law.
in this country 35yrs and still does not speak english and turns her home into an assisted living home. if I was a neighbor I would be pissed.
Yes, something is wrong with her story. She should be able to converse in English and some of these residential homes are not legit.
She should seek to have charges brought against him for trespasse and harassment
reminds me of the movie 'Lakeview Terrace', starring Samuel L. Jackson.
and endangerment of seniors by blocking up the windows
That is crazy at every turn. Why hasn’t the cop been arrested yet? Harassment, trespassing, vandalism, fire code violations, and threatening to have her arrested should be some kind of abuse of power.
nothing is crazy
He’s pushing his weight around. If he wasn’t a cop, but ordinary citizen, this story would probably be different.
Because he's a cop. They never turn on their own, even when they're in the wrong.
... this is a norm for some cops.... and gets away with it. Samuel Jackson played this role in Lakeview Terrace😂
She needs to file a complaint against him with Internal Affairs.
This cop is clearly a nut job and needs to be fired immediately.
Obvious abuse of authority. He's going to end up hurting somebody.
This is awful. He's using the fact that he's a police officer to bully this woman into submission. I'm glad she's fighting back. I hope that she sues him and wins. He's a disgrace to the badge and he should be fired immediately...without benefits!
The badge does this to people who wear it. #acab
Some people just simply believe they are above the law. He obviously has issues and shouldn't be an officer at all.

maybe he has wild parties with stippers or something.
The Audacity of this Jerk!! How Would He Like it if Someone did That To Him?? 😝
Sometimes if you have a house with a zero lot line, one or two sides of your house will not have windows. Many subdivisions are like that.
@@ES-7766 Fire code has to have a second exit - normally a window. I have seen places for sale with 2 bedrooms, and then 2 "bedroom like" rooms. The "bedroom-like" rooms did not have windows, so legally could not be called bedrooms, and legally should not be used as such - as it is a fire hazard. This is an assisted living facility - he put all of their lives in danger. Had a civilian done this - they would have been in jail.
He needs to be fired and charged. And the city department that issued him the permit should be investigated for incompetence or corruption.
Sue the crazy neighbor. As for his being a cop, he should be fired, then arrested for fraud, trespassing and damaging his neighbor’s house.
did you just move here from the moon?

im sure that there are atleast a few lawyers who will see this and think CHA-CHING!
What a nightmare that she has to worry about her safety on her own property and land because someone has access to power and law. He’s clearly a nut. I feel so bad for her.
This is how bullies operate. They feed off the drama that they create and are constantly trying to make other people miserable.

How did he have a survey showing different property ownership? Did he forge it? Did a clerk forge it? That's a crime. I'm unaware of ANY resdiential property that owns everything right up to a neighbor's wall. Fraud, corruption, harrassment, endangerment, abuse of power, trespassing and damage of private property.
There are easements where I’m at where a neighbors house is built on part of the next neighbors property. Usually in rural community areas, not suburban planned communities like the houses shown here.
I am sure the foficer showing up at the buildings dept. and saying he is a cop and flashing his badge helped.
Exactly what I thought too!
zero lot line properties are built exactly on the edge of their property lines. Those houses don't have windows on that side of the house because their exterior wall is literally a fence for the property it abuts.
Someone bought the property adjoining mine and had it surveyed. He claimed that part of my property was his, as well as part of another neighbor's property. In the ensuing legal engagement, we learned that it's a common thing for different surveyors to come up with different boundary lines.
Her neighbor should be arrested!!!
But after 35 yrs she still does not speak the language of her new country???

@kbee. Sentenced? Uh, can't be sentenced unless charged with a crime and found guilty.
UPDATE!
(Reposted from one of the neighbors facebook's group.)
As of April the fifteenth.
Several police cars have driven through the neighborhood in the middle of the night with their sirens on.
Sounds like one of his buddies in the county gave him a fake survey, and another a permit. Both of those people should be removed.
So glad you are helping this woman!! No way this guy is a "good cop".
Officer is trying to abuse his authority.
Correction, He IS abusing his power.
35 years in the USA and she needs a translator?
WOW... imagine a police officer claiming your windows are illegal and I can "use" your land!! Clearly he needs a therapist!
He needs to be locked up.
I agree❤
Gives them a little terrace to walk as well
Exactly.
Hopefully she's working on that. A permanent fence should finally stop him land grabbing.
Best idea yet! But the cop is so crazy that he'll probably tear it down or try to have her arrested for being on his property. Which is hers.
He needs to be charged with trespassing. If it were the other way around, she’d probably be in jail!
Cop is a public servant his name should be displayed.
Yes display his name
It’s already been shown in previous comments, above.
The news should be ashamed for not mentioning his name.
All of his arrest records need to be reviewed. He’s obviously not fit to be a civil servant, especially a law enforcement officer.
those are the ones they get promotions.
