Who else listens to these legends in 2024? This music brings back many memories ....from Fort Worth, Texas
A transplant from ATX, I loved my time there! My 2 grown children are still there. Being a Chicano from Califas, I grew to love Everything Texas...! This is a prime example of Great Music! To those who were not there or in the scene, know nothing about! I'm proud to know!
I do. He was genius.
Grilling on my BGE here in Monterrey México ready to make my Carne asada Chillar 🇲🇽🥩🔥🫡
...nedostižitelní frajeři a bombarďáci jsou legendy...rád poslouchám...nová muzika mě vůbec nebere...
Doug Sahm what a blast! Probably one of the most underrated musicians ever! 🌵
I listen to a very wide array of music. Heard Poison Love on the radio about a month ago. No song name or artist mentioned, I had to research and get the info. Dude should be well known.
Never heard of Doug Sahm. RUclips recommended this song last week. I've been catching up. This is pure gold!
Listen to rain rain rain rain by him
He started with Sir Douglas Quintet. He was part of the supergroup Texas Tornadoes with Angie, Freddy Fender, and Flaco Jimenez.
He played all over Texas and Louisiana, I lived in Austin Texas in the 1970s and Doug was always at Soap Creek and the Armadillo World Headquarters, great musician and band leader
An amazing talent
Lots of other central and south Texas to listen to . Check out Joe "KING "Currasco or the Texas Tornados or Bubba Hernandez .
First became aware of this guy because of his hit song, Mendocino, in the sixties. Rediscovered him while living in Austin in the mid-eighties. Love this guy. Love this band. Having a personal Doug Sahm revival after recently hearing, to my great surprise and delight, a bar band play "San Antone" out here in the Bay Area. He would have turned 80 a few days ago. Terrible shame to lose him at such a young age.
Das sind die supersongs aus den 70ern kann man nicht vergessen
This is so danged cool! Miss you Doug, and your compadres. 🌵💝
Hey, his keyboard player is still out playing gigs and he is now in his 80's! I got chance to play a show with Augie Meyers last Sep. in Midland, TX.. and at the end of this month he will doing a benefit with my dear friends in Texas, check it out if you live there, sure to not disappoint! Cheers.
Many good and mellow times I recall listening to this man's music. Adios , Doug, enjoy your cosmic reward.
Doug has such a cool ass different voice!!! He's GREAT!!!
Couldn't agree more.
Doug and Augie, two legends.
Augie is the best
I have always been a fan of Doug and inn my teens I used to hear him on the radio. I was so sad to hear that he passed.
Doug & Freddy... R.I.P. Guys... You both are sorely missed. Austin, Zilker Park and Iron Works BBQ... How great are they?!
am with you
🙏🏼Doug, unique and unrepeatable..😍🙏🏼
Met him once at Stubbs in Lubbock, I was with Joe Ely and some other friends. Must've been 73 or 74. OMG I didn't know he was Sir Douglas Quintet. Just a regular fella. wow.
I do not think I'd heard of him until the first of this month, but dam, he is the best Austin music I have heard. His song can't go back to Autin is my favorite song of any kind of music.
I love this song dad wrote. But the coolest thing is when he wiggled his fingers like oh Austin groove time. He was a jokester. But serious about his music. Didn't like people stealing songs.
Dawn Sahm you must be so proud of your dad.
@@freddie171 yes i am and as a great father and great grandpa. Thank you
He is the best!!!!!! Watching in Oxford MS!!!!!
Being from a small South Texas town, that was like our theme song.
Dawn Sahm you were saying your Dad didn’t like song stealing. Was that a big problem? I’m just curios if it was common there or in your dad’s circle? I’ve know of that happening on a personal level, but unless you have lots of money for lawyers it’s hard to straighten out.
Glad To Have Roots From Two Badass Towns Pasadena Texas And Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas

Right? I hear Townes Van Zandt wanted to be Sir Douglas when he grew up. Fail.
Will Francis He still is !!!
I live in Laredo ....I've hung out in Nuevo Laredo.... partied.....seen some good metal ...punk ... rock a billy ... industrial....hell spent a day in the Palace (police headquarters basement jail...) No one ever played this tune on the radio... jukebox ..... nothing....damn....And the Clash played Laredo TX with Joe Ely.....there's scant history but it did happen ...my sister went....she had the tour shirt and passed it on to me 2 years later I wore that fucker to shreds.....
Damn, I grew up in Nuevo Laredo... Wow! My new favorite song! 😊
Don't get too attached, at least not until you listen to Doug Sahm sing Mendocino. Only the words are different.
Same Nuevo Laredo Tamps tho
Escarbajo....Ozzma.....metal and punker bars.....the fun started at midnight....at one time.
Puro cdn
I recall this guy from always in my life...miss ya' bub.
Rest in paradise, Sir Douglas.
Angels jamming in the background... with the Vox Continental.

When Doug Sahms ruled the barrio at night 👍
Listen to him everyday, his music is the best ever. And at night it plays in my head..😂 2024!
The king groover. We produced a documentary on Doug Sahm called Sir Doug & The Genuine Texas Cosmic Groove.. It's coming back on Nov 6th in honor of Doug's birthday :)
I moved to Austin the very week that Doug passed. I was kind of aware of who he was but after performing with musicians who worked with him I rapidly dug him and got hip to what a huge influence he had on the "Austin" sound. love him!
It's my first time listening to this song, I was born and grew up in Nvo Laredo.at the age of 18 my parents brought me to San Antonio tx, and who stayed
To były czasy i muzyka 👏👏👏👍👌🍎💞🖐💝🙌♥🌷💯🇵🇱💋
Real music right here...always struck me as a guy that would've played for free because he loved what he did.

SALUDOS A MIS DOS LAREDOS 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I first met Doug when he was Sir Douglas. We remained friends until his untimely death. Doug invited me to be his guest when the Texas Tornados played at one of Bill Clinton's Inaugural Balls. We spent three days grooving in DC. Read about those days and many more in my book "Fast Forward, Play, and Rewind"

I saw him at a biker rally at SPI.
And I have a house there in mexico.
Only gringo for miles.
Hunter Thompson sent me here: “The first media-bus was scheduled to leave the hotel for the stadium at 10:30, four hours before kickoff, so I figured that gave me some time to relax and act human. I filled the bathtub with hot water, plugged the tape recorder with both speakers into a socket right next to the tub, and spent the next two hours in a steam-stupor, listening to Rosalie Sorrels and Doug Sahm, chewing idly on a small slice of Mr. Natural, and reading the Cocaine Papers of Sigmund Freud.”
AWESOME
Augie the best
Sir Douglas !
So Cool
I was two weeks free from cocaine. Then I heard this song.
This is a surprise to me. I know for a fact the old downtown "cantinas" centre is gone by decay. Only locals visit them for a drink. Wonder when and where Mr. Sahm was in.
My kind of music.
Only Augie Meyers could get that drive with a Vox Organ! Awesome!!
There's only 683k views because it doesn't count all the times I click it back to 12 seconds.

This is like a Doors Country song
Boys Town
Yes, it is a song about young Texas dummy whore mongers.
Who was the steel player?
Harry Hess. He was a very good guitar player/harmonica player too. Sadly, he passed in the early 2000's.
