My #1 tip for new players is that there's no such thing as kill stealing in Halo. If you see a teammate in a gunfight, help them! Any time you can see an enemy (and you aren't intentionally going for a sneaky play) you should be putting shots into them. Those couple bullets could be the difference between a teammate living or dying.
@@eg-a2357 One of my oldest friends used to define assists as: Kills that are stolen from you. With a post-match scoreboard of 10K/ 3D/ 10A for example
Not in this Halo anyway, as progression isn't tied to gameplay. You'd think getting some kind of extra reward for playing well individually or cohesively as a team would grant some kind of match bonus. It wouldn't kill them to reward you 50 battle pass exp for every five kills and assists you get up to 15-20 kills or assists, totaling a maximum performance incentive payout of up to 150-200 exp per game plus whatever you get in challenges. It's a highly reasonable progression model that still won't let people blaze through the battle pass but makes it more inviting for the broader audience.
Infinite has made me stick with my teammates a lot more than I ever did in the previous titles. I normally do my own thing in the game, but this way I end up in 1v2/1v3 situations and it makes me die a lot more than usual. Played few matches today where I stuck by my teammates and actually went positive for once. As Carter said, that Lone Wolf stuff stays behind...
Well sadly, I dont have teammates, I got myself Xcloud from the ultimate gamepass and all my friends rather play rainbow, and most dont even have or know halo.
Something I want to add about the ping system. When you ping an enemy, it'll show how many are in that immediate area. So if you ping an enemy and there's 2 other enemies with them, it'll show "3" in the diamond. This is especially useful in ranked where there's no motion tracker.
The Razorback (Warthog without the turret) is so underutilized in objective modes like CTF and the one with the power cells. On the rear end of the Razorback, there are compartments where you can store weapons, power cells, and even the flag! You can load up several cells in the razorback, and drive them all back to base at once. You can drive in a Razorback to the enemy flag, store it in the back, and drive it back to your base solo. You can also put power weapons on the Razorback as well.

The battle rifle breaks shield and headshots with the last burst. You technically need 11 shots to break shield and the last bullet to hit head. That’s what makes the BR so strong. Even if you have a bit of shield the first 2 bullets could break you then the final one headshots for the kill. Keep this in mind when someone is shooting you with it or you know they have it. Just because you have some shields doesn’t mean you’re safe lol
My biggest tip would be cross hair placement. It’s super important in high ranks because often the first person to land a shot will be the winner of the gun battle
Here’s a few tips I got: -the brighter the enemy player, the weaker their shields are -yellow is the easiest to read enemy color for shield strength, sparking shield breaks, and spotting across the map -generally, the enemy is wherever your team isn’t and is always nearby an ally player with a “!” marker over their head -while spawns are randomized per match, the category of weapon that spawns is always consistent for a location. Active Camo-cloaked players/foes leave visible footprints onto the ground. The Repulsor can kill enemies if your target is posted a little ways from a wall- and you get in range to have full effect for a mighty push. The settings of Halo: Infinite allow customization of HUD elements, such as Friend & Foe's shields, and tuning them can help you discern vulnerable targets easier.
One that is a really helpful UI adjustment is to change enemy team to a different brighter color. I personally use yellow and people pop out way more than red. Its a really nice visual adjustment rather than the standard, and can give you a little bit more of an edge IMO. Obliviously YMMV.
Pro tip you missed with the grapple (same thing applies without the grapple, but is less noticable): Jump (or sprint jump), then grapple in front of you, and when you are about to hit the ground, crouch slide. You'll move faster at the end of the natural boost from the grapple because of the lowered friction of sliding. Combine with the mentioned jump at the end to keep that momentum as being in the air gives you that same low friction. tl;dr Sprint > Jump > Slide > Jump instead of Sprint > Slide > Jump. Jump > Grapple > Slide > Jump to literally double your distance from grappling.
HALO infinite is my first HALO playing in PC coming from CSGO. Thanks so much giving us a RUNDOWN all the history and PROS/CONS of the WEAPONS/PVP topics! Cheers!
There is actually another movement tech aside from the run-slide-jump, the run-jump-slide-jump. This is pulled off by running, jumping, crouching before landing(not at the time of landing), then jumping immediately on impact. It launches you farther than the normal jump, and maintains momentum longer.
Id like to add in from personal experience that 2 shots from the shock rifle (Electrical Sniper) will EMP a vehicle also. Tested successfully at Half-Map distances. Full map distance unknown. So far, works on wasp. Other vehicles yet to witness, but assuming it has to. Once had an enemy wasp shooting my teams spawn, so just decided to shoot him with watever i had. I just happened to have a Shock rifle. After 2 hits, it fell out of the air temporarily. Long enough to grapple it.
I'm hoping the radar gets increased to 20/25 metres on Dec 8th. 343 did say they were changing the radar back to the old style on release, but we'll see. Fingers crossed.
you can change vehicle seat by pressing q on mkb or jump on controller, super useful when taking over enemy warthog, as you can switch from gunner to passenger and whack the driver. Or when youre driving the thog and your gunner is down, switch seats and make a last stand.
I really like your gameplay footage. No unrealistic five sniper headshots in a row. Regardless of the great tips, you've shown me that a sniper can be a good weapon to use even when not camping. Your method of having it out and attempting to get a single shot of heavy damage in before the proper engagement begins looks like a really effective strategy to try out and you've shown that missing a sniper shot is not the end of the world.
You can use the repulser ability as a movement buff. Look down, jump, and launch. You can also use it to launch low health enemies into walls for a kill.
RE: weapon switching. Another RUclipsr did a video that shows it's actually faster to DROP the empty weapon. You'll automatically switch to your backup and save about one second, which could mean the difference between life and death.
The major thing holding me back from enjoying Infinite is that the aiming feels off for controller, and I played all of the old halo campaigns on legendary in prep for this so it's not just me being used to destiny's high aim assist/bullet magnitism
I was so off too but have you checked the dead zone settings? It starts off at *12*! It always felt slow or sluggish to me but after I set it to 0.5 i felt so much better
@@firewielder8548 I've messed with those a bit but I haven't messed around with them enough to know what I like an what works, and I find it hard to have the drive to figure it out. I shouldn't have to mess with the deadzones in the first place...
You're not the only one. I've changed the settings but it still feels inconsistent. I definitely don't have great aim but I've heard others complaining about it too. I guess I'm used to destiny's smooth aiming and movement. In halo you have to sacrifice look sensitivity so you can aim more accurately
first thing i did was change deadzone to 0 (my controller has no drift yet) and it felt so much better... will probably set them to 0.5 or 1 just for consistency... but mostly i play M+K anyway. The game doesn't feel like it was made to handle M+K very well though... definitely feels more natural on controller, but i've not used a controller for shooters since like... ODST? literally back in my university days nearly a decade ago... so it'll take some time before i feel confident using controller again for shooters lol.
Kind of sucks that accuracy is only rewarded once the shields are down. If I am accurate enough to land headshots, the shield should take more damage and I should be able to be rewarded for that.
late comment, but: love the 'scan to display equipment/weapon spawn boxes/etc'. as a newbie just starting to get gud (again) at halo, this is fantastic game-dev innovation that gets baddies like me at least on the right track/and removes 'rote memorization of a map' as such a powerful X factor.
Watched your two Halo videos and they were so good I wish I played Destiny so I could watch your other content. Expertly nailing both the content and humour.
I feel it I was playing Halo 2 heavy when it came out and thought it can never be better than that era! Fast forward to Halo Infinite and there are 20 + weapons and 4 grenade types and I love this new Halo game far more! Also the multiplayer has more game types
Similar to the dynamo grenade, a shock rifle can emp a vehicle with two shots. Useful for those big team battle games for dealing with tanks or air vehicles.
All these things are awesome, but god I have hated sniper glare since the first time I'd ever seen it, it's the dumbest thing. Oh hey, I'm crouched, hidden in the shadow, ready to snipe someone, HERE I AM GUYS, SEE MY LIGHT, IM RIGHT HERE, SEE, HERE. What? lol
Great video man , I learned a couple things 😊. I would add a couple tips for trying to get better myself too. 1 most important either find dedicated friends to consistently play with which will eliminate the chances of having unskilled unresponsive random teammates, or join me in my conquest to somehow get 343 to make free for all and ranked ffa dedicated playlists so you can consistently test your skills without the handicap of skilled or not skilled teammates. 2 learn the weapon sandbox and become as skilled as you can with it. Being a player who is only good with the Assault rifle because of its large reticle will put you at a serious disadvantage if other players are good at using weapons like the shock rifle or sniper. Also knowing the function and purpose of all the weapons will make you more efficient overall. This leads me to 3, spend time training in weapon drills or bot boot camp to have a steady progression of your skills with reasonable difficulty vs breaking your back trying to snipe people in ranked or even social, because the skill based match making means that at least 60 to 70% your going to be playing against formidable resistance. 4 and I think this is the second most important one is to train your movement, once you have developed the skill to throw strafing, crouches, or jumps into your firefights you will quickly become more deadly and safe than so many other players. Take note that this is much easier said then done though. 5 id say would be to train yourself to be aware of what equipment you have at all times and train yourself to start to make good use of all the equipment, once again it will make you much more deadly and safe.
When the enemy is in cloak, the sniper rifle can reveal their location. The scope when not zoomed in can detect enemies in cloak. They will appear in the sniper scope either in green or blue.
Fallout grapples flag, WHAT!? Gonna use that next game Also pay attention to where you and your teammates spawn during oddball, usually where your allies are spawning will be where the game sees less enemies and deems it safe, if you're traveling to avoid enemies go to those areas, you can also tell when you're warthog is about to blow when it sounds like somebody hit the turbo
Also if you feel that the gun is kinda in your way and you can hardly see anything like I did go to your settings>UI>weapon offset for rifle and heavy put vertical offset to -100% and depth offset to -100% really helps out a lot
I just jumped into an online game and I haven’t played halo since I had it on the 360. Got my ass kicked in, came straight to this video and feel a lot better equipped. Thanks.
Similar story here. Used to top games a lot back when halo 3 was new, and I was 15 or 16. Thought I would maintain some of those skills, but now I’m barely in the top half. Been avoiding multiplayer because of this. About to watch this now.
Just started playing: -People are so much faster than me. Idk how. - I see someone go from running behind a corner to being behind me in 2 fucking seconds - my grenades no matter what I do always are avoided and I get shit on by them -every single person is far better.
I just wanted to say thanks! I picked it up to play with my friends but I’ve been embarrassed about how sh*t I’ve played. This video was clutch and (I know this seems obvious yet a bunch of other videos didn’t do it) but including the actual video of what you are talking about is so incredibly helpful
Biggest tip: the pulse carbine (burst plasma gun) is not as terrible as it seems. It's actually my favorite gun now that I know how it works. In close range combat its terrible but medium and especially long range it's the quickest killing non-power weapon I know. The plasma bursts track the target when there's distance between you and 3 bursts can obliterate a fully shielded enemy. Try it out for yourselves.
I have one addition/correction. If you get hit by a grenade, you should ignore the damage indicator. If someone bounces it off the wall behind you, the indicator will be behind you even though the enemy is probably nowhere close. That always throws me off
Really not worth saying, I wonder what you assume the average intelligence level of someone playing these games is People might be new to Halo, but its very rare someone is new to FPS if they chose to try this - it's literally just common sense that the damage received from a grenade is going to come from the grenade itself and not the player who threw it Sorry for the big post, but I can't get over why you felt the need to mention this
The run slide jump technique was something i used to use in black ops 3. Except if you got the timing right you could go rigjt back into sliding after you jump giving you and endless jump and slide, faster than sprinting and jumping/sliding doesnt steal stamina, so more saved for holding breathe in sniper engagements.
The razorback can attach flags and stockpile blocks. Also, you should teach people how to play stockpile, how they can throw the blocks like a water brigade back home. How they can still the enemies blocks by flanking them.
The repulsor can also send back grenades, so if you’re in a bind and people are pinning you with grenades punch them back and toss your own afterwards for a quick finish.
Watching this while downloading the game. Thanks a lot! You covered a lot of stuff I would not have intuitively known/noticed. As a dumb guy who likes to shoot stuff with veteran Halo friends who are way better than me this is gonna really help me not be a n00b.
Please don't get off vehicles to switch seats... There's a button for that now. Check tour key bindings Spike nades in door frames = deathly. Spike naded will also detonate mid air if thrown too far away so not good for long range. For acrive camo: if you suspect someone's got it and might be around, keep an eye on the ground. Example is water spalshing of they are walking over puddles. I dont know the name of the weapons, but the energy pistol and the energy sniper can have EMP effects. The energy pisto is also semi-automatic. The repulsor can also be used to push things away like granades, WRAITH shots, some objectives (flag only if it's not in the flag spawn stand), energy coils, etc. You can shoot and destroy dynamo granades and the radar thingy. The grappler will also deactivate your active camo, as if you were running... Riding vehicles or junping onto power liftd too. While using active camo, you are also able to run with the flag without being seen
When using weapons with projectile tracking (needler pulse carbine and plasma pistol) the reticle must be red to track an enemy. If the reticle is white even though it is on the enemy it will not track
If you are teamshotting an enemy it can be worth to aim at the head, if theyre already low on shields you could finish them off, but yah on full health aim for body first
Instead of doing the drop-slide video it would be cooler to direct people to Shyway’s video on it. He’s THE Halo mobility guy, and his channel deserves more engagement than it’s got.
Lol always love to watch these tips and tricks to play better videos, just to see what people know. The thin red line is blue a lot of time if you play solo..... nades are super easy to use and be effective

Makes perfect sense that you'd ping from a weapon firing and not a grenade being thrown. One is silent :)
What i WILL say about dropping and sprinting the flag is everytime you pick it up no matter line of sight you get noticed by the enemy.
You can also use Active Camo before picking up a flag or oddball to be invisible with them, also can use overshield before camo to have double buff
That's cool that he promotes another game right in the video, RUclipsrs are valuable
5:40. Tell that to the Spartans yelling, "Over yonder"
HALO infinite is my first HALO playing in PC coming from CSGO. Thanks so much giving us a RUNDOWN all the history and PROS/CONS of the WEAPONS/PVP topics! Cheers!
GLAD you LIKED it!
“Gargantuan Chad energy” made me cringe super hard. That being said, great video! 😂
There is actually another movement tech aside from the run-slide-jump, the run-jump-slide-jump. This is pulled off by running, jumping, crouching before landing(not at the time of landing), then jumping immediately on impact. It launches you farther than the normal jump, and maintains momentum longer.
Another point about the radar, I will glow brighter if enemies are on the same vertical axis as you
Id like to add in from personal experience that 2 shots from the shock rifle (Electrical Sniper) will EMP a vehicle also.
The only halo I really played other than infinite was halo 4. What is the old style radar you speak of?
@@VergilPeterson the current radar is the shortest range it has ever had im pretty sure
I like how your friend couldn’t help but get a cheeky shot off at you when you were demonstrating the drop wall weakness, haha.
you can change vehicle seat by pressing q on mkb or jump on controller, super useful when taking over enemy warthog, as you can switch from gunner to passenger and whack the driver.
Go down like a Spartan. Don’t stop putting shots on a Spartan till they put you down, that’s halo.
You can use the repulser ability as a movement buff. Look down, jump, and launch.
You can also use it to launch low health enemies into walls for a kill.
Watch the video before you comment
That run slide and jump mechanic works the exact same way as in Warframe
Set the FOV to 100/120 and all of the look sensitivities on 0. Feels a lot more like halo.
do more halo infinite guides its very usefull for me, i'm newbie
Kind of sucks that accuracy is only rewarded once the shields are down. If I am accurate enough to land headshots, the shield should take more damage and I should be able to be rewarded for that.
Ditching a weapon can also save you from projectile weapons, like the Skewer, if timed correctly.
I've saved myself by ditching a stuck weapon
This worked in past halos if you swapped with a gun on the ground too
late comment, but: love the 'scan to display equipment/weapon spawn boxes/etc'. as a newbie just starting to get gud (again) at halo, this is fantastic game-dev innovation that gets baddies like me at least on the right track/and removes 'rote memorization of a map' as such a powerful X factor.
another movement tip: if u hold sprint then jump and hold crouch in the air to slide while landing on a downwards slope u'll be sent flying
Watched your two Halo videos and they were so good I wish I played Destiny so I could watch your other content. Expertly nailing both the content and humour.
The map callout tip is so useful, I never even noticed the names of map areas at the bottom of my screen.
This game is so fun. I haven't had this much fun playing Xbox since Halo 2/3.
Useful for those big team battle games for dealing with tanks or air vehicles.
if a enemy isn't showing red on the sight aim a little further from there head
All these things are awesome, but god I have hated sniper glare since the first time I'd ever seen it, it's the dumbest thing. Oh hey, I'm crouched, hidden in the shadow, ready to snipe someone, HERE I AM GUYS, SEE MY LIGHT, IM RIGHT HERE, SEE, HERE. What? lol
I liked your vid. Alot of people record their games and talk over them. Your vid actually shows an example of what your tip was. Thank you!
You can use the repulsor to juggle the flag more effectively
I wish the AI Scan would scan available items as Yellow, then blue while it recharges the next weapon
Great video as usual! I got matched with you last night in quick play!
That ghost tip, yeah it works with the wasp as well.
that last tip is applicable to all vehicles. Also, standing on a buddy's vehicle with the flag is treated the same as standing in place with the flag
I used to play the original Halo games on Xbox Live, but this was helpful to understand more of the new mechanics.
Would really love a lone wolves playlist. No shitty teammates to drag you down 😁
Another tip, while you can grapple thrown coils, you can also just catch them and not waste the grapple
This really helped me play the game so much better understanding the buttons and info has boosted my play so much thank u my dude
This video deserves as much as expossure as possible, great tips as always Mr. Plays!
When the enemy is in cloak, the sniper rifle can reveal their location. The scope when not zoomed in can detect enemies in cloak. They will appear in the sniper scope either in green or blue.
one thing ive noticed is obvious but soooo nice. The side kick in particular is less than half reload time if you dont empty the clip
Amazing info! Subscribed! Can you do information on the power ups and how they work such as the repulsors?
Fallout grapples flag, WHAT!? Gonna use that next game
Also pay attention to where you and your teammates spawn during oddball, usually where your allies are spawning will be where the game sees less enemies and deems it safe, if you're traveling to avoid enemies go to those areas, you can also tell when you're warthog is about to blow when it sounds like somebody hit the turbo
Also if you feel that the gun is kinda in your way and you can hardly see anything like I did go to your settings>UI>weapon offset for rifle and heavy put vertical offset to -100% and depth offset to -100% really helps out a lot
You can also ride the wasps. Took 3 team mates up to the top of the map and flew them over to air drop them on the enemy base one game.
Just started playing:
-People are so much faster than me. Idk how.
- I see someone go from running behind a corner to being behind me in 2 fucking seconds
- my grenades no matter what I do always are avoided and I get shit on by them
-every single person is far better.
i just started playing with my friend yesterday and we’re getting into lobbies with insane players. SBMM seems to not work on this game unfortunately
That always throws me off
Same for any explosive or bouncing projectile in the game
Really not worth saying, I wonder what you assume the average intelligence level of someone playing these games is
People might be new to Halo, but its very rare someone is new to FPS if they chose to try this - it's literally just common sense that the damage received from a grenade is going to come from the grenade itself and not the player who threw it
Sorry for the big post, but I can't get over why you felt the need to mention this
"Great googly moogly"
You have my sub sir😂😂
Quick amendment to #18.
Swapping weapons is faster than reloading but dropping a weapon is even faster than swapping.
How they can still the enemies blocks by flanking them.
you can also launch the blocks with a repulsor. Just throw then repulsor after :)
The repulsor can also send back grenades, so if you’re in a bind and people are pinning you with grenades punch them back and toss your own afterwards for a quick finish.
I'd also add that switching to the sidekick is particularly fast. That thing is designed as a dedicated backup weapon.
Watching this while downloading the game. Thanks a lot! You covered a lot of stuff I would not have intuitively known/noticed. As a dumb guy who likes to shoot stuff with veteran Halo friends who are way better than me this is gonna really help me not be a n00b.
Haven’t played Halo since ODST. Just installed and looking forward to it. Hopefully it’s still great!
It’s just as addicting as the earlier Halo games!
Thanks for the video! Haven’t played Halo since Reach and this is a great refresher and new info for someone coming back
Totally that guy not knowing my location on the maps… screaming over here! Haha. Thanks for tips. Big help to a part time player!
#1 tip. You can shoot grenades. If it's still in there hand it's am assisted suicide so 2 point conversion.
Dude...subbed. FANTASTIC video lol. I went into Halo Infinite running and gunning like OG Halo. This helped me take a step back and rethink that lol
Please don't get off vehicles to switch seats... There's a button for that now. Check tour key bindings
Spike nades in door frames = deathly.
9:55 No ping with grenades makes sense since it's the sound that triggers the ping. Throwing a grenade just isn't as loud as firing a gun.
Using the thruster equipment into melee, is a really strong defensive strat in objective games such as capture the flag.
I haven’t played since Halo CE for Windows definitely looking forward to trying
Learned a few new tips watching this video, thanks.
If you are teamshotting an enemy it can be worth to aim at the head, if theyre already low on shields you could finish them off, but yah on full health aim for body first
Run slide jump is awesome. Thank you
Instead of doing the drop-slide video it would be cooler to direct people to Shyway’s video on it. He’s THE Halo mobility guy, and his channel deserves more engagement than it’s got.
I'm here for Daddy Fallout, not randos
Shyway is super helpful
Lol always love to watch these tips and tricks to play better videos, just to see what people know. The thin red line is blue a lot of time if you play solo..... nades are super easy to use and be effective
