“I’m gonna keep this brief cuz i realize this video already has way too much information “ no my dude, I play mnk but this type of content is gold for the HI community. helps people reach a higher level of skill/confidence. this is awesome
Great content. Patience in Halo, just to name a few, is: knowing when you don't have player number advantage and waiting for your teammates before making a play. Not chasing or rechallenging one shots if it puts you in a vulnerable position. Holding power positions with good lines of sight even if you don't see someone immediately. Letting your shield recharge fully. Sometimes Not shooting your gun when behind enemy lines. Controlling the map and living just for a power up/weapon. Timing attacks with camo. Not getting frustrated with bad teammates. Letting them strafe into your reticle. Not making over adjustments. And some other shit. 😅
So much of this advice towards the end regarding watching pros and pretending you are them, and thinking about their divisions and why is so valuable not only for halo but for learning in general.
Thank you skyway! I 1000% want coaching, I’ve played nearly everyday since launch and want to step my game up even more. Been robbed of onyx to many times due to either my bad habits and also well…. game crashing. The game deserves more work from the studio and more love from the fans if they just see the potential this halo can bring to future halos.
Patience in halo is going for crosses, not kills. Especially objective, but even in slayer, setting up crosses with your teammates to cutoff key lanes instead of pushing to get that 1 extra kill or when you're outnumbered 3 - 1. Takes map awareness, takes coordinated teammates, sometimes takes letting your teammate get the final shot, but when its locked in, its awesome. Obviously a more defensive strategy, so it wont work for everything.
About confidence you’re getting into what separates the good vs the greats : the inner game ! I suggest you go read « the inner game of tennis » by timothy gallwey (or smthg like that), I think he also wrote the « inner game of golf », don’t know which one would fit esports better but in any case it’s worth it. It will teach you how to consciously increase your « in the zone » moments. For anyone considering playing tournaments this is a must IMO, and it’s a great read just because it says so much about how we function as humans.
Luke the notable used to do a series where he would react to a full games footage from theatre that players could send in, and he would give tips and analyze their gameplay. I think you could put an amazing and much needed spin on this idea
Thank you, even as a Keyboard and Mouse player this is super helpful especially the inclusion of Leading with your Eyes and the video edits to provide a visual.
Dude! Forget that moral panic and your recent luck with it! Best wishes to you moving forward with this stuff. Hcs's loss! You may only have moments with your aim but u are a god like tutor! 😉 And I'm a huge fan, thank you very much and I recommend more people to be 👏
Absolute gold good sir! Finally someone explaining what you called “micro-adjustments”. I’ve searched and searched for those exact details. Very well done and powerful. Thank you!
And YES, I would personally love to see more of this type of information from you. Your pov is very much your own and I see you are touching on what many attempt but the way you lay it out is as I said, powerful.
Shyway, thanks for the amazing content. I wish I had the time and patience to create like this. The only extra things I would add are to practice keeping your hands "loose" while aiming to prevent tense lock, and also try not to pin the right stick all the way to the edge while in a gunfight. To further the intentional point, I keep myself in this zone by only pulling the right trigger when my aim is on the enemy. Duh, right? But no, too many people fall into a rhythm especially with the BR and simply pull in a cadence. Finally breathing is very important. In through nose, out through mouth, and do not stop breathing in a gunfight. Having good posture really helps with this. I try to keep the back of my shoulders touching the chair at all times. Gamer slouch limits oxygen and also causes shoulder/neck fatigue which can keep you out of the flow state. Lucid is a good example. This can take a while to relearn as how you lay your wrists/forearms on your legs will probably change and mess with muscle memory.
Fantastic video. The academy and bots have made a huge difference in my ability to train my aim. Lots of great advice to practice and improve. Thanks Shyway!
Any possible way you could post pictures of just your settings? I'm visual and all the sweet sweet numbers are covered by your camera haha. Love the video though thank you Shyway!
Shyway love your content man, we can all see the passion you have. but hey I REALLY enjoyed the video where you broke down the FAZE VS OPTIC match. I would love to see more of that content
This vid was AWESOME! I learned things I never knew even as a long time halo player myself. Keep this sort of content coming and good on starting a Patreon. I’m always willing to support good content creation!
This was such a great video! This is useful to all tiers of players. I loved the way everything was explained, things I unconsciously do in game translated into words! Thank you!
I’m new to your channel but am a halo vet.. I just started playing halo infinite again since release & they changed things a lot.. this video is giving me a lot of insight.
@Shyway awesome content as always friend. This video was perfect timing for me. I've been really second guessing my ability and my gameplay and have been really losing the mental game haha
As always, very informative! Keep up the great work! I am by no means a good Halo player but I have found over the years that my aim in general, not just Halo, has improved because of Halo. Playing this franchise and watching the pro's has made me adapt and think more about my shots, placement and predictions. Because of the longer ttk in Halo hitting as many of your shots is even more important to get that kill. And while some techniques are Halo specific,a lot of them are useful in other shooters as well. But Halo is still my go-to shooter though. It just feels so good to play, nothing compares. I feel like Halo requires skill. It's not as easy to pick up and play like say Cod, and that might be frustrating for a new player to get like 2 kills and 16 deaths, but if you stick with it you will learn so much and become a better fps gamer in general.
Just watched this for like the forth time I think this could be the best clear concise and comprehensive and educational Halo aim video I have ever seen I am struggling to think of a better one.. 👏
I'm a little late to this video but it's great advice! Patience in Halo is comparable to poker IMO. You see it when the pros get ahold of a sniper and get engaged with a BR, it's like having a royal flush and trying to get someone with trips to overplay their hand. The pros don't get flustered, they stay calm and wait for that reticle to flash red when he strafes into it.
My struggle is movement. I know that I can strafe in a variety of directions. When im in a gunfight, I panic and I forget to do it 😅. I also am emotionally involved. When I get killed at an odd angle, I get mad. Training myself to move on quickly and focused on the next encounter is more ideal.
Funny enough, the one question I have has nothing to do with the aiming but with the sliding. I know how to drop slide and all that, but how are you executing them so quick? It's almost like you're snapping to the ground the instant you leave the edge of an object with an insane velocity. It looks useful for getting around the map super fast. Not to mention the fact that it looks absolutely sick. 😎
IMO, I think i'm lacking in managing micro adjustments and most importantly my confidence :( Even my friends who I play with have noticed these, especially the last one. Thanks for the video, gonna keep them in mind!
Watching this essentially solidifies that ill never be good at Infinite. I could figure this stuff out semi-decent in H5, but i cannot even begin to figure this out on Infinite. IDK what it is, but i just suck at this one lol. Overall though, great video as always Shyway 😁. Keep it up man 🤘
As a K&M player this was a weird experience. You mostly talked from a controller perspective, but there were still some good tips that applied to both. I've realized patience is really helpful for aiming. It helps with all the thinking you have been talking about, since you have more time to think if you're patient. Also, if you take your time to aim, you may be more likely to die (especially if the enemy aim is really good) but you are also more likely to hit shots you take. This makes your muscle memory better and helps a lot with precision weapons where you only need to hit a few shots.
What I do to practice right stick aiming is to go the range and solely use the right stick and trigger. I also just follow the targets without shooting with the right stick.I leave the left stick out altogether that’s how I got accustomed to the sensitivity.
Absolutely awesome video with fantastic tips. As someone who is looking to getting back into Halo, this just pushed me to reinstall the game and have more fun in infinite. Ty 🙏🏽
Excellent video I loved when you explained the benefit of aiming with your movement. I learned that from halo 5 with your videos and others. I use both sticks depending on the situation consistently getting 56 60 percent accuracy but with this information I can finally dial my settings down.
To get zero acceleration/thresholds. Recon inverted hold to crouch hold to sprint maintain sprint OFF whala 😮. X is zoom toggle and sprint. So you gotta turn maintain sprint off at that point because if you don't you get blurry uncrouched going back and forth 5x to 10x with the scope. 😅
Thanks man i have improved in my aim i got a question when i play ranked i play good getting a good kda sometimes getting more kills in the lobby but i still lose in slayer i win most of the matches but like in ctf or odd ball i always lose do you have any tips to improve in objective modes

One of the best aim videos to date Shyway, real in-depth, and thanks for bringing up your battle beaver placements like I asked on stream a week ago
