You can also deconstruct and use Dollar Tree leashes and collars for sewing projects...I use the leashes for tote handles and then the collars I deconstruct for the hardware...Happy Sewing!!
i hadn't thought of that ! Believe it or not I deconstruct bags I find at Goodwill for the hardware. The Older the bag the more fun the hardware. never thought of Dollar tree Salvaging till now LOL
@@debidiaz6569 I also deconstruct the small backpacks to use the zippers and material for pocket liners...and yes, I shop at the local Thrift Store for purse/pouch hardware as well!! I love a good Scavenger Hunt!! Happy Sewing!!
Oh-My Goodess!! That set is CUTE!!! got to make some!!! Just found you on RUclips, so glad I did, you exude sunshine and kindness, keep the projects coming!
@@bettykroll and a fork. Use it to hold the zipper pull in place between the tines, facing away from me. Then I put the handle of the fork against my chest or belly, load the zipper ends in and pull down on them.
When you said “Look at that bandana that’s cute” I laughed out loud because you sounded just like me when I am on an adventure looking thru my stuff 😂😂😂
Great project! I love how you use pieces from other items to create your vision. I save all the heavy clear plastic zipper bags that bedding and linens come in. My family thinks I am crazy, cheap, a hoarder of trash, and the list goes on. It literally makes my heart warm when I give them a homemade gift and they love it. Sometimes I even tell them what trash I used to make it! LOL Recycle/Upcycle is my motto...
Thank you for taking us ALONG on your template making journey. ❤ when you discovered the zipper stoppers in your Amazon pack. Half-expected you to smash your thumb after that mishap with the electric kettle. You're so cute!
I can’t tell you how much I needed to hear your positivity. I’m in a mental funk and it was so nice and reminded me sometimes I just need a little accomplishment. ❤
Your attitude on “if it fails, it fails” has helped me so much! I was so afraid to try new materials and trying to make different things. Now I use your attitude, and try! Doesn’t always work but I change it to make something else ! Thank you so much! Love your tutorials!
I am so much the same way!! I don’t like scary or sad movies either. Your lanyard is cute. I am loving these dish drying mat creations!! TFS. Your tutorials are so wonderful!
This is fabulous. My new addiction is dish mat bags and such so keep the ideas coming. Went shopping and came home with a ridiculous amount of dish mats. Yay! To the sewing room I go
I was in Ross recently and they had some gorgeous dish mats . They were a little pricier than the DT but not as pricey as the big box stores. ❤ Love your videos!
I’ve been making 50 lanyards a year for our quilt guild retreat for many years, and have never seen how you join the edges. Love it. It will make this year’s job so much easier. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you for this(and all the other videos). I went out and got supplies to make my daughter (she's a freshman in college) one to hold her dorm swipe card, so she doesn't always have to take it out, and the zipper pouch holds her meal card and room key perfectly with room to hold whatever else. You are absolutely amazing! And thank you for instilling confidence is us 👍😊🥰
I found a clear plastic sort of purse organization at Dollar Tree that would make several windows, and it even has a zipper that I used on a makeup bag!!
I’ve worn lanyards a lot at work. Add to your notes for future projects to sew the lanyard like you do when you make binding for quilts. It will debunk that strap so it doesn’t rub on your neck.
I'm going to make that I got all the materials like you did from the Dollar tree I was surprised that I found them I hope mine turns out as good as yours those are cute I thought about making the pumpkins too thank you and keep doing what you're doing you're a good sewer for showing us these ideas God bless
I love your Barney Bag! I definitely remember the song! I actually went to a Dollar Tree in search of the dish mats! I bought several and am excited to make a bags! I may have to go back and get more to make this little project! It’s super cute!❤
Great ideas. Thanks for sharing. If your plastic doesn’t last clear vinyl on the roll in the fabric store is pretty strong. I use it to protect my books.
Chelsea FYI if you use a coffee filter sew over the plastic the needle holes will go thru the paper filter first so when you remove the filter it will have no hole marks in the plastic.. Little of work but so worth it..
O Mylanta! This is the cutest little project. This is a perfect project for leftover quilt scraps as well. Thank you so much for the encouragement and tutorial.
I absolutely love that you use parts from other items and come up with such beautiful pieces!! I’m definitely heading to dollar tree today so I can made one of these. You’re such a joy to watch and remind me of myself, I’m a self taught sewer and have made a ton of things by just diving in and trying it. Thanks
It turned out so stinking cute! Thinking I’ll may make a few for gifts. Speaking of sewing your finger … I use to sew w/o breaks, start to finish (formals, etc). I just hated leaving it unfinished. Yes, I’m ADD. So depending on how detailed it was, there were times I sewed more than 24 hrs at a time. One time I was so tired, I actually sewed several stitches into my index finger nail before it registered. Not fun! 🤦♀️ LOL
I'm new to this channel and have become obsessed. You are a hook and such an inspiration. I learned to sew in high school and sort of gave it up in my 30s. You have sparked my interest again. Back to binge watching your channel 😅
So cute ! ! ! I love looking at all your sewing videos ! I wondered if you could do some more projects using the clear plastic. Also, since school has started maybe you would consider doing a book cover tutorial using dollar tree fat quarters or some other dollar tree item?
Love it! Very cute! I’ve tried a few lanyards need to get the length right still working on that. My daughter’s friend who is going to nursing school wanted a pen pocket or pen pouch to attach to the lanyard. Again I’ve tried several different ways but still having a little trouble sizing them correctly and centering the tab for attaching the lanyard. 🙄 but I keep trying. Thanks for your videos.
Super cute, great job. Nurses would also benefit from breakaway lanyards for safety. And as a nurse, I'd say I would pull the needle out of my finger if I sewed through it, unless maybe I happened to sew through bone. But, yes, you'll need a tetanus booster cause you need one about every 7-10yrs anyhow. These materials would make cute luggage tags as well! ❤
I didn't think it was possible to sew through your finger on a domestic sewing machine. When you said go to the ER I was laughing. My Mom and my Dad had sewn through their fingers using his upholstery sewing machine. But never went to the ER. They used a pair of pliers and pulled it. Probably put a little rubbing alcohol on it. My Dad's rule was 'Don't bleed on the material-so back to work as soon as the bleeding stopped
I wish you were my neighbor, friend or sewing buddy..I love the way your mind works. What fun we could have. Thanks for your time making these videos.
That would be cool!
I wish the same!❤ She is so fun and lively!😊
Find me a house in your neighborhood, too!!!!
Me too, ❤your videos. Western Australia don’t have dollar store

I was thinking the same thing.

So cute! I now regret tossing those vinyl zipper bags that bedding came in over the years. 🙃
You could use Velcro on the lanyard to make it “breakaway”.
