Love, love, love that you give us people a different option for materials other than going to Joann's or Hobby Lobby....keep these tutorials coming and thank you for sharing❤️your the best
I'm so glad I found your channel. I will be going in the Hospital in the next few weeks for brain surgery. They found 2 tumors. So I will be looking at your videos. I'm over 65 and love to craft and sew. But my head has been hurting so much lately. Your voice is very good to listen too.
I'm so sorry about the surgery. My mom had a tumor above one of her eyes that would affect her smell and taste. The good part about it was that they were able to go up through her nose and deal with that way. Yes, she did lose her taste and smell. But COVID did the same thing 😂. I'll say a little prayer for you, if that's okay and I am with you. I am joining her videos as well.
Best of luck to you! Take a pretty little note book and a bright fun pen so you can make notes about the projects you want to make when you feel better.😘 ❤❤
Thank you so much for showing us how to practice our sewing skills without breaking the bank AND having a cute bag! I'm from France and we have a similar store like dollar tree which has the same products you use and it made it so easy to follow your tutorials!🥰❤️
You are so sweet on your videos. You explain everything simply and directly to we beginners. You have the greatest laugh and obviously show your joy with sewing.
I came up your channel and can't stop watching! You are an absolute sewing genius! I wish I had found you before I made a bunch of totes and zipper pouches, it would have saved me a ton of $$. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of sewing on a budget! especially nowadays. Your ideas and techniques are second to none. Now I'll using my walking foot too! Keep the videos coming!!!
That bag is awesome, I love it! You’re a genius❤ A large button with a loop closure might be cute at the top, especially if you like your bag with a closure ( just a thought ). I love love love your channel! You’re so much fun to watch. Have a blessed day!
Chelsea…. When I watch your videos. …. Not only do I want to go to the dollar store but I want to pack up my machine and have a sewing day with you.. lol. Thanks for your videos!
Oh, just thought about it and you could use an old "team" or 'event" shirt for the outside fabric too! That would really personalize it for a gift too.
I can see that tote being used as a library bag. If you take kids to the library regularly during the summer, it’s a great bag for carrying books to and from. 😊
I just discovered you on RUclips. I SEW love that you aren't critical of yourself. I was raised to think, "...if you can't do anything perfectly you shouldn't be doing it..." You are SUNSHINE to me! I subscribed and will be following you ❤
Thanks Chelsea - I love making bags. I’ve thrifted a lot of vintage fabric over the years to make my bags. I like the way you did the pocket, running the straps up the sides over the raw edges of the pocket. Also, using the walking foot as a guide to quilt the bag. I try to think outside the box as far as what I use for fabric. Thrift stores often have beautiful pillow shams for $2.00, sheets, curtains, clothes….nothing is off limits to cut up and make useful pretty things. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos.~ Abby
Deborah....saw your post, and have prayed, and will continue to pray for you and your family! Doctors, nurses, every single person involved in your care is covered in Jesus name. Don't be afraid! He's already been there! Keep us posted!
I saw your last tote video. I used it as inspiration to make a mini tote bag from one dish mat folded in half. It's a tote for hand sewing class for 7-10 year old students. I brought it to one class already. They were very excited & most finished their tote in one 1 hour class! Thanks so very much!
You are so adorable! I love your dish drying mat bags, I finally purchased some cute dish drying mats, I don't have a Dollar Tree nearby, the Family Dollar stores have a few drying mats but they aren't cute. I hit a Dollar General yesterday and found a few mats, I bought all they had, all 3 of them LOL... and some dish drying towels and a couple of gingham table runners to use as liners and pockets. When hubby saw the bag of stuff, he asked what it was, I told him, sewing stuff!
Such a well done video. I have watched many bag making tutorials, and made several bags. Your instructions were clear and fun. I especially noticed how you showed enough, but we didn't have to watch you sew all the seams. Great job!!
Hello, I'm so glad I found ur channel, you see the way I like to sew, for myself, not being perfect, but I'm a happy camper, relaxing in my sewing room, & playing with material, pins, and all the cool sewing gadgets. I've always loved Home Etc in school, yes yes! I'm showing my age, I'm 79 years young. And I'm gonna continue watching ur channel. Your truly blessed with knowledge ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad I found you! Love your teaching style and I appreciate all the details you share. I have now been to 3 Dollar Tree's and Hobby Lobby. Everyone is getting a bag for summer! Thank you for the project ideas and the smiles!
I saw one of your videos and immediately subscribed. I used a drying mat (thank you) folded like an envelope to teach my 8 year old granddaughter to hand stitch using a backstitch. We then sewed two buttons, one on the flap, the other on the envelope.with narrow seam binding to wrap around the buttons to close. She uses it to store all her markers, pens, pencils....for school. She loves it😊
I loved this video-could you or do you plan to make one of these with pockets on inside and outside and with a zipper?? I would use this bag as a craft bag for when I’m out and about🥰🥰
I thought the same, but I have never sewn one in a bag before…. I’d love that to be included in one of these tutorials! ! Even an elastic loop and a big button would be cute too!
I have already made several of your little drying mat bags and was also wondering how I could make it bigger. I love your style of bags and plan on making a few of these Big ones for grocery shopping as I am in Colorado, and we no longer can use plastic and paper bags are $.10 per bag. Thank you for sharing!
I just finished by bag. I really like it. i used dollar tree drying mats like yours. i used material i made out of "crumbs" and added two outside pockets. I followed your instructions and it was easy. it was hard on my machine but one stitch at a time...Love it out it turned out. i will email you pictures if ok. Thanks,
Been wanting to comment for a month or so! New seamstress here and it’s all because of you, Chelsea!! I am actually on my fifth, FIFTH, #5, bag!!! I’m having a blast! I’ve watched this video sooooo many times as I need it over and over and over for each and every carry bag I have made. I’m getting it down! You are an amazing instructor! So easy going that it gives me confidence! I don’t say this lightly either as I am a retired educator! Keep em comin! My next goal is to attempt zippers. EEK!
What a comfortable teacher you are ! I am passing your site along to a little young friend who is a beginning sewist. She wants to start her own business with limited resources . Using dollar tree sink mats is brilliant! That foam stuff is expensive !
I just want to warn folks not to use any foam mat material in a microwave. Some may try making bowl cozies. Those bowl cozies are very popular. But , they must be lined with 100% cotton. Even then I am wary of starting a fire. 🔥 So,, I never put them in the microwave. Any gifts I give have express warning tags to not use in the microwave.
Sewing group at cancer house or getting with friends to sew projects and a grocery bag. overnight bag. I knew when I watched the other bag tutorial 2 days ago would make this wonderful size bag.
Love your videos, you are genuine and a pleasure to both watch and listen to, I like this format more, i.e., the full screen filming--- not the ones where you are using just your phone --- I think, but not a techie so may be wrong. Keep up the great work.
My name is Tanya and I am a tote-alcoholic! I love totes. Being confined to a wheelchair, I love different totes of almost any size, except really large ones. I love this size though. I use smaller ones on my armrests to hold my drinks and etc.
You are simply amazing! you are funny kind and bring joy to all of us.. I have made 4 of the littler ones. Now to shower and head to the $ store😂. Keep up your creativity for those of us are not brave.
That turned out so cute! I really like it and you made it look so easy to do. Also, I love your over-shirt, it's so pretty! (although I'd end up sewing my clothes into the bag somehow, because I've done it before, LOL)
It's great. Your wittiness is fun. Looks like you made your shirt sleeves from d.t. scarves. I bought a bunch, same print, so I could add to existing denim for a skirt. I pinned it a year and a half ago and that's where I left things. 😂
I am new to your channel and so glad I found you. I just started my first bag from one of your videos about the dishmat bags. It's not from dishmats but it has inspired me to try.

I just found you. You are amazing. “Sew” creative. I will definitely tune in again and try you projects. P.S. love the top you are wearing over your t-shirt ♥️
In shopping totes I’ve made from quilting cottons, I leave the opening for “birthing” at the top, between the straps, and it gets closed off with my top stitch. It makes a nice clean look in the lining, but Is that even possible with this method ? (I make the lining and the exterior in 2 pieces, then put one inside the other…. I’m still learning and love all the ideas people have!
Love, love, love that you give us people a different option for materials other than going to Joann's or Hobby Lobby....keep these tutorials coming and thank you for sharing❤️your the best

Lucky me, I found your videos. I love that you go slow enough that I don't need to keep going back to watch again. Great ideas. Thank you
Awesome! Thank you!
I love your channel! You’re entertaining and have a lovely attitude. The makes are useful and easy to make. Don’t ever change. ❤️😁🌹

Great idea for the button/elastic closure. ❤
I feel a stop at Dollar Tree is in store for me on the way home from work! Great tutorial!
Have fun!
Using dish mats also takes the place of batting. Great idea.
Chelsea…. When I watch your videos. …. Not only do I want to go to the dollar store but I want to pack up my machine and have a sewing day with you.. lol. Thanks for your videos!
This bag would be great for shopping at ALDI which has become a weekly addiction😂
Oh, just thought about it and you could use an old "team" or 'event" shirt for the outside fabric too! That would really personalize it for a gift too.
Oooo I have an old concert T that doesn’t fit - this is exactly what I should do with it!
LOVE that idea!
LOL! Not all sewists have their crap together 😂 So true .
I love the bag,. I teach a quilt class in my home town. I would take my cutting mat and wool ironing mat and patterns and such with me. Thanks
I can see that tote being used as a library bag. If you take kids to the library regularly during the summer, it’s a great bag for carrying books to and from. 😊

Amen to that. God is the ultimate physician. He’s got this. He’s got you. 🙏
Love that vintage Kenmore in the background! That thing will sew through yardsticks if you needed too !
😂😂😂
Thanks for the great video. I didn't know that bar on the walking foot was for measuring 🤯

You could use that to put in things women or men could use when they go into shelters or for homeless people. Love your videos.
Just found you! I don’t see much anymore, but I just love this bag. Makes me want to make one! Turned out so perfect!! Thank you! 😊❤️😊
You are so welcome!
I just finished my watermelon bag. Love it with handles. Would love to send a picture. Don’t know how.
Shesewsseams@gmail.com ❤️❤️
I love this bag. I’d put a magnet snap inside to close.

This made my night!! Thank you for sharing and happy sewing!!!!
Dish mats are WAY less expensive than getting foam from JoAnn's or Bosal.
I have found my tribe! Thank you for sharing your joy, light, and talent. Is there a tutorial on when to use what foot?
I absolutely love your channel, thanks for sharing with us! Can you show how to make a bag like this with a small inside zipper pocket? Thanks 😊

Love it! Next time I go to the dollar tree, I'm going to get some dish mats. My husband's gonna look at me weird too! Lol
Love it!!
I was at dollar tree tonight and saw chair pads. I thought, I wonder what Chelsea could do with that? 😂
Oh I’ve got some! 🤭🤭🤭😂😂😂
@@shesewsseams how many should I grab 😂
Thanks for leaving the lining loose to be able to pull out and wash when needed ❤
Sewing group at cancer house or getting with friends to sew projects and a grocery bag. overnight bag. I knew when I watched the other bag tutorial 2 days ago would make this wonderful size bag.
Thank you. Great tutorial. I'm , anxious to make this bag. I use it to carry yarn projects..

I would give a bag like that to my son, who doesn't like the plastic bags, so he could do his shopping. He would love a really big bag like that.

Hi Tanya! Welcome!!
I'm a pouch-aholic myself! 😄 But I love totes, too!!
Thank you Chelsea! Love your top!
Thank you!!
Thank you for this video love that bag awesome idea with the dish mats so many possibilities❤
You are so welcome!
I love a bigger bag! Definitely a large project bag for crocheting. Love watching you.😊
Thank you! 😊
That's awesome 🎉 I love big bags, ty
You are simply amazing! you are funny kind and bring joy to all of us.. I have made 4 of the littler ones. Now to shower and head to the $ store😂. Keep up your creativity for those of us are not brave.
Thanks for the kind words!!
Beautiful project!
Thank you! 😊
Well, all the bags you did could be used as a baby bag. Or a gift quilt bag. So when you are gifting a quilt, they could store it in it.
great to take on a cruise.
That turned out so cute! I really like it and you made it look so easy to do. Also, I love your over-shirt, it's so pretty! (although I'd end up sewing my clothes into the bag somehow, because I've done it before, LOL)
Thank you so much!!
Great video. I put on shorter hand carry straps and shoulder straps on because my shoulder can't handle heavy bags. 😅 love the fabrics!
Thanks for sharing!!
Love your videos and new to your channel ❤
Welcome!!
You are such a joy!!! I love your channel!!!!
Thank you so much!!
💕
Great bag..lots of room. Maybe add a magnetic clasp so you can “close it up” if you want to .
Great idea!!
I think I am going to try added velcro so I can quickly open and close the bag, plus I have some in my stash, lol.
Love your videos. I prefer the videos like this, landscape 😊 but I will watch them anyway 😂
You are a great teacher!!!
Thank you! 😃
You’re so fun to watch 😅
Thank you!
Love the bag & will definitely try to make one or two! Thanks for sharing. 🤗
Well done! Love the bag!
Thanks so much!
Hi,
So much fun!
I would use that size bag to store extras in my car.Never know when you need a change of clothes, sweater or Quilt ♥
Great idea!!
It makes a great bridal shower gift adding towels, beach items for bride or I was thinking gift from bride to bridesmaids. Just a thought!
Enjoying the replay ❤
So glad!
It's great. Your wittiness is fun. Looks like you made your shirt sleeves from d.t. scarves. I bought a bunch, same print, so I could add to existing denim for a skirt. I pinned it a year and a half ago and that's where I left things. 😂
Love your work.
Thank you!
Great tutorial that would be great as a baby shower gift! Also what about adding Velcro on ends and middle to close the top of bag.🤔
Also can use cloth shower curtains.
I love❤ your videos! Please keep them coming.
Thanks!
I am new to your channel and so glad I found you. I just started my first bag from one of your videos about the dishmat bags. It's not from dishmats but it has inspired me to try.
Nice idea…
But to avoid the mis matched stripes on the pocket (what I would have done … my ocd) would have put the pocket with stripes horizontal 🤣🤣
...ah yes.. THAT would definitely lessen my need for balance and symmetry.
Love this girlie
Queen, I'm 42 and my Mom has been sewing longer than I've been alive and she still screws stuff up on a regular basis.
Oh almost forgot, have you checked Temu for dish drying mats and fabric? They have LOTS to choose from, many more color options and super cheap!
I love e your videos, I was wandering can you make a bag organizer for these XL bag.
put the striped pocket crosswise to avoid needing to match stripes.
Hand sew a piece of pretty trim on the pocket you didn’t top stitch, it’ll look cute
This is so fun! I'm thinking I need a big red bag like this to use for all the stuff I end up carrying out to the car, etc.
Have a liquidation store similar. Up to 60% off.
You. Are. Fantastic.
Wow, thank you!
👍🏻👍🏻🤗❤️🪡🧵you’re so Awesome 😊
This would make a wonderful diaper bag.
I love this big bag. I am headed to dollar tree right now.....lol
You explain so well and love your attitude! What kind of sewing machine was used?
