Girl! You’re going to make me go to the poor house with all these beginner friendly sewing projects but how awesome will these be for gifts this year! I wake up daily excited to see what new project you have! TY for how much work you put into your videos and shopping trips for your audience.
Would love to see how to add pockets to one of these dish drying mat projects. I have a general idea but I would like to visually see one. I’m a visual learner.
I would love to see this tutorial made with a few zipper pockets to hold charging cord & 1 to hold the mouse. This would be perfect for traveling. Thank you Chelsea for all your projects.
New subscriber here and have been watching your DT tutorials. I made your strawberry pouch zipper bag with success. I also found two of DT’s chair cushions (black, white and yellow bubble bee patten) with ties. They seem similar to the dish drying mats. I quilted each side and then sewed them together with a box bottom, using the straps for handles. Thank you for your great tutorials and even more so for your encouragement. You’re like my favorite teacher saying, “You’re doing just fine. Keep going”.
Love this project! Here’s a zipper tip-after you first get the zipper pull on, run it all the way up and off, then separate the bottom inch or so, and put it back on, stopping midway through the length. That way, you’ll have better control over your zipper ends when sewing on the tabs. I found this out the hard way quite awhile ago 😂
@@nancya8262 I have a zipper jig, and it makes it so much easier to do. I was about to give up on zipper by the yard until I saw a video with a zipper jig. 😊
@@nancya8262 I had the same issue with the zipper tape. I now have the zipper pull jig and it works a lot better. Now I’m able to use my zipper by the yard.
I feel like you would be the coolest friend! I love your personality ❤ I helped my granddaughter and a couple of her friends make the market tote bag with the dish drying mats from DT. They had so much fun making them and they turned out so cute! Thanks Chelsea!
The timing! I was just thinking that I need cushioned laptop and iPad cases! The zippers intimidate me a little. I never quite know where to stitch. I spent a bunch of time choosing the right zip color for a pouch I just made then sewed so close to the teeth I could barely close it and NONE of the colored tape even shows. 😂. I felt I needed to get close because the bulk kept making it hard to sew straight. I picked it out 4 times before I was semi-successful. I need zipper 101 classs!!
Love the simplicity of the creations you are doing. I've been sewing since I was in high school (late 60's) but I'm always up for learning easier and cheaper ways of doing things that don't compromise their quality. Thanks so much.
This is such a wonderful project! You did it in a short amount time while teaching every step of the way. It fits your laptop perfectly. Thank you for this video!
Love it. I would use permanent two sided tape to tack down the zipper tape instead of sewing it. I'm going to make one for my tablet. But you have to be careful not to get that case wet, because it will hold water.
Hi, Chelsea from Tucson Arizona. I hope you have a blessed and healthy Sunday. Hi, watch you every day. It's awesome cause. I'm learning a lot. My sewing machine broke so I'm waiting to get it repaired. When I do and I try to make one of those purses with the watermelon 1 that you did. I will post it on your page. Thank you for inspiring me to do something. I appreciate you.
I got the zippers by the yard sorry I’m computer delinquent had a hard time with it so I just went for it and ordered them love them they are just as you said . I already made a boxy pencil bag for my daughter she loves it. Your so sweet to share your ideas with us 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️
Chelsea I LOVE your channel and your teaching style. I think you are the best. Here is my ONE issue, you make putting those zipper pulls on the "zippers by the yard" look easy and it is NOT. I am losing my mind trying to make it work. Worst of all I bought those helper tools and I cant figure them out either. Can you make a video where we can really see you put the zipper pull on the darn zipper and maybe how to use the tools ---the zipper "jig" Thanks so much.
I am going to hold my hand up here 🤦♀️I have had my sewing machine for years and years, it is only today that I took the foot off and attached the zipper foot. As you can guess I am no seamstress, but I make easy things that do not require a zip, hence the fact it only went on today 😳 🤦♀️but I am shortening a pair of my trousers and the tutorials were suggestion using the zipper foot. I have looked at quite a few tutorials to see how to easy it was to take them up neatly and easy. I am sitting here watching you via the tv on YT and it sounds as if you are sitting here with me, such a fun video. Greetings from Scotland 🏴
Chelsea, thanks to your tutorials I have pulled out my sewing machine and set up a sewing area in my craft room. I now have the confidence to sew zippers and bags but I struggle with getting the corners of my bags to pop out at the ends of the zippers. I would love to see in a video you specifically speak to how you sew the bag together to make the ends pop.
What a wonderful little project. It turned out great - so cute! I’ve never seen cute dish drying mats in our Pound shops or Walmart here in the UK. I’m still looking though!!
How about a cross body bag from a cute place mat instead of a dish drying mat? I've been seeing matching place mats with the bees on them like the dish dry mats.
I'll have to check a little further on the size, however, this looks like about the right size as a small embroidery project holder. Also. Great job! Thank you!
Cool job, I really like it's a little tricky to get that zipper in there, but you gotta do it. You gotta do it. You gotta be like you said, go slow cause it? Yeah, I'm getting ready to make a handbag, and I'm going to put a zipper, but that's like a straight a straight. Yeah, it's a put in a zipper in his a little tricky. Do you did a good job? Handles would be very nice cause. Then you won't make for sure that you won't drop, but you might find that you can go back and put handles down further on the front and the back top stitch it and then put you a pocket to to put your keys in maybe or something. I think you're going to find out that handles are going to be really good for you
You have inspired me to sew on my YT channel. However, I don't know how to do my camera placement. Would u be willing to show us ur camera placements plzzzz??? I enjoy all ur videos, especially the DT crafts. Tks a million for sharing ur special projects 😊
My niece loves gnomes and I found a drying mat with gnomes on it and I am going to make her one of these for her laptop!! Love your tutorials. I made 27 pot holder eyeglass cases today! Just love your stuff!! Thanks!,
My sewing project list grows more and more with every tutorial of yours that I watch. I would love to see you put out a "shop with me" video so we can see your creative process in action.
Just found you this morning and am so glad I did. What an idea!! I'll go out there and catch your other ones. You sure make me laugh and I appreciate your positive attitude!! Thank you so much!!
I want you to know the Dish Drying mats at Dollar Tree are hard to find now, the solid plain ones are there but the cute ones are so hard to find now. I found one of the yellow/black bee pattern and I used it for a splash guard around my kitchen sink faucet area. Not perfect but almost and it is so cute. I got the inspiration from your videos.
I am confused on how to purchase the correct quality of zippers - not too thin. Is this a number 5? Thanks so very much! So glad I found you on RUclips!!
This is a great project. I bought an adorable e-reader cover (closes like a clutch bag) at a craft fair years ago but I need a small laptop cover and didn't want to buy bag making materials! - Kelly
This is so wonderful I’m curious can you make an electronics cord bag for travel similar to laptop case for cores and charger blocks I love the look of your laptop case, but I don’t know how to bring it to life. Thank you in advance.
Omg this comment went to the wrong place and person 😮 Love the laptop case, absolutely going to do it! You have some fresh ideas for ancient sewists 😂❤
I think it would be even prettier to use the bound edge showing on the outside. Could you do a demo of how you would install the zipper inside to let the bound edge show all the way around?
Hi, I just stumbled upon your channel and I have to say I absolutely love watching your videos, you have the best creativity, I also love that you are doing dollar tree project using their products, I have definitely subscribed to your channel
🤩Instant Like and Subscribe. This project is both practical AND cute! Way cuter and economical than the gadget sleeves at Best Buy. I'm new to sewing, but your easy-to-follow instructions and guidance give me the confidence to shake of my anxiety and get to work on making a few of these as gifts (and maybe one or two for myself). Keep on inspiring!
This is so cute! I would love a longer tutorial for a nice maxi skirt or pajamas/pj shorts for adults. I realize though that this is not a DT friendly video request.... :/
I love your projects! I am wondering if it would be possible to make a bag with a couple compartments? I like the dish mats for the bag. I want a bag that could be used by anyone and be acceptable as a diaper bag or just a carrying bag. I am a beginner so I am not skilled enough to come up with how to make it. I'm interested in your opinion. I really learn well from you!!

how do you put the zipper pull on to begin with??? I'm ready to cry trying to get the darn thing on to the zipper.

Awww yay! This is what it’s all about! Spending time together and learning how to do things with our hands! I love this so much!
Super cute 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓
I love it I'm going to try to make it and add a pocket and straps 😊 thank you for sharing.
The laptop cover is very cute. I think I'd sew it with the red edging visible on the outside.
You are a wonderful teacher ! I have sewn for years..very basic home projects. Never attempted zippers! This makes me feel like I could!
You can do it!
The timing! I was just thinking that I need cushioned laptop and iPad cases! The zippers intimidate me a little. I never quite know where to stitch. Here I am on Sunday in my sewing room thinking I have to go to the Fabric store aka Dollar Tree!!!
You should!
I’m making your pumpkin bag now and I can’t wait to do this !
Chelsea, thanks for your enthusiasm, encouragement and bubbliness; you are such an inspiration!❤
Thank you so much!
Hi Sally here ! My dollar tree hasn’t had the larger mats … no mats at all. I went to Home Goods and got 2 really pretty mats for 7.99 🤷♀️
I always have a pen and note pad with my I pad so I think I’ll close in the bottom sides. I just love your creativity.
Thanks!

What an inspirational speaker you are! Wonderful life advice, plus the bonus of sewing tips! 😂❤️
Great idea Chelsea! Keep the contents coming! I am enjoying your tutorials. Thanks for giving us great contents. ❤
You are so welcome!
I think it’s perfect, how about a couple of handles. So you carry as well. Just add to the outside, with a little reinforcement. I love strawberries.
Another great project. Love it. God bless👍🥰🇱🇷
Thank you! 😊
You are so talented, thanks for sharing all your ideas. Plus you make me feel as a beginner “I can do it”!
Can’t tell you enough his wonderful you are. Absolutely love watching you. Thank you. 🌺🌺
