The first #1 song for a black girl group. They had many hits in the early '60s. Lead singer Shirley Owens was just 19 or 20 years old when this record came out

Great reaction! Four girls from New Jersey so beautiful and classy. All those old groups make me nostalgic. I'm from Detroit ... I remember all the old Motown singers and saw some of them perform live downtown.

I remeber when this first came out a wonderful song. A time when the music and lyrics had substance and singers could sing and unlike the provocative dancing and how much skin you can show which is par for the vast majority of today's 'singers'.

THAT's THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE CLASSICS AND TODAY's MUSIC. IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS{MY DAYS), THE FOCUS WAS THE SONG, THE VOICE, THE LYRICS, NOT THE CLEAVAGE, OR THE BOOBS, THE LEGS. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY WERE ABLE TO PRODUCE TIMELESS TREASURES LIKE THIS.

back then the guys were also more decent, more modest and respectful (and very very well dressed!)

So, these ladies were singing about should they say 'YES' to their boyfriend.
This song came out just before the birth control pill.
