I'll be 71 next month and I love skincare!!! My students tell me they can't believe I'm over 70. I tell you that because I didn't start caring for my skin until I was 55. It's never too late to take care of yourself!!!
Thank you for this! I am 54 and have never really had a good skin care routine, just the basic wash my face and apply moisturizer... now I am feeling that I missed the boat and there is no point in trying. But after reading your post, it gives me hope that I can (hopefully) do better and look better from here on out. 😊
I like to do a mix of high and low priced anti-aging skin care products. But this excellent video proves you can do it on a budget. No excuses these days to skip anti-aging because of price. Thanks Dr. Sam...you slay.
No need to pay high price for anything these days. Between this and the Budget Dermatologist’s video on affordable anti-aging products there are excellent affordable products.
This was helpful, but I don't know WHEN & in what order to apply these products. Please create a video on applying these products. What comes first, second, etc.
I’m on day 7 of an upper respiratory sinus/cold thing and the Prequel Barrier Therapy saved my skin. I’ve been using it several times a day just to soothe my face and I’ve been able to maintain an even skin tone with little redness and flakiness around my nose. As a bonus, my hands have stayed soft and moisturized through frequent washing.
Tissues made with lotion in them were the best recommendation I've gotten to keep my nose and upper lip from redness, soreness and dryness when I've had allergy or cold/flu symptoms! Worth the bit of extra cost!
Tretinoin and sunscreen have done wonders for my skin already, and I’m about to add your lucent-c to my morning routine & I’m so excited for it to come in!
I have been using Rx tretinoin for years and definitely see the benefits of glowing, plump, even toned skin. I absolutely love Lucent C. I've used so many of the highly recommended vitamin C products on the market e.g. Skinceuticals, Drunk Elephant, Revision, Naturium, DRMTGLY, etc. and I 100% agree w/ Dr. Ellis that the Lucent C is the best of the best - from the pump packaging, the formulation, and the price - it is so elegant and a pleasure to use. Thank you so much Dr. Ellis for creating such an amazing product at an affordable price. I also love the gleanser, the hypochlorous acid spray and the SPF from Prequel.
I love Japanese and Korean sunscreens, I liked both the purito and BoJ ones. I also loved the SKIN1004, Anua heartleaf, Haru Haru and Scinic sunscreens too.
My current anti-aging favorite is the A-Game-5 Retinal from Geek & Gorgeous. My sensitive skin likes it more than Naturium, and I can feel my texture improving, and haven't gotten any new wrinkles or fine lines.
I just love this video, it is so informative. Dr Ellis has been so kind and generous to explain and show us the best products we should consider including their cost so everyone can determine what works best for their budget. She fully discloses her personal brand products and I appreciate that because I would rather use a brand created by a dermatologist especially when it is competitively priced as her is. Thank you Dr Ellis I needed this video. Just a request as others have stated below, for us novices, it would be helpful if you could detail the steps of the various applications.
Mother was an RN, I'm thankful she taught me to use SPF at an early age and to eat a wide variety of fruits/veggies. For the past 30 years, I've used glycolic acid once/week, retinA, six nights a week (or as tolerated), and my skin is pretty healthy. I revisited my routine recently because my skin def. changed during menopause. So I may reduce chemical peel to once a month or switch to an AHA wash, that still gives me the benefits of exfoliation but reduced contact to reduce the irritation factor. My favorite products are CeraVe SPF 50, Vanicream Vitamin C serum, RX retinA, and Missha Time Revolution Essence. I like Undefined Day Serum, with brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Kojic Acid, and Licorice Root.
Hello 👋 Your skin is very glowing! Please tell me how you can achieve such well-groomed skin quality? What creams and moisturizers could you recommend? I am 40 years old, live in Florida, have combination and sensitive skin, fine lines under my eyes when I smile. Thanks in advance for your answer.
I've been loving your products from Prequel ! The "Gleanser" has been so amazing and moisturizing while washing my face & the vitamin C! I also love Naturium Retinaldehyde & their 2% BHA liquid exfoliant !
I have The Ordinary Glycolic toner. Thank you for the sprayer idea. Where on the body do you apply it and when? I just got the Prequel gleanser & I'm loving it! Can't wait to try more products
I have been using Agency for about a year and I am pleased with my results. It has lightened my agr spots considerably. I do think I have maxed my results and will likely need to do a professional treatment to get rid of the more resistant spots. Started using Cerave Vit C serum my only issue is the packaging. It is metal and now has a crack which means it is coming out the bottom and is getting exposed to air. I have some very odd skin texture on my forehead and I am not sure how to deal with that. I have also used Versed products for the body and face and like them very much.
I would love to see this same video but for teens with acne. My son struggles with acne products because he also has eczema that will flair on his forehead and eyelid area so it's been difficult to keep both under control. Thanks.
I think im going to have to try your vitC when mine runs out. 👀 I love that there are affordable versions of L-ascorbic/fereulic serums now! im a huge fan of the naturiam retinal.. I use tretinoin on my face every night.. but i still love the serum for my neck and chest. Its also worked really well for my daughters acne. She likes it a lot more than adapolene. I love that these really effective skincare ingredients are so accessible ❤
Hi Dr. Ellis, could you please consider shipping to Canada?🙏🏻🙏🏻 Your products are fantastic and so affordable, unlike many products here in Canada. Thank you if possible!!
I use many of the anti-aging products you mentioned. I am 63 and have little to no wrinkles on my face including the eye area. Over the course of the past year I have been noticing light, brown spots on my face, noticeably the cheek area. Can you suggest a non-prescription formula to use to tackle this problem? My face is sensitive due to a stroke and I fear using Tretinoin. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
I love your videos! I use trentenoin, which I love. At 70 years old, it still is fabulous I also use a vitamin C serum in the morning. If you have time to answer, what moisturizer would you recommend for mature, dry skin? Thank you!
Dr Sam- I’m madly in love with the Skin Barrier. I got my first bottle in last weekend and I just can’t get enough of it. Then this week I had my annual check up with my local Derm so of course I took my massive bottle of Skin Barrier with me and she squealed when I brought it out saying “oooooooo!! You got yourself some Prequel!!!” Figured you’d appreciate knowing that my derm loves your products as much as i do! i just placed my second order once I saw the Gleanser back in stock. Your Urea lotion is next. Thank you SO much for making such incredible products.
Prequel skincare is so affordable and I love every product. Just got the Prequel SPF 50 ++++ and it is amazing!! Prequel gives you so much bang for your buck. I use Naturium Retinaldehyde 0.5 % and it works great for under $30.
I love Naturium! Their affordable but well formulated products have replaced a lot of my more expensive skincare. The Niacinimide and zinc serum eliminated rough texture on my cheeks that has been there my whole life. Amazing.
Thanks for all those great products and information ❤ I was curious- is there a kit you prefer that has step by step what to apply!? Also, did you do a video with what products to apply for daily routine? Thanks
I’m 70 and for the last 10 years I have been very sick and my skincare was neglected. I’m finding my face very dull and wrinkled and wondering where I can buy your products to try. I have what my Doctors calls, pillow wrinkles. I sleep only on one side and my face is vey wrinkled on that side. It’s very noticeable and I need help there for sure. I love your video and info I get from them. If you can suggest products it would be really appreciated! Thanks
How do you apply all of these products listed?? Can you make a video using all of the products? Do you use the moisturizer first then the retinol then the vitamin c and finally sunscreen? I get so confused with sooooo many products. How do we know when to put them on in what order?????
Just wanted to pop in and say how much I'm enjoying Prequel's Vitamin C. I love how watery and light it is and how it sinks right into the skin. It also smells like hot dog water, so I know it's legit 😄❤❤
Love your Prequel sunscreen. I receive compliments on how dewy my 60yo skin looks when I use it. Just got my second tube of it and nkw am also trying Gleanser!
i use the Vanicream THD and the CeraVe encapsulated retinol together twice a day. i guess this gentle but potent creamy combo is kinda sorta equivalent to Neutrogena's Advanced Tone Repair day/night duo. Thank you for reasserting that affordable skincare is NOT substandard skincare.
Dr. Ellis, thank you for helping me break my RUclips beauty channel obsession. I am a clean living kind of gal. I resorted to RUclips looking for help a month or two ago in healing my dry eyelid skin. Along the way I got seduced into the consumerism model of caring for my skin. After viewing multiple videos of derm channels on RUclips, I settled on yours as the one that spoke most closely to my way of living. I spent many hours of the past month looking for the best skincare for my "needs". I was sold on the idea that at 61 y.o., the skin care routine that has worked perfectly for me over the past 5+ years needed enhancing because I have mature skin. After experiencing tremendous pain as a teen suffering from teenage acne, early on I made a vow to myself to never put my skin through the trauma of skincare products again. It was when I heard you, the RUclips derm who I trusted the most say, "No pain, no gain", I found reason to close the door on RUclips skincare consumerism. Thank you for helping me find my exit! And my return to self.
This comment is a bit confusing to me.. are you thanking her for her advice on skincare products or are you thanking her for helping you realize that you don’t want/need her skincare products/advice??
Dr. Ellis, I tolerate better prescription Adapalene gel of 0.3% and apply retinol cream on top of it. Is my daily routine as affective for anti-aging, collagen production, etc as Tretinoin?
Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy the Prequel gleanser, moisturizing milk and skin ointment . I just got the Lucent C and the sunscreen, so am excited to try these as well. I love korean sunscreens. Currently using BoJ, Haru Haru, Tocobo, and Purito. Different ones depending on what I feel like. I absolutely love Neutragena RWR. My skin is truly glowing in the morning after using it. The Cerave retinol is very nice too. But that RWR is so moisturing. About once a week I use the Ordinary Lactic Acid. Thanks again for your info!
Excellent video. Thank you! I am on the retinol journey and the Naturium may be my next step as I have done the Neutrogena 0.3% for months and wanted to level up a little bit and eventually make my way to tretenoin.
Thank you Thank you Thank you. The 2 budget friendly skincare I needed are specifically Vit C and a Moisturiser. My timeless and Olay have become too expensive for me. I'm able to get super cheap tretinoin so I'm good on that. You obviously know your stuff and I'll be getting Prequel Vit C and Moisturiser. The price points are excellent.
I am using your gleanser, vitamin c, and sunscreen paired with tretinoin and once per week I use Bubble’s Deep Dive Exfoliating Mask which contains some pretty awesome ingredients for an inexpensive product.
I use the fragrance free one and like it. I am currently transitioning up to their fragrance free cream Pro+ which is .3%. Planning on moving up to the Natrium .05% because it's Retinaldehyde. Curious to see if my skin tolerates it.
I would like to purchase the prequel vitamin c however it seems shipping is only within the US, is this likely to change in future as I live abroad? Also how often do you use glycolic acid on the body?
Should vitamin c/antioxidant serum go before other serums? Or after ? Like if I wanted to use both vitamin c & and hyaluronic acid in the same routine, what should go first?
Thank you for this Dr. Sam. I am new to your channel and have been enjoying your videos. Also, from Northern Calif. I think I will try your Vitamin C. Any feedback on Nira? I have the first one and now I see they have a newer version. The first one actually hurts around the eye area. I quit using it for now.
Which of these are safe during pregnancy? In addition to the sunscreens of course. I understand it’s not medical advice and I’d still need to check with my own provider. Just want to know what to discuss with them as potential options. Also, what’s the recommended order of using all this?
Love your videos!! It is why I drive 2+ hours to see you!! Do you have and experience with Matryxl 3000 and GHK-CU peptides in a cream for anti-aging, fine lines, healing ETc? Looking for an alternative to retinol bc of it seeming to irritate my skin.
I have purchased products in all of these different categories, but inevitably fail to keep up the routine when I have 6 things to put on morning and night. Is there any kind of all-in-one anti-aging cream that you would recommend? Preferably affordable but will definitely spend more if it cuts down the routine
BHAs! I have had adult acne my whole life. If sensitive/dry do a 2% solution every other day to start. I like Medik 8 as it’s gentle, but people love Paula’s Choice too.
@@cherrycoke3254 omg thank you so much I’m definitely going to give it a try I’m so tired of always having this little bumps like they never go away no matter what thank you
Great video!! My skin tolerates retinol or retinaldehyde very well. Do you have any suggestions for something a little stronger than Naturium’s? Thanks.
There are folks who will say regardless of ingredient, formulation matters and what your skin will like. I'm sure Dr. Ellis along with other derm channels has video comparing (like their retinol videos).
I'll be 71 next month and I love skincare!!! My students tell me they can't believe I'm over 70. I tell you that because I didn't start caring for my skin until I was 55. It's never too late to take care of yourself!!!

Me too. Depends on what I’m trying to target at the time.
Please create a video which explains the steps you take to cleanse and apply these products. What comes first, second, etc. Thanks!

The CeraVe retinol has been my go to for about two years and I love it, it’s super lightweight and has never irritated my skin.
I have used Alpha Skin Care for years. Im 55 and it helps keep my skin smooth and even toned
I love it too. I've used fir years too.

When will we be able to purchase Prequel in other countries, like Australia?
❤❤ love this video!
I love the Naturium Retinaldehyde serum!!!!
Am using a 0.1% retinaldehyde on my neck and will switch to the Naturium retinaldehyde once I finish Avene - saving me more than $30.
How do you recommend introducing products like retinols and vitamin c’s to super sensitive reactive skin?
Can you use retinols under your eyes for wrinkles or what should we use for 30 y/o skin? How do you get your skin used to vitamin c?
Yes you can use retinol on the eyelids! But I would decrease use if you are having irritation or your eyes feel dry.
Anyone tried the Paula’s Choice 6% mandelic acid, 2% lactic acid liquid exfoliant?
She's not a derm but AliceintheRabbitHole did a mini review of this last week in her video on anti-aging skincare/ageism.
when will you skincare brand be available in Australia or at a reasonable postage to Australia
Dr i need to know what brand of lipstick you are wearing and what shade it looks gorgious❤
Thank you! Makeup is all in the description box!
Sounds great I'm going to try it
What are your thoughts on Olay Vitamin C + peptide moisturizer?
Could you please, recommend a good sunscreen for kids.
Dr. What’s is good for clog pores I’m 35 and I still acne and also slot of clogged pores I have a of little bumps on my face
Thanks.
There are drugstore retinal products like Avene 0.1 which a number of derms recommend. But then again, formulation does matter.
Do you think Differin is better than retinaldehydes? I cant get tretionin, but I can get Differin.
There are folks who will say regardless of ingredient, formulation matters and what your skin will like. I'm sure Dr. Ellis along with other derm channels has video comparing (like their retinol videos).
I'm 32 and still breastfeeding my baby, what are substitutes in the meantime while I can't use retinol?! Any suggestions??
