- This TI-30 calculator has been converted to operate on 9 volt batteries. It is fully functioning. Texas Instruments has been making versions of this calculator since 1976 - making this model line one of the most successful calculators of all time.
This calculator features the cool red LED display - later models in the mid 1980s were changed over to the less inspiring liquid crystal displays. The metalized Texas Instruments logo below the display on this TI-30 indicates that it was made in the early production of this model between 1976 and 1978. After that, the chrome metalized paint was removed leaving the logo black. - Хобби

I love the LED and it’s chunky form factor. It’s entertaining to see it computing.
I had to go all through High School with out such fabulous advanced technology! As you said, they were not offered for sale untill 1976 !
I had one of those in high school. I remember the clunky noise when I pushed the buttons.

The TI-30 was texas instrument's first attempt at a scientific calculator with an LED display. The TI-1250 basic calculator, came out first in 1975. The good thing about this calculator was that the display was a LED. You could turn it on in the dark and see the numbers on the display. The downside was that it took a 9 volt battery and it probably used it up kind of quickly. The LCD's you can't see in the dark, unless it has a backlight feature. If not, you need a flashlight to see the display in the dark. Lol. Good video, ty for posting this! Bravo!
I totally agree with you regarding the red LED display. These displays were easy to read in lighted and darkened settings. They looked very futuristic back in the 70s - I remember having one in high school and it actually was one of the things that made doing math homework somewhat enjoyable!
i know the original dude is at disbelief from the swarm of kids on this video in the coming months 😭
