@@charrua59not just the prices. The 80s were unique. The Republicans and democrats got along. We didn't have political dysfunction. The economy and dollar were strong. The cold war was thawing by then. Music and culture had a renaissance. There was good technology but it didn't distract us from living in the moment like today. Kids could run around and play freely. It was the best decade ever. Best decade of my life.

@alexeip6792 the 80s didn't have horrible inflation. When Reagan was elected, he put Paul Volker in charge of the FED. He raised interest rates to 20 percent, which arrested inflation. And the economy was phenomenal. Wages outpaced inflation, jobs were everywhere and new products and ideas were being tried. Yes. The 80s were great. You're the Revisionist here, not me.

I was born in 81 and I'm obsessed with the year's 80 through to 93.
The vast majority of my wardrobe is vintage 80s clothing. I love my acid wash Jeans and shell suits.
I only listen to music from that time period. Same goes for movies and tv shows. My wife says I'm stuck in the 80s, but I don't care, lol.
I'm sure you've probably heard them, but if not, give def leppards 80s albums a listen to. Especially Hysteria and pyromania. Best two albums of the decade, imho.🤟

I turned 20 in 1981, so pretty close to me as well. It was when I actually started on my journey into adulthood, and it was an awesome ride. 👍🏻👍🏻

My GOD...a teen with actual taste. Very classy and looks like a scene from an 80s movie. I should know, I lived through it.
This is soooooo great!! I'm so glad someone young appreciates and loves the best decade of all time. The reason why it was called "floppy" disc's was the originals were large, square the lightweight. When you moved the disc, they flopped around. As the technology improved, the disc's became smaller, but were still called floppy disc's anyway.
Right? When I was a kid in the 80s, I was so obsessed with the style of the older girls and women. So much better than the fugly stuff young women wear now.

When a male peacock wants to attract a mate it shows its tail, and thr bigger and brighter it is, the better chances. Thr 80s were like that. It was all about bigger and brighter. What a decade. You can dress up, do your makeup, listen to the movies and music… but you can’t bring back the 80’s! The world was completely different, people were completely different. Living in the 80’s, things were always exciting, colors were more vibrant in the world, neighbors were welcoming and left doors open for each other, the air was fresher… it was like a different universe. The 80’s were unexplainably amazing… I miss that era!

I'm sorry you missed out on thr 80s. I was lucky enough to live during the 80s. As good as everyone makes the 80s out to be, they never do it justice. The 80s was everything they say it was and so much more. It was, in my opinion, the best decade in human history. There was never a time like it before, and there never will be again
Im so thankful my mum kept all her 80s clothes from when she was 18, now I get to wear them too.

@seeharvester I always did pills. Pharmaceuticals. I didn't trust street drugs, you never know what they cut it with. I did codeine, vicodin, oxycodone, etc. Took decades to get clean

The 80s was an optimistic decade. People were more laid back and less lonely.
As a gen x who started the 80s at age 8 and ended it at age 18 I can say not only is she totally rad but spot on. Wicked and awesome. 80s were the best.

I'm 58, and had almost that exact hair, was into Pat Benatar, and had that walkman, all in different years of that era.😆She's pretty accurate. It was an amazing time to be in University because we had fun together and were not on phones.

I love your style! I’m also a woman who adores the 80’s. I’m 26, I still use a turntable, LP’s, drive a car from 1974, use cassettes in my Sanyo Walkman (not rich enough for a Sony 🤣) keep doing your thing it’s awesome. My favourite bands are Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and Duran Duran
My first car was a 1974 Ford I bought in 1981. The 80's were great times.

Wow, I feel like I'm in a time machine! I graduated from high school in 1982 and joined the army in 1985. Great times!
Macs were VERY expensive and very few middle class families owned one. They cost the equivalent of almost $6,000 today, and it had maybe 428 kilobytes. But they were a gift from God if you worked in an office. If the boss made any changes on a letter or document you didn't have to retype the whole damn thing.
Yeah, Macs were i very expensive f you bought one outright-My uncle had got one but from Rumbelows so only paid £4 a month 😀
My dad had one of those at the office along with Amiga 1000 + then later the 500!

My favorite artists are from the 80s and my mom was born in 1980.
My dream village would be like in 1985, with physical shops and no mobile phones or internet. Like a themed resort, but also with the underlying motive to be a relief for all the employees and inhabitants.

I wish I had known in the 80’s that it was going to be the greatest time of my life. I had no idea what all was coming. I can’t even believe how it’s all turned out.

I miss it soooo much. It really was a fun more simple time. Good on her for doing it justice. I miss the look the girls had. I still think it's sexy, and she nails it! Attitude has a lot to do with it as well and she seems pretty well into it. God bless her and all of us has beens!

I recently became very interested in the 80s. From the music to the clothes, I just feel connected to a period in time that I never grew up in. Being born in 2001, I never really knew or appreciated the 80s like I do now.

Yes. I was young in the 80s. It would feel very odd without mobile, GPS, internet and tons of other stuff. You have to haved lived it too understand.
I grew up in the 1980’s. The only thing that I listened to the music from that decade on my iPhone 14 now these days. I still kind of dressed the same. I can’t let my hair grow long because I go nuts when it gets shaggy for short hair.
OMG! I love this girl! That was me, so many great memories, right down to reading tons of those romance novels. I remember "fixing" all of my tapes whenever they'd somehow tangle in the cassette player and saving up money from my summer job to get my first body wave perm. That was my hairstyle and she got that teasing perfectly in order to get that height. I miss those simpler, fun days.

i am a teenager and i do the same. i act as if i’m in the 80s by using old technology and listening to old music and movies and i play old video games. because its nice to be in a decade where social media does not exist. except, i cant get vhs tapes so i just use dvd but i do however have cassette tapes.

I'm like this but with the 60s and 70s ❤ fashion and music from the past is the best
The 3.5 inch floppies came in a hard plastic shell but the discs the data is stored on inside the container are actually thin and flexible. And previous iterations that were larger (8 inch and 5.25 inch) came in softer protective coverings.
I remember growing up in the 80’s and 90’s and the 60’s being popular. I would ask my parents all of these questions about what the 60’s were like, I would listen to 60’s music a lot. I think this happens sometimes, you get caught in the world of the past but my parents would tell me., “There was good and bad, it was different but in some ways the same. “
Yeah, like I read a comment on a website about the 80s bringing back some stuff from the 60s and 50s. Like bttf is partly based in the 50s and in Ghostbusters they drive a 1959 Cadillac - I think it's the most famous model years of Cadillac? Oh and little shop of horrors is based in the 60s/50s, same with dirty dancing, although they use some 80s music in it. You can't really get that vibe of 80s movies based in the 60s/50s in films today that are based in the "space age" era. Also speaking of 50s/60s, I think Apple seem to be in a retro phase atm with their streaming service, becuase there are a couple of shows that are based in the 50s/60s (hello tomorrow and lessons in chemistry). Apple also seem to have a thing for bttf and it's producer, Steven Spielberg's production company, "amblin entertainment", as they featured a DeLorean in one of their product unveilings and their releasing a Michael j fox documentary and they did a reboot of "amazing stories" which is an amblin entertainment production, or the original was anyway

I've heard a couple living in the 1800 in today's generation and a different couple living in the 1950s. Now she is 19 who lives in the 80s. That is awesome and rad. I like old school music but living like them in the era, thats something else. I also do have a walkman from my dad as a b day gift. I'm 22. I can listen to different generation musics
The first "floppy disks" actually were floppy. The 8-inch and 5.24-inch ones were usually sporting a black cover and a gaping round hole in the middle. It also has this exposed oval at the bottom that you shouldn't touch. As a kid, I called this the No-No Spot. The nickname got popular in my middle school pretty fast. :-)
What's INSANE is that NORAD and other nuclear defense systems here in the U.S. STILL use those actual floppy disks. The "reasoning" being so those systems don't get hacked.

I want to meet this girl! I'm the same with the late 90s/ early 2000s! I have all the old technology as well, walkman, both tape and CD version, my radio is a JVC from 1994, I have a bush CRT tv, loads of tapes and CDs, all the old clothes, I have a couple old cameras, one Polaroid from 1986, the other is a digital one from the 2000s, I have a VHS and DVD combi system from 1997, loads of DVD'S and VHS tapes, my alarm clock is also from 1986, I have the iMac G3, I use a keypad phone when I'm out and I'm 20. Please talk to me I'm genuinely fascinates!!
Flashback in the late October of 2022
80s was so much fun flourecent was our color we didnt have all this technology so we had real human connection still my favorite music people were friendly and happy the simple times great memories
I always had an idea for a fun time-traveling 80s movie in my head where a girl from today(gen-z) who absolutely Hates the 80s and even successfully 'forces' her school to cancel their 80s theme dance. When all the sudden one morning she wakes up in 1987 and haves to deal with it.
I came up with a story plot where a small town decided long ago that once technology takes over our lives and starts separating us from our human interactions and simple family values, that's when the town will stay stuck in the past. The town looks like it's stuck in 1987 or 1990. People are dressed like it's 1987. They only use 1980s technology. No iPhones, smartphones, or tablets. Only rotery phone and push-button dial phone landlines allowed. And pay phones and phone booths on every other street corner, in stores, malls, and outside buildings. Towns people even drive old, late 80s to early 90s cars. People keep to a simple lifestyle and have normal face to face social interactions. Children are allowed to play outside all day until the street lights come on and feel safe doing so in their small town.
The story is set in the year 2023, but the town stayed in a time warp of decades gone by.
So, I will be watching both of these films ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
there's actually a movie that came out recently called "totally killer" starring Kiernan Shipka, the premise is basically a girl in the modern age goes back in time to the 80s in order to stop a murder from happening and its pretty funny on the whole gen-z relying on technology in order to survive aspect (as a gen-z-er myself!)

Too cool! One of the hosts favorite movies from the 80’s was Back To The Future The scene they show was filmed in my hometown of Burbank, Ca. at McCambridge park. It all still looks the same. I was an 80’s teen too! 10-20yrs old.
