@@MimixLight if we're talking politically, sure--but these people are using fashion and technology , which didn't exist in a vacuum exclusive to england. france dominated the fashion "industry" in the second half of the 19th century. new england was big on imitating the fashion and trends of the victorian era in england and while it's more properly known as american victorianism, in casual conversation idrc about distinguishing unless i'm talking about the specific political environment in england during the victorian era.
Nicole T But aren’t we talking about the “Victorian Era” instead of the 1800s? It’s called the Victorian Era because Queen Victoria was the ruler.
@@MimixLight yes that's why i made the distinction about politics, but victorian era fashion and technology, while Iconic, were not exclusive to england. if you say "i live/dress like im in the 1800s" a lot can come to mind--"cowboys", pioneers, etc. etc. if you say "i live/dress like im in the victorian era" that conveys the style of fashion they're using.

@@adyingdream4585 They certainly don't miss the nasty diseases and the abysmal sanitary conditions.
@@elizabethc18
In a lot of ways I'd reckon that Victorian sanitary conditions were better than they are now - apart from smog and soot from coal burning in very urban/industrial areas. Knowledge about germs and pathogens was emerging before the public, and homes were cleaned meticulously on a weekly basis. Compare this to today - when was the last time you dusted the top of your dresser? We're all working so many hours outside of the home, that in many way our hygienic standards today extends only to a lot of showers and hand-washing, which ends up removing the protective oils from our skin in extreme cases.
The Candid Counterbalance in the 1900 there were people who believed washing yourself would make you dirtier, and more prone to sicknesses.
@@elizabethc18 well when you don't have internet, tv and radio, you have fuckload of spare time you can fill in with something. I.e. cleaning.

She looks lovely
Going on a hunch here but I don't think they had youtube in the victorian times
JFM thank you for saying that. I developed extreme rosacea and a butterfly rash from Lyme disease, when I used to have perfect porcelain skin. Now it’s very textured, red, and blotchy. The only thing I’ve admired about the skin change is how rosy my cheeks can look. You just made my day

That type of bicycle is called a penny farthing because of the difference in size between the front and rear wheels.
There should be a teenage camp like this where everyone disconnects and lives Victorian style.
