They're known for their obsession with technology and obsessing over selfies.
But millennial Michael Koropisz is more likely to be found perfecting an oil self-portrait than snapping Instagram-perfect pictures on his phone.
The 24-year-old professional portrait painter lives a very different life from his peers - preferring to pretend he's living in the 1800s.
Despite being a young man in the 21st century, Michael insists on living in the past by strictly dressing in only Victorian clothes from the 19th century and filling his house with antiques.

This young Gentleman is like myself, I have always lived odd, I'm 38 and still live oddly. My Parents were odd so I grew up not being normal, my Father likes fantasy, Dragons, Wizards, Aliens, books and my Mother liked to read to us as kids, plus write little stories and she likes fantasy as well, we were never the football Dad, Soccer Mom type of people, we went to Historical places and read trivia for fun, spent most of my childhood playing outside, they still play card games on Sunday after Church with my Uncle, but we also play things like horseshoes and have grill cooking picnics. We live in the country in Pennsylvania, so we were odd, very common sense, able to hold an intelligent conversation Hillbillies. Lets just put it this way I never fit in, I still don't, people like this Gentleman are my kind of people. I have always dressed different than everyone even as a child, people used to laugh or shun me, I never cared always liked being different, I now have my house decorated on a poor girls budget to mimic the Victorian era, I also wear outfits on regular days that mimic the time period with modern thrown in for practicality and when going to Historical places I dress in dresses closer to the time period. I Love it and it makes me happy, just the same as it makes this Gentleman happy, some of us are just not meant to fit in, in life and that is ok.

Good for you. Who wants to be like everyone else, wearing the latest fashions everyone’s bought out the same shops? Individuality is what makes us, us. I dress how I want to, I don’t blend in with the latest fashions, of fads. I own a gramophone, an antique sewing machine, and always dress my house in antiques. I have a mangle, and I’ve also bought a pair of antique scales that need redoing that were used for postal bags in Queen Victoria’s era. You only live once please don’t care about anyone else. As long as you are happy that’s all that matters. Sending you much love 💓😊💓

@D Di P and who are you to say how he should live? For him it is real and he loves being himself and is not afraid to show it. What matters is that it makes him happy. He accepted himself fully, rather than being miserable being someone who he is not and doing things he does not like. That is worth of some respect as most people cannot do it and instead set standards and envy those that are not afraid...Rather than pretending to be what people like you consider "normal" and "mature". I like his philosophy about surrounding yourself with things that you love.
Fashion is weird, give it 10 years and everyone will have clothes like that.
Don't give me false hopes... :'(
@Lord Farquaad Don't speak for everyone but for yourself, you nor anyone here know what people will be wearing in 10 years from now. In my opinion, modern clothing is ugly as hell, comfortable, yes, but the comfort is because of the materials the clothes are made, not because of its appearance; we can made super comfortable clothes that look like 200 years ago clothes. So elegant and still so comfortable.
Same apply to architecture for example, instead of those disgusting concrete white cubes or those weird abstract sculptures, we can make buildings and art like before, but using modern materials and techniques, so we're saving money and time, and getting beauty and durability. Also it depends the place you're living in; I guess that if you're from the USA you don't actually give a shit about clothes or architecture, but here in Europe we have a culture and a fashion that some of us want to maintain, same in other cultures around the world probably. Of course is my opinion, I can be wrong or not.
@Lord Farquaad That's the point, I mean your first paragraph, we are getting used increasingly to live with shabby and vulgar-looking buildings and clothes, we don't care anymore the visual looking and even long-term durability of the things, we are becoming too conformists.
Old buildings and clothes have managed to survived centuries until our days because of their excelent quality; those exceptional pieces of art are the reflection of the past generations, and the things we build today will be the reflection we'll leave tho the forthcoming generations. I don't know if I'm explaining my point correctly.
It's not the same a grove with renacentist-looking facade buildings to the sides than one of those rusty post-soviet cube buildings with post-apocalyptic vibes.
Also, I don't mean to make old fashion exaclty like the old times, of course society and workflow are so different. What I mean is to make good looking clothes but with modern materials.
Clothes like the guy in the video wears, but it's comfortable, functional and affordable even to modern mid/low-class people, it hasn't to be hyper high quality clothes, made with the same materials and the same form than 200 years ago, so only a few would mind to get it; no. You can have 5, 10, 15 or the amount of clothes of this type you want on your wardrobe because it's the same as if you buy a sweatshirt or jeans. Not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly.
Just to expensive to manufacture.
If only it fitsbmy country's weather

I'd marry him 😂 A pure gentleman
He's mine all mine 🤣❤️. I kid...
Noooooo, he's mine xD. I really love men, who behave like gentlemen and are gentlemen. He is the perfect example owo
I want him too 😩 😂
How Scandalous that's not a manner how a lady should behave in
jonathan is shaking
Stuff like this always brings me smile.
Love this. He's a mature young man and loves and lives another era. Good on him. He seems a lovely person.
I love how he is so passionate about his interests and following his dreams. Inspirational!
I really hope he gets his Knighthood, he’s really talented
Lord Farquaad it's not for shit's and giggles, he's got some serious talent and he's already working for celebrities. I just hope he gets some more recognition for his work
no bye it would be great if he could get a knighthood. I can’t think of any people who aren’t celebrities who get knight hoods anymore. I could be mistaken though.
It’s Leathers it's usually people that have contributed culturally to the country on a national or international scale. ( I could be incorrect, but correct me if need be) And I can definitely see his work getting recognized once he gets enough notoriety
Lord Farquaad i think he’s trying tosay he should get knighted for preserving history or culture in general.
Sophia Gonzales Thats what im trying to say, thank you
Young man is able to live his dream. Good for him.
Sadly, he abandoned his Victorian lifestyle to work on a TV. He now has veneers, nose job and wears Gucci clothes. He even change his hairstyle.
@@I.Alfred.Williams Yup. I was shocked too but judging from his FB posts he seems happy in what he does. He still does painting though.
He’s not hurting anyone and is living life in a way that makes him happy I personally love the idea of how people dress and act like they live in a different time it seems to make life peaceful
"I don't have enough money to be who I want to be"
Man, I surely haven't heard a more accurate sentence before. Right now I'm dripping in the fashion and lifestyle of the 1930's and sadly, it is much more expensive than it seems
@Vintage Guy it is not a problem to buy a antique dress, the real problem is to be careful and very patient with any repairs, that often had to be done by a professional
@Vintage Guy also it is interesting because you seem to be confident in what you're wearing. It took me half a year to finally start wearing full-on vintage out of my house. Respects.
@Vintage Guy it started to be really easy for me to show my style when I entered high school, and though I live in a rather traditionalist country I still get a lot of weird looks XD
@Vintage Guy Also, in my previous school I could get laugh at just by mentioning the style I like. I used to feel ashamed because I couldn't find any other style that would fit me, but at this point I feel nothing but pride
@Vintage Guy it's in Europe
Is no one gonna talk about "black eyed beans"
If it wasn't for you, I'd mention it!!
What if one of those tiny beans rings your doorbell? Don't invite it in,it's probably a vampire bean!
That was funny ☺😂😂😂
father
i wheezed 🤣
Gorgeous! What a way to make the world a beautiful place. Absolutely wonderful!
So wonderful to see people today being confident enough to live their dream life. These people, including myself, are a rare breed of those who feel such a draw to past lives that we must have some of it in our 2021 lives!
This is crazy.. I’m the same way. Didn’t think anyone else was like me lol. I love the Victorian era and have transformed my bedroom to look like it. I do the same thing, waking up in the morning to my Victorian ceiling medallion and chandelier ALWAYS puts me in a fabulous mood. You are amazing!
@@hannahbg1852 so what if they do? Are you letting laughter and others opinion dictate your happiness? I dress up as an elf and wear cloaks lots of places because...i want to. So what if people laugh or look, i feel fabulous
@@hannahbg1852 I never get why anyone would care what people think, Especially kids!
Same i though i'm alone when it comes to fashion taste
As a historian I adore the same things, although I go for a more Edwardian take. A trip out always involves a suit and hat, dinner is a 2 hour affair with 9 piece silver service per setting. Starched white linens and white tie evening attire. White shirts, fine china, and large chairs are the way to do it. I could not agree with this gentleman more. Getting dressed up in period style makes everything better, I must say. Congratulations to this gentlemen for his portraiture skill and not bothering with those who tell you off for it.
Me too!! Im 15 and my family thinks im crazy. I collect watches i have several pocket watches, antiques, fine art i have siemens phone from 1928 on my work desk and my dream car is rolls roye from 1925
I admire his courage to live his life in the way that makes him happiest.
He is so handsome, his smile melts me, so nice to see him doing something he loves!
He's living my dream life...
He’s kinda cute not gonna lie.
I'll tell Denmark what kind of videos you watch during worlds meetings, Norway 👀
